My family is a party of 8. I read tons of mixed reviews for this place and decided to give it a try. It is attached to the Ramada which is no big deal. We used the entrance on the right side instead of going through the hotel lobby.
We were greeted by staff and seated quickly. The restaurant is mostly a bar with a few tables and a couple ocean front tables. Our waitress who was the manager was also being shadowed. They took our drink orders first. Most ordered normal drinks except myself and brother in law. I ordered the obx hurricane and he ordered the tiki special of the day. Both were extremely acidic and not enjoyable.
For food I ordered the nachos and loaded "spuds" appetizer with the fish tacos. My wife ordered the macadamia Mahi. My brother and father both ordered the wood fired cheeseburger and my sister ordered the grilled chicken Cesar salad.
The nachos weren't terrible but if you're not used to won ton chips I don't recommend for 11$. The loaded spuds are just frozen deep fried fries with a basic cheese sauce and toppings. My fish tacos were confused with too many toppings on a small 4 inch tortilla. The Yucatan fries tasted like fish from the blatantly unclean fryer. My wife's Mahi was delicious on the inside but the deep fried outside was terrible from the obviously unclean fryer. My brother and father ordered their burgers medium and they came burnt to a crisp. My sisters salad was not incorrect for the lettuce but didn't come with chicken.
My dad alerted the manager of the unacceptable food and she basically told us sorry and that we could leave. My wife and I didn't agree with that so we paid our 80$ tab and left a tip.
Long story short this is a place for drunk beach goers and and late night hotel stays. I do not recommend for anyone looking for a decent meal. The other restaurants have long wait times...
Read moreI was visiting the area on vacation. I first went to pick up my food on a Friday night. My food was cold despite me arriving 3 minutes before my scheduled time. This wasn't an issue because they were busy but I found it strange that I never received an email or text saying my food was ready to be picked up. However when I went to pick up my food the man (bald, glasses, looks to be in his 50s) did not even acknowledge my presence and instead walked away from the area and took his time coming back to thw podium. When he came back he continued to look down at the screen despite my attempts to ask if the food on the shelf was mine. So I took the food and left. I came back the next day with a friend in an attempt to sit down and eat. The same man did the same thing again, not acknowledging us standing there until several minutes later. Honestly I know when I'm dealing with racism and this is what this felt like based on others being acknowledged when they came and they were standing behind me. It's unfortunate because the item I picked up actually tasted good.
Edit after owner response: I clearly said podium and not when I walked in, meaning I was 2 feet or so from your host on both occasions. Your response and complete lack of acknowledgment just reaffirmed the...
Read moreSeated right away after we came here on a whim after encountering hour wait times at nearby restaurants. Staff seemed to adhere to COVID-19 mask wear properly. Service was good and pretty quick. Bartender was able to knowledgeably provide recommendations based upon my taste preferences. The cocktails were not all bogged down with sugars and syrups as you see in a lot of beach tourist places. The mai tai was traditional and quite good.Pina coladas were nice and refreshing and not sickly sugary, which was awesome to see. As for the food, it was a pretty standard beach menu. Crab cakes were okay, boosted by a nice mango salsa and coconut coating to set them apart from every other seafood joint around. Husband had the lobster roll, which was fine. We would come back. Nice tiki bar and additional waterfront deck overlooking the beach directly, so you cannot...
