This may be the longest review that I have ever made regarding a hotel, but I use reviews all the time, so I thought it might help someone else too :)
I have stayed at this Holiday Inn multiple times from when they first opened up till recently. Since I stayed there the first time, there were some growing pains, that they seem to have handled as they arose. Their Wi-Fi was HORRIBLE at first, never staying connected, but they have resolved this issue, and it seems to be working a lot better. They also recently fixed the TV channel's by adding the guide feature.
One of the things that I have complained about almost every stay, however, and still hasn't been fixed, is the auto dim feature on their TV's. They are nice LG flat screen TV's, much like the one I have at home, but they do not have any buttons on the actual TV (or if they do, I haven't found them, and I've looked more than once). The issue is that when you are watching a show, the screen auto dims. On the LG that I have at home, it is a function that you can adjust or turn off. With the new remotes (some cox universal remote) and even when they had the original LG remote, they do not have any way to fix this. I noticed it the most when watching basketball games (usually a bright white/cream color floor) and the screen auto dims so much, that it is difficult to even see the game. I don't know if they will ever fix this, but it gets old. The only other issue that I have had on MULTIPLE occasions is when making my reservation, I have requested a certain floor. (I obviously know that if it is a late reservation, this is merely a request), but on multiple occasions, I have called them directly, made a reservation, requested a floor, been told that it is available and even given me the room number that I will be staying in. When I arrive to check in, I end up being on the 3rd floor at the other end of the building. This obviously isn't a deal breaker, just frustrating.
Other than those two things, I LOVE this hotel. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful with any issues that I have had. (This last trip I forgot my Mac laptop charger and couldn't find one anywhere in town, and the front desk clerk went as far as calling her son to see if he had one I could use- Above and beyond customer service!). Rooms and bathrooms are always clean and neat. Wi-Fi works great, AC/heater works great, and it is always comfortable.
OVERALL A+ with the exception being the two minor issues stated. (thanks for...
Read moreI understand that there may have been multiple events happening over the weekend of our stay in Hutch, one being a baseball tournament. When I came by at 1pm to inquire if we'd be able to check in early, the kind clerk informed me that there were some miscommunications about when some would be checking out and that the room would not be ready until 3pm. She then informed me she had just completed room assignments and had placed us in a quiet room toward the end of the hall on the 3rd floor so that one of my children who needed to be up at 5 am could rest peacefully.
Fast forward to 5pm when we were able to make it back to check in, and I was disappointed to learn from the new clerk that we had been moved from the 3rd floor to the 2nd and next to the elevator and ice machine in room 215. At this point, I try to extend some grace and accept the room assignment knowing they're fully booked.
We turned the wall thermostat down because it was warm in the room and the kids went down to the pool (which needs attention with cloudy water indicating low chlorine levels). When we came back up, the room hadn't cooled off any. No one mentioned that the thermostat didn't control the window unit, so we didn't get a departure in the temperature until well after 10pm.
Just after 11pm, my kid is half awake and unhappy that he hears every single person coming and going from the elevator and all the racket from the ice machine. The people next to us are noisy and we can hear them through the walls. Plus, we can hear the people above us when they walk. I'd call downstairs, but know there's not much they will remedy for our issues.
We're IHG members and like staying at Holiday Inn properties, but this experience just didn't live up to the IHG standards and experience that we've grown to expect in other places. It's a nicer, newer hotel, and very clean but the misses were in the...
Read moreThe facility is conveniently located just off the Ken Kennedy Freeway, just minutes away from all of the attractions Hutchinson has to offer. Signage for the hotel is a bit obscure which makes it easy to miss the turn. We were disappointed to discover that the reservations we made weeks in advance were not recorded at the hotel. The desk clerk appeared un-concerned about the inconvenience. She did not attempt to apologize or even recognize the fact that we were ‘put out’ in any way. Her indifference to the IHG Rewards Club was apparent, as I had to ask her three times to enter my membership number. The modern décor, fresh appearance, and great artwork throughout indicate the facility is new. Too bad there is an absolute lack of detail. The inch gap between the bathtub and the wall in our room has accumulated debris. The tiles are so shoddily placed that some stuck out a quarter of an inch. The sleeping area of the room was clean and had appropriate accommodations such as charging ports for cell phones and tablets. The WiFi is fast and easily accessible. The selection of pillows and a great bed made for restful sleep. This hotel has a great breakfast selection. The hot foods were hot and tasty. There was even a gluten free bagel! A young child was running around the breakfast area visiting the tables. The staff stood around and talked about how the child was annoying the other guests but no one confronted the parent. Upon checkout, I tried to find a trash can to dispose of my coffee cup. The container was full and overflowing to the point that I chose to keep the paper cup rather than have it blow across the parking lot. Overall, I would say that our stay was merely OK. The lack of detail and the staff indifference to quality and comfort definitely distracts from the feeling that we received value for the price we paid for...
