We usually always eat at the same places, but this time we thought we would try somewhere new. First the good...the portion size was large, definitely won't be left hungry. We had to get it to go and we ate in the car. We have a 4 month old that gets very moody very fast, so we stick to on the go foods. It came with a small salad and was supposed to come with a soup but I guess you don't get the soup unless you eat inside. I do not like the fact that you are supposed to eat shrimp sauce as "dressing" for the salad. I would really prefer ranch or thousand island or really anything else. We are from North Carolina towards Asheville so I had brought a small cooler of drinks. Thank god I did because we both got the chicken and thin sliced steak and it was VERY salty. We both probably ate about half and in that amount of time we had literally chugged 2 cans of drinks each and working on a third can. I also don't think I am a fan of their fried rice either..its not sticky rice that most places use, it's basic white rice just with the salty sauce they put on everything and reminds be of the packaged rice a roni products, and most places the fried rice has at least carrots and peas and onions in it and this literally has nothing. The meat was also supposed to come with onion, zucchini, and mushroom and all that was in both mine and my boyfriends was onions...so that was disappointing. The people working seemed really nice and friendly, I just probably won't be back because when I say salty..I honestly mean....SALTY..it's a shame all they have is like the 5 teriyaki meals n that's it..im a hibachi fan myself, but when I think of teriyaki I think sweet..not salty to where I need drink the next 3...

This is the first review I have ever done on a place as far as I remember, but since this came up on my phone.... I'll tell you about my experience. It was by far the worst dinning experience I have ever had in Johnson City, maybe ever. We had to ask for our salad, when people around us that had came in AFTER we ordered were already eating theirs she got snotty and came back and threw them down. When our food finally came out, after the four at the table I was talking about were already eating (and us only 2) I asked a DIFFERENT person how that happens, she said all the food is cooked at the same time and just walked off. I heard the elderly couple beside us talking about how nobody is pleasant in the service industry anymore. And when she came back to their table they talked for about 20 seconds and the waitress said what ever you want! then turned around as she walked by me she said I DON'T CARE. That's when I spoke up. I told her it was obvious she didn't care and she was the sorryest waitress I ever had. I had to go up to the register and pay the bill, she didn't come back, and Honestly pretty much didn't find anything or anyone worth the time I spent there. It is to japanese food, what McDonalds is to a steak house..... except they are friendly at McDonalds for...

Edit based on dinner visit...

Been several times and it is always amazing! Fast friendly service and awesome food at a good price!

Edit: the couple times I had been for lunch it was amazing, with large portions, great prices and friendly staff. Went for dinner with a friend last night and was so disappointed! I ordered the sirloin dinner with the mushrooms on the side and an extra order of the meat as I had planned on taking my husband home the leftovers as there is usually tons. It took forever to get our food but we weren't in a huge rush so that wasn't an issue. What upset me was when the food finally came the meat portion was definitely not double! I figured the wait staff just didn't hear me so I didn't ask about it. When I got my check I was charged $17 for my order. When I went up to pay the manager was ringing us up and I mentioned that I had not gotten the extra order of meat that I was being charged for. He was the one that had brought out our food so I knew that he knew what we had ordered. He started arguing with me and continued to charge me $17 for a regular portion! Prices are usually great but not when you don't get...

The portion sizes are good, the food is okay, and the service and atmosphere really leave a lot to be desired. I had the sesame chicken and it was pretty good. The onion soup was practically undrinkable between the saltiness and the flavor/smell of dish soap in the bowl. Service was run ragged, clearly focused on bigger tables, and I was never offered a refill or checked on besides having my order taken and food brought to me. The ambience inside is terrible. Dark, dingy, terrible echo, and tight quarters. The smell of whatever they clean the tables with also practically overwhelms the food smell at times and while I appreciate effort into cleanliness, the smell was very off-putting. While I might be back for the food, I'd be doing a pick up order instead of dining in.

This is our second night of trying to order to go. We tried calling multiple times starting at 7:30. I can’t even fit the call log in one photo for the amount of times we tried. Some of these are to get ahold of a manager with straight to voicemail. If you all stop taking calls and to-go orders nearly two hours before closing it needs to be stated on website and automated message. Without the availability of third party delivery calling at the right time allows us with work schedules to leave work and be a patron. Unfortunately this is apparently a notorious issue and seems we need to go elsewhere.

Fantastic Japanese restaurant! We go every time we're in town to visit my wife's family. The lunch specials are great and always make for two meals with leftovers. I got the sesame chicken and Yakiniku (beef) for my Moto Combo. The lunch specials come with salad (either shrimp or ginger dressing), soup, and sides of carrots (sweet carrot slices, reminds me of being a kid), mushrooms, and a big bed of brown rice. Totally a great value! They're offering dine in, takeout, drive thru, and curbside pickup right now as well. Try it!!
