I really wanted to write a good review about this hotel because it is one of the few I've encountered on this road trip I'm taking which had parking for my Jeep and trailer combination. Unfortunately, the condition of my room makes that impossible. I'll begin with the lack of towels in my bathroom. It wasn't just one or two missing, no, it was the complete absence of any towels whatsoever, and nowhere to put any. It is utterly mystifying to me how I could be the first person to ever say anything about this but the young lady at the front desk was somewhat disbelieving when I went up to get towels for my stay. I could understand if there were an empty rack for them or something, but there's no rack, no evidence there has ever been one, and no place to put any other than on/in the sink, which is what I did. Continuing with the bathroom, I soon found out that the shower dripped constantly and left the floor wet, and the toilet itself, not the seat, wobbled alarmingly. The toilet problem was particularly worrisome because I had a nasty fall involving a toilet in a Lawrence, KS Holiday Inn on the outbound leg of my trip a few weeks ago. My head still hurts from hitting that toilet. While the shower drip continued through the early evening and into the night I decided to visit the hotel's much vaunted bar/restaurant for supper. I soon found that there are steps inside separating the restaurant from the bar, and to get to the restaurant I'd have to go out and someone would have to open a side door for me since I'm handicapped and can't negotiate stairs of any kind (a curb can stop me dead in my tracks). I'm not sure who put together the menu but the selections are very limited. I tried the chicken tenders and, while they were quite good and the portions adequate, it's really just pub grub and not an actual restaurant. There was a heavy rainstorm while I was eating and I returned to my room to find the entire carpet near the door to the pool area (I had a 1st floor room with pool access) was completely soaked. I discovered this while plugging in my laptop and my phone charger in my bare feet. Not exactly the safest thing to do while standing in a puddle but I was tired and just wanted to sleep. It is now 5 AM, the carpet under my feet seems wetter, my toilet still wobbles, I have no idea where housekeeping would put towels in my room, and my room door has to be slammed hard to get it to latch. Considering what this room cost me, I am very, very...
Read moreThere was no free breakfast due to change of management. Was told bar and restaurant was closed but, when the realized the hotel was at max capacity they decided to open it. There was hair stuck to the shower wall that didn't belong to us. The toilet would not flush toilet paper down unless you flushed it three plus times. The race got canceled Saturday and most or the hotel guess was race drivers, crew and fans. The room TV are not sharable with smart phone but the lobby and bar was plus the conference rooms so we was screen share in the lobby to watch other live races around the country and had about 15 people in the lobby when the desk worker asked us all to go to our rooms because we couldn't gather because they got busted a few weeks before. I believe this could of been handled a better way like allowing us to gather in one of the conference rooms so we was in the lobby disturbing incoming guest or allowed us to go into the bar area. Instead we got told to go outside where it was raining or to our rooms. I didn't feel we was being loud or disrespectful at all to the other guest. We was told that quite time is 10pm I didn't see that posted anywhere nor on my checkin paperwork. We should of been notified about the bar and restaurant being closed before checkin. As well as the no free breakfast. I found out on my day before email which at that point was to late to switch locations on a big weekend. We stay at holiday Inn expresses because of the free breakfast and I didn't feel it was very nice of them to offer us to buy breakfast from the restaurant but not have free as normal. I actually called other locations to try and switch locations because of this issue but they was all booked. Thank you for your time and hope this helps your location make...
Read moreWhen we tried to check in a little early we were told that our room isn't ready yet. Okay, we understand that happens. When I tried to confirm that we were in a "jetted tub" room, she said they don't have jetted tubs and continued to argue with me about it even though that was what I had specifically booked and my confirmation email showed it. We didn't appreciate her snotty attitude throughout our entire stay. She apparently doesn't know much about the rooms (and I believe she was a manager), because when we got into our room we found the JETTED TUB that I had booked. Wow. Even though we had the jetted tub, it was not enjoyable at all because it was very small, not even big enough for me (and I'm only 5'1"). Later when I went to get ice I had to go to two different floors and both were out of order (on a sold-out race weekend) and I had to go back down and get it at the lobby bar.
Jump to the next morning... Breakfast was supposed to be from 7 to 10. Hubby went down at 8:00 and there was nothing, not even coffee. The desk clerk told him the "chef" was "running late, but it's not a problem". Really??? I guess it didn't matter to her that guests weren't able to get their breakfast. Other people waiting for breakfast as well. About 8:20 he went back and was finally able to get a cup of lukewarm coffee. We tried again at 9:00 and still no breakfast. More people also waiting, and they didn't look any happier than we were. Totally ridiculous. Unfortunately, the next day was the same... no breakfast by 8:00, so we checked out and left. We would definitely not recommend this place and will never be staying...
