The only good thing about this hotel is the location.
Let's start at the top. When we arrived, we parked in the back lot and walked into the hotel. The man at the front desk was sleeping. Sleeping deep enough that he was snoring. We walked around the front desk and said "Hello" a few times to not startle him, but enough to hear. We got louder and finally knocked on the desk and he woke up. Getting over that, we knew we would be arriving early. We asked to check in early, and they accommodated us with a $15 fee. However, they couldn't find my reservation. I booked through Agoda and he had to go find a manager to find the reservation. Then we booked for the car to be there two nights in a row, and it was $24 each night.
Let's talk about the parking. Parking is double parked or stacked parking except for 2 spots. So if you park against the building, you have to 1. hope that the person who parked in front of you left their keys at the desk. 2. there is someone at the desk (I'll talk about this later) and/or 3. You don't have to go in a hurry for them to tow the car out from in front of you. It's also a very tiny parking lot, so I wouldn't suggest trying to park a truck, or you'll be doing an 18 point turn.
Now the room. The room has a small refrigerator. The bed very low to the ground and it's a mattress on a frame, so no box spring. The bed was firm and the pillows provided are small and hardly filled.
There is an ottoman in the room which was in an awkward spot where we had to nearly lift it out from between the small table and the bed. Our room didn't have a suitcase rest. The closet is the biggest part of the room.
The bathroom was fine. Amenities were just fine, with soap and shampoo/conditioner in bottles in the room.
However, the deadbolt of our room didn't work. I told someone this and even showed him and all he said was "I'll have housekeeping look in the morning."
We left later and the attendant was sleeping again. When we came back, there was a new attendant.
The next day when we left, the attendant was sleeping again. I know that this hotel reads the reviews. He, again, was sleeping so deeply that we took a photo. I am going to take the high road here and not post the photo, but should the hotel like a photo - I'm happy to provide.
When we returned on our last night, we ended up having to double park. When we walked in to give our keys to the attendant, there was no one there.
We waited for about 5-10 minutes for someone to show up. I wrote a note on a piece of paper to let them know my room, the car I had parked, and to have them call the room to get the key.
They called me about 10 minutes later and came up to get the key (this is when I showed them the dead bolt didn't work).
Honestly, I don't know how many people would have done this and waited. They might have just parked and left. This doesn't help or facilitate the parking situation - especially when you're paying for each night you're there. I can't imagine if someone had parked in front of me, and I had to leave for the airport or something scheduled.
This hotel is walking distance from everything, so that's the one perk, but there are other hotels in the area that have better service.
The hotel doesn't have keyed security for the elevator. So from my experience there is either a sleeping attendant, or an absent one multiple times a day. My hotel room didn't dead bolt. The backdoor from the parking was always open.
This didn't make me feel super safe.
I'm sure I'll get the same response for a chance for them to prove they can do better, but I don't want that. I am writing this to share my experience and help others make educated decisions on where they might...
Read moreI never bother to write reviews but felt I had to. This hotel (if you can even call it that) is absolutely disgusting.
The concierge: Firstly, let’s call it what it is - a hostel with single rooms. This is not a hotel. The “concierge” is a small desk at the entrance with one person supposedly sitting there who half the time was unable to locate. Ask them any questions and they don’t know the answers.
The room: The room we were given was absolutely DRENCHED in marajuana and cigarettes. It was through the sheets, through the floors, and through the bed heads. In response they gave me a humidifier which did nothing, and some spray and wipe. The room was freezing and I couldn’t use the heating because that made the smoke through the room worse.
I found out that night from concierge the person who used the room before us, lost his deposit because of the state the room was in. And yet we were not told, offered another room, or compensated.
The carpet was filthy. The hair dryer I tried to use, but it was covered in someone else’s oil and dead skin. This place should be reported as it does not meet safety regulations.
The windows may as well not be there bevauze the street noise is as loud as though you were outside, even wearing earplugs - so if you are a light sleeper don’t bother.
For a supposed “hotel”, there is no safe in the room to keep passports and belongings. We had to pack and then keep our suitcases locked all day every time we left, and we always felt as though we had to rush back to check out stuff was still safe.
The area: this hotel is advertised as being on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. No, it’s not. It’s a 10 minute walk- that’s fine if you can walk, but some people might expect to be actually on the strip and amongst the Atmosphere.
Secondly, the walk to and from the Hollywood Walk of Fame us terrifying, given the amount of homeless that approached us, followed us, yelled at us. This is no fault of the hotel but if you are young females, we strongly advise against staying here bevauze it is not safe.
Furthermore, there were people standing outside the hotel harassing us at night as we went in and out, with the hotel clearly doing nothing about it. In fact we went in one night and the “concierge” was fast asleep, with the hotel doors unlocked, with anyone freely coming in and out at night. If you’re going to have a hotel in this environment with a concierge that sleeps, then you need to employ security.
If I could rate this hotel one star I would. It made our time in California miserable. In fact, I checked out early in the last two nights and stayed at an ACTUAL hotel instead, even though it meant I lost money, because I did not feel safe staying at this hotel any longer.
Also, watch how the hotel will now write the same response that they have on every other bad review and request a chance to “try again”. It’s the same word for word response that’s...
Read moreOn 2/26 I booked a room at the Lexen for my son who was in the Los Angeles area for a night. I booked thru Expedia and when he arrived to the hotel as he was checking in with Maria at the front desk he had me on speaker. Scrolling through the reservation confirmation I noticed the hotel charged a deposit of $250 which I mentioned to my son, he asked Maria about the deposit to which she replied " its only $200" at which point I told my son to ask her how long would the refund take, she replied "just a few days but no longer than 7 days". My son spent the night without incident and when he checked out of the hotel the next morning, I was also on his phone with him. I told him to take the key to the desk and let them know he was checking out. Again he inquired about the refund to my card and was told it will be a few days but no longer than a week. Fast forward 10 days later, the refund has not posted. I contacted the hotel and the phone was again answered by Maria I told her I had not received the refund and wanted to make sure it had been processed, to my shock she told me she never told us it would take a few days she had told us it would be up to a month. At no time was a month EVER mentioned when i stated that she became angry insisting she had told us a month. Update: 15...
