The Shops At Highland Commons — Local services in Berlin

I have some concerns for this plaza. While new retailers and restaurants have been popping up, a handful have pulled out in the last year, most notably Maurices and Famous Footwear. Now these could be due to the short jaunt to Solomon Pond Mall or the pandemic affecting business, but still not a great sign. The layout of this plaza, mall, whatever you may want to call it, is also a bit irritating. Things are very spread out. You almost have to shop in blocks and move your car accordingly. All of the restaurants are in their own little area, with the exception of Qdoba which is literally in the middle of the plaza and Panera which sits across from Lowes, but most of the eateries here can be found somewhere else. While great for when shopping, the options are still a bit sparse and weren’t anything I’d go out of my way to stop at.

Honestly, the only major players in this plaza are Lowes, Cabela’s, Market Basket, TJ Maxx, and BJ’s Wholesale. While the addition of the liquor store may be bringing in more business, more attractive businesses need to be brought in. Went to Dollar Tree, this store is very nice open large store , clean and bright. This was a former Party City, which closed a few years ago before Covid-19. We also, want to 5 Below, just browsing, and did have many interesting items at this store, also when food shopping at Market Basket & Browsed at TJMaxx. There opening a brand - new 5 Below into taking 2 of their former stores that closed Eddie Bauer and Mauries . Didn't say when it was opening I love shopping at Paperstore. Although it has been open for a few years it still feels new and nice. The roads in and out are easy to navigate even in rush hour. There is a broad selection of stores including supermarket, outdoor/sporting goods, dollar store, resturants and urgent care to name a few. Most of the lot is flat with plenty of parking and well placed accessible parking spots with clearly painted crosswalks. Landscaping is well maintained and adds to the overall pleasant experience.
