I received a gift certificate for my birthday. The custom gift card was for a Day package of Hot Stone Massage 1 hour for $139.95!! I called and made a reservation for the said gift certificate number. Today I went there and after 15 minutes of the massage, I asked my masseuse when the hot stone would start? She told me your appointment is for a regular massage and perhaps a confusion! I enjoyed my regular massage and I am thankful to Lisa my masseur. On my way out I went to the desk and told the manager about my issue! Without any hesitation, she said the girl who took your appointment noted that you declined the HOT STONE MASSAGE! Then she told me if I want to use the difference of $20 toward gratuity for the masseur or a credit!! As a customer, I am expecting a very simple apology!! Why should I decline a service I have received as a gift?? She basically told me that I am a liar!! I am pretty sure this is a way of scamming to keep the credit and make you purchase another massage from them!! I had the same type of behavior from their Natick location as well! and I learned from the same manager that these two locations are managed by the same company and same rude manager! I lost 2 credit massage of mine at the Natick location because I terminated my membership and couldn't use them on time! As the process began the esthetician made various “recommendations.” She then informed me that it would be an up charge if I decided to move forward. I directly asked the esthetician what the total would be with her recommendations to which she informed me the TOTAL would be $169. I agreed to move forward with her recommendations as I rarely treat myself and received a gift card for Mother’s Day. Upon the completion of the service I was informed by the front desk while checking out that the total of my service exceeded $270… I was shocked. After expressing my concerns as this is not what was communicated to me, the girl at the front desk went to clarify with the esthetician. She came back to inform me that it was $169 on top of the base price of the facial. Eventually, she was agreeable to adjusting the price to reflect what I was informed. This was truly a huge turn off for me. I understand they are running a business but by no means will you retain new customers by pressuring “add ons” and up charging without clearly describing the cost. Especially when I already had the ability to select any “add ons” I was interested in when initially booking. It took away from time focused on the service I had already selected. Let's start with the fact that it is Definitely a chain (in a bad way). They clearly want you in and out. The rooms are incredibly small and not welcoming. When you arrive they call you 5 minutes after your appt time and end it 5 to 10 minutes early Every time. So your hour massage is actually 45 minutes. I had the monthly membership and tried to like it but if I pay for an hour I expect an hour. Also, there is a receptionist that should not be in customer service. Maggie. 2 incidents that are absurd. #1 There was a massive snowstorm and I was not comfortable driving to my appointment. She informed me that I would be charged anyways. I told her that I wasn't comfortable driving and she told me that she drove down from NH so I shouldn't have a problem. #2 I lost my credit card and had it replaced. I didn't realize my membership was attached to it. She waited 2 months to call and inform me. I told her I was planning on canceling anyways.
