First allow me to say that the woman who checked us in was wonderful, actually the two staff members we encountered were both wonderful. When we drove onto the property my first question was, was the place actually open for business; it looked like it was abandoned. Grass overgrown, broken concrete sections and poor paint on the exterior to say the least. I am not sure where the pictures were taken, but they are not the norm. Not surprised, at one point in my career I was a housekeeping Manager so I know how the POS game works, but this was beyond my thoughts. First all the hotel doors were propped open by one of the chairs in the room. When we were checked in I asked if the desk attendant knew she gave us a room with the door open, she did. Inside the room had a strange odor like the room was wet and airing out, despite me spraying half a can of Lysol it wouldn't go away. I discovered there was at some point a leak in the bathroom. There was black mold growing on the ceiling also when I pulled the shower lining open I found mold in the areas of the curtain that had been closed for sometime, the toilet didn't flush and when we could get it to work it took forever. Neither the tub or the sink had the stopper that holds the water inside them. I always check the beds in hotels and this place was no different, there was hair and stains on the sheets of both beds I requested both sheets be changed and they accommodated the request. The towels were stained, the furniture dated and not on decent outlet the plug in my charger. Each was cracked or missing screws or the lamps/tv/clock was plugged in it. I must have missed the " business-friendly" area or it was hidden along with the fitness center, room service. It was raining while we were there and it's early in the season so I am guessing the landscaping plans are in the works, but someone placed random house plants every where was an interesting touch. But the most curious thing was there was always this man sitting in a tan pickup truck in the front of the building at all hours. All-in-all the place should be renovated immediately, but the staff was...
Read moreMyself, husband and three young children tried to check in to the econo lodge next door they share a pool set up is the same. The lady said they had no rooms. My husband said there was no way they were full but ok, so we drove to the days inn entrance and got a room. After we checked in 4 police cars pulled in to the econo lodge connected to days inn. Probably why they lied about not having a room. We are getting our bags and there are some men with no shirts and baggy pants with their underwear hanging out smoking and drinking with there doors open upstairs on the second level. We walk up and of course our room is right next to them they made me uncomfortable and asked how I was doing I said good and scooted my 4 and 7 year old into our room its trashy, it stinks. I went to use the restroom and there was urine all over the seat and maybe two squares of toilet paper left on the roll. My 7 year old opened the fridge to put her drink in it and pulled out a half full bottle of vodka. I was already tired from our drive and dealing with our children in the car on a long trip I wasnt about to stay somewhere i felt uncomfortable and unsafe. We went back downstairs loaded the car and got a refund, meanwhile next door the cops are knocking on doors and walking around the place. An ambulance pulls in. And the men next door are all outside watching. We went across town to the Hampton by Hilton there were two really nice places. The people were well dressed here it was clean the pool and other facilities were wonderful. the comp. breakfast was great. If you dont mind paying the extra money to feel secure in this town go there!! My husband use to drive truck and would have stayed in the days inn because of the cheap prices but this is not a nice place and I wouldn't recommend it for a family not even if you just need a bed to catch a few hours of sleep. I wouldn't take my children here. Then they called us at midnight asking if we would be checking in they saw we had a reservation and thought we were a no show and they couldn't get our charge to go through on. Our...
Read moreI wish I had read the above reviews before staying at this place. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn when I come to Lavonia. However, due to COVID , money was tight when making my reservation. The Hampton Inn was on average $60 more per night. ||Pros: Price and the king size bed was very comfortable and the pillows were, too. It had a dorm sized fridge which was nice. It also had a microwave, which I did not use.||Cons: The room was shabby. I’m not sure if it had been cleaned, most likely just tidied, before we stayed there. My husband threw wet used wash rags to the floor that was hanging from the shower curtain rod before he got into the shower. The lamp shades had holes in them and one had mold growing on it. The air conditioner did work, but had no knobs to turn it on or off. There was no smoke detector, but there were wires hanging out of the wall where one used to be. The motel door was warped, allowing light and bugs to come through. There was no alarm clock as advertised. There were no drain stoppers in the sink or in the bathtub. There was a broken towel bar or something missing in the shower. The popcorn ceiling was missing in areas. There was a Kleenex receptacle but no tissue. We were given a 1/2 roll of tissue with no back up. The worst thing was that not only were the towels thin and stained, some were dirty as well. It appeared as though they had fallen off the cart, rolled over, and then placed back on. Outside, there was a sink stored under the back stairwell. When I booked this reservation, it stated that they served a continental breakfast. When I got there on July 2, 2020, they said they were not serving the continental breakfast due to Covid. If that is the case, their advertising needs to be changed. Covid has been going on for months now and will likely continue for a while-no excuse for false...
