It's very sentimental place to me. The music about place and this famous- cool sign. But today, it's not the same. I can't feel this atmosphere from RHChP songs cause now, on the beach there are too many strange people and homeless . Everyday I trying to be openmind and try to be kind/connect with everybody 🙌 but sometimes it's too scary. I am afraid of this " free souls" people. Maybe I am more affraid about the drugs/stuff made them / addicted them. I understand that 70% of homeless people are adicted or have mental dieseas. I am writing about people who chose their path and put everythin on to be an artist ...free soul and chose the street life. one of them talked with us/ he wanted cigarett.
I saw many talented boys in Venice 's skatepark. I rode the bike during whole beach. I was trying to feel like in Incubus / RHChP bands songs and I can't feel it even in my "peace world" t-shirt. The world is changing in every year and the sleepwalkers still believe in old "good" world . Ok I can understand it and that's why I am still visited this famous places cause I am one of thos blind sleepwalkers ❤️ If you traveled.the world and meet places of your dream tou will be dissapointed in many places. It don't have to be cool. It's too sentimental and I had to be there. I wish to be there on 90's. Even if now I am disappointed it was only my dream of californication worth to be there. ... But honestly I cannot be disappointed that homeless people occupied the area and the rock stars run away from this place cause it too crowded and occupied. 😓😀🙃😻 love you Venice because of your meaning and famous. But you are not so " perfect" I believed you are . it made my trip more sentimenal than before. I am glad I've got you in my mind now, as a reality " not only...
Read moreThis is an iconic and historical place at one of numerous entrances to Venice Beach boardwalk.
The very simple lighted sign is surrounded by paid and street parking (make sure to read the signs), a variety of businesses that line the street, including outdoor and indoor restaurants, a hostel, several legal cannabis dispensaries, food markets, souvenir shops, bike and skate rentals, tattoo parlors and probably more than I have stated here.
The street has character - the original colums and archways have been painted for emphasis, there are murals in variety of styles and subjects.
It is quick stop that will take less than 10 minutes to appreciate. After admiring the sign, the street will lead you to the beach so you can pursue day of souvenir or art shopping, casual dining, the original "Muscle Beach" workout facility, visit a legal cannabis dispensary, rent bike or skates, visit skate park, enjoy stroll up and down the boardwalk or just take a blanket or chairs and catch some rays.
There are combination of people that visit - mostly tourists, but good mix of residents , street performers and vendors that line the boardwalk selling anything from original art, clothing or musicians that want to give you their EP for small donation.
Be careful and pay attention. There are panhandlers and opportunistic pick pocketing or theft. As long as you are aware you'll have good time people watching and enjoying the...

Great restaurants, Man's Kitchen is right there, which is the place to eat. You are gonna love that food. I ate there first time 16 years ago, and it was amazing. This year when I stopped by, or was still amazing. This area is very unique... you can see a lot of funky stuff, and find plenty artsy memorable things to see and experience.
One night I was driving thru one of the bac k alleys right there, 👀 right on the beach, and suddenly the 🌳tree on the side of the street separated in 2, and half started walking down the street... a real 🌱Tree Man on what I realized was stilts. Full tree costume, bare skin wrapped with vines and leaves. I will never forget it, it was sooo surreal, cause it was nighttime and just a few street lights and dust in the air, it was like a movie scene... 😂😂😂 A couple days later I mentioned this to a local, and he said 'I know exactly who you are talking about!'👀... I think that says everything you need to know about the area 😁😀😅😆.
The Jim Morrison mural is right there also, on the side of one of those buildings right on the sand, you...
