I made an online reservation enroute on the Expedia app less than an hour prior to our arrival. I didn't notice the one word, "smoking", in the screenfull of information. As we arrived and I discovered it was a smoking room, the desk guy said it was the only thing available. My wife and daughter have allergies and asthma. As we opened the door to the room, it reeked. We simply couldn't use it. Returned to the desk immediately to return the key cards and cancel (still within an hour of the booking). The clerk refused to cancel, saying I had to do it through Expedia. When I finally got a live person at Expedia (they were very helpful), they said they'd contact Days Inn for the cancelation. Days Inn refused a full refund, saying it was beyond their window for a full refund (an hour after booking?!?!?). They still charged over $87 for nothing... For crappy, totally unengaged customer service at the desk; non-existent personal connection to resolve the issue; dark, dingy, musty facilities (in general); a room that smelled so bad even a smoker would have difficulty staying there.
I'm generally a reasonable, generous and agreeable person and have over 25 years of retail management experience (I know what is good and proper in customer service). However, I will say my piece when wronged. Days Inn's total lack of regard and terrible facilities guarantee I will never use them again. What's more, they probably don't realize the impact of a single disgruntled person. I assure you I will relate my bad experience to many friends. A lesson I learned long ago: It's easier to correct a single bad incident than recover lost potential new business that results from word of mouth bad reviews.
Update: Read the other reviews. I wouldn't change a word of mine. Rather than resolve issues, the management of this location places any blame for any issue on their guest. Yes, Shiv, I do have 25 years of management experience and my retail stores were always top performers in the chain. You need to find a position in a different industry where you are not face forward with the public.
Days Inn Corporate: You need to pay attention here. This location is damaging your business. Others won't take time to call attention to the issues here and will also avoid Days Inn and will likely also relate their poor experience to friends and family...
Read moreThe first floor hallway smells bad. Our room wasn't much better. The pad in front of the window was stained. The pool area was dirty. The hot tub jets didn't work. Some of the patio furniture was broken, the rest was dirty. The outside door card reader (by the handicapped parking) didn't work so we had to go through the lobby (the next day they told me it was had been broken for a while). As for breakfast the biscuits and gravy both were cold along with the eggs. Speaking of eggs, they sat so long that they changed color. The "orange juice" was more like sunny D, it definitely was not real orange juice. The decaf coffee was cold and I had to make the regular coffee because it was out and no one was around to make it (They have the coffee in container with a push down lever to dispense, not in pour your own container) There wasn't any hand soap of any kind in our room. There wasn't any shampoo or conditioner either. The carpet in our room was stiky. The door to the pool was sticking. All that brought them down to 2 stars. But then the toilet in our room wouldn't flush starting about 9pm or second night. It had low levels since we got here, but we didn't need it for more than liquid until our second evening. That's when we noticed that paper would keep coming back up in the bowl. I called the front desk right away and when I did l they said they would "let someone know tomorrow". We had to use the lobby restroom for the rest of our stay. That put them to one star. I'll see if the manager will do anything about it when we check out in the morning. We'll see what happens then. I'll update here with what they do about the issues, if anything. Not worth $177 for two nights no matter what they do about the issues with our stay. I should have left after the first night. I will not be back! I hate to leave only negative things In a review, so here are the positive tjings: The a/c worked good, the apple juice was fine, and the beds...
Read moreOMG! I wish I had read the reviews before pushing the button. I didn’t know it could be this bad. Where do I start? Made reservations on BOOKING.com (they do no vetting) and nothing on that site prepares you for what you walking into. This was a worn out property purchased by Iraqis that speak broken English poorly and point to the collage of dusty papers on the wall to make their point. They will pour their life long saving into this place (they say it’s “under construction”) and it will still be blighted. |They put a fellow named Shiv out front because he knows a small amount of English and call him “manager”. With his parents hovering in the background it feel like Shiv has talked them into putting up their money to buy this place. At one point the mother and father are out front cleaning the flowerbeds of trash and debris. After quite an upsetting check-in I walk to the dusty and dirty hallway to the elevator. Oh yeah…. They will tell you “pardon our mess, we are under construction”. The elevator floor is cracked and broken and you may make it to the third floor to be met by more plastic sheeting on most of the floor and unbelievably dust and dirt everywhere. After a poor night of sleep due to the overwhelming smells of work chemicals throughout the hotel I leave my room to walk out on cereal and milk spilled all over the hallway, then the elevator and finally front entry. I had to dodge the puddles of milk someone thought they could get back to their room with, without spilling.|I thought about this review long and hard, never wanting to say anything bad about anyone. I wished I had read the reviews before purchasing and it’s my duty to warn fellow travelers. They will probably respond to me the way they have in other reviews to the writer, “we are sorry, please come again, pardon our mess”. |Maybe this will save someone from making the same horrible...
