Overall, a 4 star experience. This hotel is holding itself back in some respects. If I had been unlucky in my stay, I probably would have left a 3 star review.
Here on a business trip.
Room: very comfortable bed. Tv in front of bed. Mostly clean room. Looked behind mattress. Some hair and some garbage (a bottle cap), but nothing else much in the way of dirtiness. Room smells clean. Bed feels very cozy and nice.
They offer channels on tv. tv has basic channel access on a subscription on roku. If you want to watch other things, you can if you have your own access to other subscriptions like netflix, hulu, hbo, etc. If not, you can watch movies on free roku-accessible services
My experience with tv: Our tv wasn't logged in to channels when we first got here, so we had to call front desk and they came up to our room to log us in on the roku. The Netflix listed in amenities is misleading. I didn't expect or believe that it was something the hotel would pay for, though, even if it was listed specifically in amenities. We added Tubi and crunchyroll to our room's roku. There are lots of free options
There's a fridge, keurig coffee maker, microwave, and the sink to get water is in the bathroom.
The bathroom door is also the closet door. It's a sliding door that can either be slid in front of the bathroom or the closet, with foggy, opaque glass that you can't see through. The door doesn't lock while you are in the bathroom which really didn't matter to me or my spouse, but might matter to someone else.
Good view from our room.
Comfortable temp. Average, low lighting. Loose grip outlets. Good wifi. Was able to use the guest wifi to stream an audiobook, comfortably watch shows on a computer, etc.
Breakfast:
options. I was worried it would run out, so I went down at 7. Waffle makers work. Good waffles.
Two sandwich options: sausage and ham, both with cheese. You will only find egg and meat if you have a breakfast sandwich. Good enough sandwiches if you add ketchup. Not gluten free, if that matters to you.
They do have microwave oatmeal packs and cold cereal options.
Bread, bagels, muffins (not gluten free)
Take one yogurt. Fat free yogurt, lots of sugar.
Apples, oranges, bananas
Condiments I can remember: Nutella, peanut butter, butter, cream cheese, jam, syrup, ketchup
If you drink it, they do have coffee. Other drink options: orange juice(tang, i think), milk, apple juice, water.
Pool is heated. I stuck a hand in and it felt warmer than the air. Hot tub is good.
There is a gym....
Read moreI haven't stayed in a Wyndham in many years, and I wasn't very familiar with the Wingate brand, but I read that it's supposed to be competitive with Courtyard and Hilton Garden Inn. So in that light, the following observations: (1) Hotel was very clean; (2) Pool is a decent size for a motel, but it's in the shade much of the day, with the result that the water was freezing even though it was 85 degrees outside. Heat the pool! (3) The breakfast was worse than similar hotel breakfasts. No potatoes, no scrambled eggs (just Jimmy Dean sandwiches, only with meat), instant oatmeal instead of hot oatmeal, no toppings for oatmeal or yogurt, yogurt limited to Dannon cups of vanilla and one other flavor (no greek). Basically, as free breakfasts go, at the very low end. We got coffee and ate across the street at the Del Taco for breakfast. (4) Weird square pillows that weren't comfortable. (5) We asked for a room not facing the street but we arrived late and they didn't have any, but they told us they never get noise complaints. Well, we didn't hear general street noise, but we did hear it any time a motorcycle or truck making more noise than a typical car came by. I wouldn't stay here again for that reason. (6) Staff was nice and tried to be helpful. (7) Other than the pillow issue, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the temperature in the room worked reasonably well. (8) Tiny gym, 3 machines and some weights. (9) Bring a night light, the door to the bathroom is clear, so you can't just leave the bathroom light on and close the door. (10) Very centrally locate if you are doing stuff in Hurricane.||In short, A+ for cleanliness and location. Other than that, it was just okay, and the noise issue makes it a no for a...
Read moreI stayed here for 3 nights in late November 2024 to go to Zion and Bryce Canyon. Convenient location to both: 30 min to Zion, 2 hours to Bryce Canyon. This hotel is close to restaurants and stores in Hurricane. The hotel seems newer (less than 15 years old). It was generally clean in the lobby, hallway and breakfast area. |That being said, I had a few problems with our stay. First night of my stay, I noticed the phone in the room wasn't working. There wasn't a power plug attached, the phone never turned on. I couldn't call down to the front desk so I went downstairs and asked the person at the front desk for a power cord or a replacement phone. They told me they would have it replaced or taken care of the next morning. During the 3 nights I stayed here, the phone was never replaced.|I booked the room for 4 people but we consistently only received 3 sets of towels. I had to go down multiple times during the stay to ask for another set of towels. Some of the towels we received had make up stains on them. The sink did not properly drain so you have a sink full of dirty water until it slowly drains out. |The hotel's policy is to provide housekeeping every 3 days if you stay one or more nights as posted in the bathroom mirror. I had to go down to the front desk to request housekeeping every night to empty the trash and request clean towels. |The walls are so thin you can hear noise (movement, conversations) from nearby rooms. The beds were comfortable and clean.|The free breakfast is continental, the hot food items are Jimmy Deans breakfast sandwiches. No scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, potatoes, etc.|Needless to say, will most likely not be returning to this hotel and will avoid Wyndham hotels...
