BED BUGS IN OUR HOTEL! If I could give 0 stars, I would. Upon arrival everything seemed very clean and nice...But not too long after getting there, I saw a bed crawl on the bed, being the person I am I flipped out. I immediately thought it was a bed bug, but I had never seen one... and neither had any of my family. My Dad killed and it assured me there was no way it could be a bed bug, and my Mom agreed and said the hotel had good reviews online. I tore apart my bed looking to see if I saw anymore and I didn't. So I tried to ease my mind and we stayed the night... The next day as I am laying in bed another one CRAWLED on me!!! I was pissed at this point. I had my Mom scoop the bug into a cup and I brought it down to the front desk (so I could prove there was actually bed bugs in our room). Also... I did check the web to make sure this indeed was one, and it look exactly like one, just like the other did and that was also the second one. The lady at the front desk told me they do monthly checks and they pay a lot of money for preventing them. She asked if we stayed at another hotel prior and suggested that sometimes they come from other hotels and I told her that we did not stay at any other hotel and we definitely did not have them in our house. And she said they must have come from the person who stayed in there before us. They switched us from our suite to normal rooms since she said they didn't have any other suites left and they did take off the first nights charge (we were supposed to stay 2 nights in the suite.) We had to wait over an hour or so to get switched, and this drove me nuts...of course all I could think about is the terror of having our house infested with bed bugs like stories I saw on the news a few years back. I was paranoid and decided to check the other bed. I found another baby one on one of the other beds. In my opinion, 3 is a lot.. and if I found 3, how many more were in there that I couldn't see. How could there be 3 from the person staying right before us? And shouldn't they check the rooms after every person instead of monthly checks? When you paid over $260 for a night, you would think there would NOT be bed bugs. We obviously had to wash all the clothing and blankets, any cloth material we had..which we had to pay for and we shouldn't have had to - we shouldn't have had to even wash our stuff in the first place. Since we had went out and about in the car and came back before we noticed the bed bugs, we also had to wash the car to make sure we weren't bringing bed bugs back home. The whole process of switching rooms and washing all of our laundry took a while and kind of ruined our trip. We had to wash all of our stuff again once we got back as well to prevent our house getting infested with those nasty things. Out of all this inconvenience, I don't think taking one nights cost off of our bill makes up for this.
The hotel didn't apologize...the cleaning lady that took us to our new room expressed her condolences, saying she was sorry that we had to deal with that, and she wouldn't want to have to deal with that either. But this was her feeling bad for us...not the hotel apologizing. She offered me to check out the room before we moved so we could feel safe in there, so of course I started tearing apart the beds and searching the beds down, as I assume any sensible person that doesn't want to end up with a bed bug infestation would? I didn't care for the fact that she joked about me "really going to town," or saying "you're hired" as in a way to kind of make fun of me for searching the beds. I truly do not think this is over the top since if these bugs were to make their way home with us, it could take weeks or longer to wash everything, bag everything up, have our house froze (as they're supposed to be extremely hard to get rid of), and above all this would cost...
Read moreWe stayed 1 night during the week and it was sooo cheap (under $100 after taxes/fees). The front desk lady Kari was so nice and very helpful with any questions we had.
We called a few hours before check in and asked if we could come early and they said "Yes, our room would be ready in 20 minutes." Kari also made accomodations for us to check out an hour later the next day. Both gestures are greatly appreciated.
I LOVE THE TOUCH SCREEN COFFEE (ESPRESSO/LATTE/HOT CHOCOLATE/CAPPUCCINO/ETC.) MACHINE IN THE LOBBY. I can't believe I didn't get a photo of the awesome drinks we had while staying. Not to mention, they even had kid friendly options. My daughter (9 yo) just looooved the hot chocolate. 🙂 And it's located right next to the breakfast room, so you can get a fresh cup of whatever you prefer and then get your AMAZING breakfast they provide for free.
The breakfast was delicious and had so many options. We didn't have a chance to try everything before we were full. Oatmeal(with available toppings), cereal, bagels, muffins, waffle machine, eggs, sausage, potatoes, breakfast burritos, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, the softest biscuits and gravy, and juice, fruit and it was a big space allowing everyone room to get in and out and eat peacefully.
The pool is 3ft-5ft and it's not small. I loved the available life jackets and towels restocked whenever requested. The hot tub is very nice and pretty popular so I didn't get to spend much time in there, but the pool never felt crowded even with multiple families in it. The overall pool/hotub experience was 10/10.
The fitness room was nicely air conditioned and super clean, they had tv, drinking water available, towels, and a bunch of equipment and weights.
They had vending, ice, and washing/drying machines and blow dryers and irons. The TV is not smart but has cable and that's not even a downside considering the fact that we were looking forward to watching some good ol cable for a change. Beds were comfortable and clean and they had 2 extra blankets in the drawers.
Only downside is the shower head, the 2 settings were not consistent and flowed every which way...it was hard to rinse your face considering the stream was just going outwards random directions. And the...
