Buyer beware!! Read all the low ratings on here and other travel sites like Expedia as they represent what you can realistically expect. I find it curious that my experience was so similar to the reviewers who also gave the lowest ratings ... hard to believe anyone who ever actually stayed here would call this place a "hidden gem".
No staff anywhere to be found the entire stay. Everything was rundown, old, & dirty...if it wasn't broken already, it was seconds away. The room had a strong smell of bug spray & disinfectant. Wifi connectivity was non-existent. No wifi also mean't no Roku tv/streaming channels either. The large bathroom window in our room was missing but replaced with a lovely piece of plywood. The curtain hardware fell off the wall when closing the curtains. The bedding was old, faded and kinda felt like it hadn't been washed in a while. The fridge made a constant screeching noise and had to be unplugged to get any sleep. The pictures of the room in the ad showed a large tub with jets but neither the jets or the hot water worked. There's no "continental breakfast" served between 8a-11a as advertised. Nothing is served anywhere and the only food you'll find is the old pre-packaged pastries & fruit cocktails in the room. And coffee pods for the coffee maker were unusable as there were no cups provided anywhere. Sal was reachable via text but incapable and/or unwilling to address anything. He did offer me a discount code eventually for a future booking (like I'd want to stay here again...EVER) but lo & behold, that didn't work either!!
Okay, okay. it might seem I'm nit-picking and high maintenance but I stay at Motel 6s everywhere for a fraction of this room rate and their services and amenities far surpass what was provided at this "Inn". I'm sorry but for $180/night, I don't think it's too much to expect the basics such as wifi, hot water, amenities pictured & offered in ads to exist/work, etc.
Steer clear of The Mammoth Inn if you want anything resembling a hotel room and don't be afraid to file a chargeback if you feel like you didn't get what...
Read moreMy main issue with this Inn is that they don't have enough parking plain and simple. Your vacation becomes centered around whether or not you will find a spot when you come back. There are 5 parking spaces in front and 2 or 3 (if your cars are small enough) in the back. During the winter the road leading to parking in the back is super icy even though they clear it of snow. Once parked in the back you can only reverse out to get onto the main road. There isn't enough space in the back parking area during winter due to other cars and the snow embankments crowding you in. We have a 4 wheel drive SUV with 3d cameras to help us. However it was still a nightmare! We had to put chains on so that the car wouldn't lose grip and slide into the side of the Inn, snow embankment, and metal trash bin (We almost slid into the Inn). The side road stays pretty icy because it is heavily shaded and doesn't melt easily compared to the main roads. I've stayed in this hotel a few times but more so in spring when the road had melted. This is the second stay where I've experienced this parking issue and I'm done. The parking in this place is a hassle and it is beyond frustrating. I've stayed in 4 of their rooms (each one is different) and they are all super Tiny. Doesn't seem very clean and they don't have any areas where you can easily get supplies like napkins, cups, plastic cutlery, towels, toiletries, etc. If there is, it isn't easy to find it. There is only one person there who is a house keeper and you have to reach the owner of the Inn by text. Also the walls are super thin and I could hear a couples conversation next to our room. God forbid anyone walks up or down the stairs at night to the second floor. It echoes throughout the whole Inn and wakes everyone up. The bathrooms don't have much counter space at all and there are no blow dryers. It was difficult fitting two people's toiletries on the sink counter. Only reason I would recommend this place to anyone is if they are by themselves, a super low maintenance person, have a small car, and it is not winter. Even then...
Read moreTypically, i avoid motel 6 because of the transient population they attract for being the least expensive accommodations.... However, in comparison to the mammoth inn- i would say motel 6 maybe a better option because at least the corporate motel has some level of quality regarding the building, the room, ect. The mammoth inn has no quality about it- from the front door to the bed in a room & ear plugs provided on the bed side table. This place feels like a self serving business. I would never recommend this place. The aroma of pine.sol cleaner is so pervasive, I feel like I'm in a different country. Mammoth is general is truly rundown... The place is a hostel, I feel i paid $69. For a bed & $100. For a private bathroom. The advertised room rate was $139. I was charged more for a Saturday night stay. Because the inn is self-serve- The notices in the room about keys, parking passes, pets, etc. Made me feel like a criminal before an infraction occurred. Slumlord conditions, hollow doors, hollow walls, hollow cieling to upstairs room floors. With fictional writing of room descriptions, aka false advertising, Absentee management. The night became so creepy, I went to my car for sleep, at a different location. I had reserved 2 nights at this place. I changed locations & communicated with someone unidentified with a los angeles area code via text that i would be leaving for all the reasons stated above. They would not refund my money. They did offer a voucher for other properties in solvang & malibu. I replied by reminding them that they had no credibility based on this poor quality experience. No...
