First of all most of my negative experience came from issues beyond the control of the property. My stepdad-in-law had died and we had to make last minute trip arrangements. I used another website that is censored by IHG to make all my air, rental car and hotel reservations due to the urgency. Even tough I was quoted outrageous daily rates (equal to those on the IHG “member rates) for a suite, I felt confident we could negotiate a bereavement rate with the hotel since we were staying 9 nights. They were unable to do this due to the “prepaid” reservation made through a popular consolidator that is censored by IHG. Our assigned suite (room 416) was the smallest suite on the property with a weird half length window and complicated drapery/sheer/light blocker arrangement. Part of the inability to have a completely dark room was that the drapery was not fastened to the runner properly. I reported this to the manager who said it would be taken care of. Returning from the funeral that night we saw that this had it not been fixed and instead had to dangerously climb up on the night stand and fix it ourself. This was aggravating in that I was paying the highest nightly rates for the crummiest room of that type. Less aggravating but also adding to my low score for value, was the absence of one of the side chairs from the kitchenette table. Apparently the group of contractors taking over the place had moved these to a central gathering place for their daily meetings. Ordinarily the staff does a great job keeping the breakfast area well stocked, but the sheer volume of early morning contractors meant some things just ran out by 8:00am. This was not a pleasant stay and paying the bill equivalent to a week’s stay in Hawaii was the icing on that particular kind of cake. We won’t be back as it seems the hotel has decided group reservations to contractors are more lucrative than accommodating...

Read moreWe were part of a softball team who travels frequently for softball tournaments. The front desk staff was very rude and inconsiderate. Instead of being greeted kindly, we were greeted with a guideline of how our children are expected to behave. My children know how to behave and I don't need your rules. Several of us asked to be in rooms with close proximity and were told no, that room assignments were already made. No exceptions, per the blonde woman working the front desk. Now if guests haven't arrived, room assignments CAN be changed. Keeping teams rooms together cuts down on elevator and hallway traffic and noise! I worked in front desk hospitality and know so. I was astounded how rude the front desk staff was. Also a member of our team was charged double, no apology was made, and we asked for a manager and she said she would have them call us, they never did. Also when I tried to help this parent, Takisha rudely told me she couldn't speak with me about it, the parent I was trying to help was standing there telling her to please explain it to me and that she had her permission to discuss it with me and she still wouldn't. Everytime I spoke she said, "I can't speak with you about this." So my friend had to repeat everything I said to Takisha so she would answer her, this third party conversation went on for a while and was completely ridiculous, I was politely trying to help a friend understand what happened. We will NEVER return to this hotel and further I will look for other places to stay than Holiday Inn in the future when traveling for softball tournaments. While traveling for tournaments we have never came across staff as rude as the staff in...
