Perkins American Food Co. — Restaurant in Mason

I'm only leaving 2 stars because the food was tasty. This place is DISGUSTING! Dusty vents, broken tile walls in the bathroom exposing dirty wall studs, and sooooo many dirty tables. No eye contact from any employee. Our food was good, but that's not saying that anything we ordered was delivered to our table correctly or in a timely manner. They were out of a lot of items including 2 of the 4 items that my children wanted for their kids meals. There were 6 employees that I saw, but they were hardly in the dining room. More than half of the restaurant was empty but each table full of dirty dishes. The other half was full of people waiting for their food to be delivered, crowding at the front to be seated, or waiting for someone to come to the register to check out. There were numerous trays around the restaurant also covered with dirty dishes. Both my son and husband's meals were delivered to us wrong. My daughter spilled her milk, and we were told that she would be given another cup of milk, but we never received it, and our spill was never cleaned up. Our server never checked on us and no one else was around, so we were forced to take syrup from a vacated table.. eww. When my son finally got his fries that he hadn't received with his meal, we put them directly into a box to leave with. We were over charged, but it was fixed. We waited for a long time to cash out. Perkins is okay, but I don't ever find myself actively wanting to go to Perkins. I mainly only come here when it is with older family who like to go. The service is incredibly slow, but that is excusable in the current times, so it isn't my main concern, just something worth noting. The food itself isn't very good. I almost always find things to either be incredibly dry or unnaturally greasy. This opinion is subjective though as I hear others do enjoy it. The coffee is weak despite this restaurant mainly focusing on breakfast. The muffins are spectacular though, so if you do go to Perkins I would recommend either ordering a muffin with your meal as a side or taking some to go. The restaurant itself isn't very clean. The tables are often sticky, and the windows look like they haven't been wiped in months. I'm not sure if this is because I happen to come in after messy groups or if it is because they do not clean things properly, but either way it is uncomfortable. One thing I do like is how they aren't crazy with their menu. Everything on there makes sense, there is a good variety, and there isn't an overload of random foods that take a lot of time to make. As a former employee of this company, I was more than dissatisfied with the service in this particular facility. It took almost 10 minutes for someone to come take our drink orders. Our first server was taking our orders and having a conversation with the other staff at the front area. I got the chicken bacon broccoli pasta, the chicken had jerky like textures. There was no lemon pepper flavoring. My mother got a turkey club that should have had a balsamic aioli, instead she was served mayonnaise. The entire time we were sitting there all the staff management included was standing in the front complaining about "never having s aturdays off." "Servers not tipping people out correctly." "Talking in a foul manner about another server." We couldn't even enjoy a conversation because they were being so loud. We will not be returning to this facility. Our server left in the middle of our service, and another server was sent to our table. There was no introduction, for either server, as soon as our food was delivered we were served our check. I have never felt more dismissed at a restaurant. I highly recommend not stopping in at this supremely unprofessional...
