I have to give kudos to the May 16 Friday Night front desk rep (Liam? I think) for his professionalism. The other two, a young Brazilian lady and another gentleman on Sunday morning, need to find another job. But lets start with what went RIGHT:||1. The cleaning crew works hard to keep it as clean as possible through renovation|2. The breakfast crew do a great job in serving by 6 and keeping it squeeky clean (for which they were tipped handsomely both mornings we were there).||What DIDNT go well - is their handling of a faulty fire alarm and their complete condescending attitude and lack of preparedness. The cleaning crew TOLD me the alarm was faulty and apologized so much for the inconvenience. The Sunday morning front desk? UN PROFESSIONAL! WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT YOU DONT TELL GUESTS AT CHECK IN THAT THE ALARM IS HAVING PROBLEMS, BUT THEY EXPECT EVERYONE TO EVACUATE (AND GIVE THEM A SAFE AREA TO GO TO! WHICH THEY DIDNT DO!!!!!). WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY DONT CHECK AND DO HEAD COUNT IN THE PARKING TO CHECK THAT EVERYONE IS OUT? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT WE ARE SUPPOSED TO EAT IT BECAUSE THE ALARM IS FAULTY? First night 530 am second night 1230 MIDNIGHT! ONLY ONE PERSON at the desk at night. Condescending, and not sincere in their approach or apology. The owner and the manager shouldn't be in the hospitality business.||I understand the hotel was used to house displaced immigrants. While I lived in Hudson until April 1, my taxes gladly paid for helping. I get that they have to renovate the hotel. But I DONT GET and WONT forget how POORLY they handled the alarm situation, and their lack of compensation or ANYTHING for the inconvenience that almost gave me a heart attack - THEY KNOW THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. Yet they are unprepared to handle an emergency or deal with the problem. Simply shameful in my beloved town...
Read moreUpon appearance, this hotel is nice. The room is clean. The bathroom was clean and modern. Seems as if others' reviews talked about outdated rooms... I didn't feel that at all. The king size bed is comfy, although the pillows are not (way too soft and squishy for my liking)... We arrived around 10:30pm, and around 11:30pm, as I was trying to fall asleep, it was quite loud outside (we could hear people yelling), and we could hear the sounds of traffic throughout the night, so I'm assuming there isn't much by way of soundproofing... and that was all with the blower from the fan unit on high. Around 4:45am, I was awoken from a deep sleep by what I can only assume is the loud clang of pipes warming up from another guest's shower!! Around 5:04am, the clanging finally stopped, but this weird electrical buzzing started... I would have thought it was some sort of cricket if it wasn't so inconsistent and coming from the room... Around 5:30am I heard other sounds, what I can only describe as the sound made by jeans in the dryer... against our door. The only thing that stopped me from leaving was the fact that the man who checked us in said they were still doing free continental breakfast. But wait, there's more. What he did NOT tell us was that there would be no hot food, only grab-and-go items like muffins, cereal, and fruit. I would think that would be something you'd want to inform your guests about, especially when they ask about breakfast! So a bad night's sleep and no hot breakfast... but as I said... at least the bed...
Read moreGuy at the front desk was nice initially, other than that it was a terrible ordeal. Rented out half the hotel for my wedding the following day with friends and family and received no less than 10 complaints beginning at 9pm. No matter what room we congregated in, as few as 3 people would get a noise complaint. The walls appeared to be made of rice paper the way sound traveled through them. We received a complaint at 9:30 that my nieces were being too loud in regard to them watching a television show on their tablets. When we went to argue the complaint we were told children should not be up that late and if we got another complaint the children would be kicked out of the hotel. A 3 and 5 year old watching a YouTube show were evidently too much for this hotel to tolerate. The following morning we were told the manager was going to kick us all out if there was another complaint. We were also refused blankets for the pullout couch when we asked for them because “we don’t keep extra blankets”
I would advise, if you plan on doing anything other than immediately sleeping upon arrival, you stay elsewhere. For a group that rented out upwards of 40 rooms we were treated as an inconvenience at best, while the front desk manager, who had worked 72 hours without a break, passed us increasingly aggressive threats from management. This hotel and whoever manages it should be ashamed of themselves and I’ve advised all I know in the stow/Hudson area to avoid this hotel like the plague....
