Harbor House Seafood and Steaks — Restaurant in Johnson City

We got here about an hour and a half before closing. It was our first time in this restaurant because we were just visiting from out of town. The staff was very friendly. The dinners all came with a salad which consisted of shredded iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, cucumber slices, tomatoes and onions, no cheese and no croutons but they can add cheese and bacon bits if you request it. I got the salmon with herb butter and veggies and it was very good. The veggies were very hot but still in the plastic bag which I thought was odd but I guess they just do it to help keep them hot. The veggies consisted of broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. I added a little butter, salt and pepper to them and they were delicious. The veggies were plenty hot enough to melt the butter so that was good. My daughter ordered the steak and they brought her out a hamburger steak instead of a real steak so we had to wait on them to cook her a real steak. When we told the waitress she said she just assumed we meant the hamburger steak. All they have is the hamburger steak and the ribeye. When it finally got here it was ok but not $26 good, not to me at least. Idk maybe I'm just spoiled from eating Longhorn steaks. This ribeye was definitely not Longhorn quality. The hush puppies kind of looked like onion rings but they were very very good. The waitress definitely could have done a better job keeping drinks filled and the floors were disgusting with food and trash everywhere. I understand it was late but I've been a waitress before and we were required to sweep as needed to keep the floors clean. If you have little kids that are picky there may not be much options for them because I didn't see any mashed potatoes or mac n cheese on the menu. And FYI, they don't serve...

Would have given 4 stars, but the waiter seemed frustrated with our party's seating arrangement. It WAS graduation weekend, so I understand the need to be sure enough space is set aside for potential large groups to walk-in. However, we had a birthday party for a family member that exceeded around 20-25 ppl....all of which arriving within a 45min window of time. To clarify, I am unsure if a formal reservation was made and if so, how many ppl were mentioned. However, being a GM of a full svc restaurant myself in the past, I know how frustrating it can be to have large groups come in at random. In this case, it did not seem we were welcomed as we should have been. Only one waiter to initially take orders, which that process went smoothly, and additional help was given in bringing out the food. It was the seating that frustrated me and my family. We were forced to move from a table that had only 4 empty seats(we informed we were waiting for more to join us)...and one person who arrived after that had to sit without being at an actual table. We were informed that mgmt advised that we keep that table open in case another party were to arrive....not that one had already been reserved. So our group was split up across the back "party-room" with plenty of tables still available in the house! Instead of further explaining or apologizing, the waiter dictated himself where everyone sat and wasn't as pleasant as he should have been about it. No apologies, nothing but acting like we were an inconvenience to him in the seating ordeal. The service itself was up to par, but not exceptional. The food was okay at best...nonetheless the event turned out just fine, but this could have been a more pleasant experience if handled properly. 3 stars, not 5....do better next...

This is a family friendly place but still a reserved atmosphere. The prices are reasonable. The service is good but usually not spectacular. Their menu is very expansive including a wide variety of seafood, some steaks, and even hamburgers. There is a fresh salad bar but is quite small and doesn't have a wide variety. It is $3.49 to add to a meal and over $8 as a stand alone. I personally think both prices here were too high for what you get. The food is discounted for lunch on most items. They do offer a senior discount on most of their items. A majority of the meals are large enough to either split with another person or take home leftovers. I think this restaurant could work a bit harder on keeping the floors and other areas clean. This location has average health scores. There is a room that can be used for larger groups. It is usually best to call ahead if wanting to have that room solely for your gathering. While some things about this restaurant are unremarkable... overall I am not complaining. I was given a huge plate of food and swore when I began eating I would no way be able to finish all of it. I was serious. I then ate every bite and stopped just short of licking my plate.
