This hotel is in a good location if you are fit and mobile. Attractions are quite spread out in LA of course but this is in walking distance of the Hollywood walk of fame. ||One block away is Norms Diner, decent food that won't break the bank, this was very handy and there is a 7/11, Walgreens and a target very nearby. You can also get the train just around the corner to head towards Union Station, North Hollywood and Universal Studios. You can also head down to Santa Monica BLVD in about 10 minutes to catch buses to West Hollywood and Santa Monica Pier. ||The hotel met our expectations for a budget establishment, you can't expect 5* for the prices this place charges right by Hollywood. ||What really spoiled this stay for us however was construction work going on outside at 7am every day. I don't think it was actually happening at the hotel and I don't know how long it's going on for but it cost us a lot of sleep.||What we liked:||-Large comfortable king bed|-Good location |-Spacious room|-Refrigerator |-Good air conditioning|-Plenty of sockets |-Table and chairs|-Large TV |-Friendly staff |-Security at night |-The rooms actually look how they look in the pictures online!|-Good quality toilet paper||What we didn't like: ||- No lamps beside the bed, this was quite irritating as it meant every time we got up in the night we had to walk over and switch the large light on. |- The WiFi was poor, it would keep dropping and as international travellers this was quite problematic as were relying on it to keep in touch with people at home and get directions, book tickets etc. The staff also changed the password mid-stay for some reason. |- Noise from construction and traffic |- Towels were very small and not at all luxurious, barely met in the middle! |- Hair dryer on its last legs |- Phone in room did not appear to work|- No plug in the tub, meaning I had to shove a towel in the hole in order to take a bath. ||Overall, while there were some annoyances, the main one not being the hotel's fault (outside noise), for the cost in LA it is good value for money and I would recommend it to travellers on a budget. It takes about an hour in a...
Read moreMy family and I stayed here for a week from Jan 9th 2019. When we arrived the room smelled of fresh linoleum very strong. The room should have been aired out, it was upstairs. So we had to open the window for the scent to leave. The bathroom was nice however if the light was on too long it made a noise. The walls are not soundproof, apparently next door to us a couple was getting their grove on. We have a toddler, my husband raised the volume of the tv, to block out the noise, that didn't help much. Thank God it was just one day, the Friday. Smh. No microwave, not even by the office. A suggestion at least you all can buy a microwave if you do not want to put in rooms. Went to get some hot water for tea. The guy at the front office, told me had to turn on hot water and had to get cups. So he had to open the cupboard and give me. The funny thing is when we were leaving on Wednesday, the cups were placed outside and tea. I do not understand why it wasn't there in the first place. The heating came on for 5 minutes then came back on 30 minutes. Certain parts of the room temperature was not regulated. The room was very stuffy. Only on my last night the room was comfortable with the heat. To me the room wasnt very cosy. There is no elevator.
The resolution on the TV was great. Housekeeping came and clean, although one day it was late. However, a great job. Great location, alot of fast food eating areas nearby like Burger King, Subway, Mc Donalds, Panda Express. A grocery Food 4 Less...
Read moreStarted with a decent greeting, but ended feeling like I was in a 1-star hotel. Sure, the halls smell bad, the hairdryer doesn’t work, the bathroom door doesn’t close properly, the fridge makes loud sounds all night - that’s all kind of expected for the price. I however was woken up in the middle of the night from a phone call from front desk. The lady was hard to hear, so I called back on my cell. She asked me where all the noise is coming from, and said there was so much stomping and loud noises. Didn’t have any clue what she was talking about as I fell asleep to the tv, and she said security is on their way.
I had an early start in the morning and it was the middle of the night, and a hotel employee/security guard came to my door. I told them I don’t know what’s going on and that it’s just me in the room, and they kept asking if I was sure I wasn’t making a bunch of noise. They then proceeded to check nearby rooms, but I was unable to go back sleep for the rest of the night. On top of that my WiFi stopped working.
Either they are very unprofessional and accusatory of their sleeping guests, or this place is haunted af and they’re hearing things.
Either way, if you want to pay for a place to sleep, I recommend paying for a place that would actually let you sleep - rather than call you in the middle of the night and send security down because someone misheard where noise is coming from. No apology was...
