Pros: +They had two of the loveliest dogs there to greet you. +The bed was comfortable +Walking distance (like 60 secs) from the beach and a quick 20 mins walk to the heart of Lahaina +Great bar, Spanky’s, about a block away for easy nightcaps +Upon check in they give you a little tour of the street and make sure you know where everything is. +They offer use of bikes, snorkel gear, beach chairs, sunscreen, bbq (we didn’t use any of that so no comment on the conditions). +Everyone working there had a good, chill attitude and would probably be very open to helping you plan your day.
Neutral: •The bedroom was adequate in size but not spacious by any means. •The owner’s son offers you a big bud of marijuana upon check in, if you’re into that (we were not).
Cons: —This is not a hotel. It is a house with bedrooms to rent. (Each w a private bathroom I’m assuming). But don’t expect turn down service or even maid service—no hotel conveniences. —The chrome was peeling off the fixtures in the bathroom. Additionally the bathroom was VERY small, the shower smaller still. Definitely tight quarters for two people to share. —The toiletry offering was a inoperative wall dispenser of shampoo and body wash. You will need to bring all your own necessities. (Luckily I swiped the toiletries from the hotel we stayed at from another island and brought them with me or I would have been out of luck.) —The “front desk” is a junk filled room that you can’t really enter…so they “check you in” on the stoop in front of the stairs. —They let acquaintances not staying at the hotel use the small pool. The one time we used the pool it was filled with big floaties and 2 adorable but screaming kids that weren’t even staying at the Old Lahaina House and, selfishly, it took away from our experience.
All in all, the place seemed a little run down (rust stains on the stucco, peeling chrome, patio area a jumble of stuff) but if you’re not going to be spending much time in your room it’s a good value for just a place to lay your...
Read moreThank you so much to Sherry and your lovely family/staff at Old Lahaina House. My brother and I spent our last 8 nights in Hawaii here, and absolutely loved it!
We stayed in the Double Palms room which was fine for us. Sure, it's not a flashy 5 star resort like Hilton, Sheraton etc, however, this place has everything you need! Clean rooms, spacious bathroom, air conditioning, pool and free wifi. Add the beautiful family who run this place and you have yourself a pleasant experience!
We very much felt at home as it was so cosy. We were quite sad to leave, as we felt like we were leaving our family. During our 3 week stay in Hawaii, this was the only place where we got to know our fellow travellers that stayed here. It was amazing getting to know everyone as we all came from different parts of the world. (Australia, Germany, USA).
They were going through renovations, but we were not bothered by that.
Sherry, Garry, Tiana, Randy, Chris (and other staff lady, sorry I cannot remember your name), thank you all so very much for your warmth in welcoming us, your help with organising tours & transportation, recommendations of where to eat (808 Grindz for example) AND your great company during the nights, having jam sessions singing along together. That was so fun!!
Oh and I cannot forget to mention the beautiful girls (dogs) Momma, Sophie and Muffin 👧 they seriously made my heart melt, they are sooooo cute!!! I am not an animal person, but these 3 girls definitely knew their way to my heart!
Ahhh I could go on. This place is 2min walk from beach, 15min walk to shops, and its situated in a very residential area so you get the feeling of how people in Hawaii live.
All we wanted was a clean place to stay, security for our luggage and air con. If thats what you are after, and for a good price, then this is the place for you! I will probably stay here again when I visit Maui.
Thank you again so so sooooo much Sherry and family!!
Mahalo and Alooooooooooooha,

Read moreI would consider renaming this place Old Lahaina "Home" because that is what the owner, staff, and animals made this place feel like. The first night was simply a taste of what the rest of our week long stay would be, and it only got better from there. Sherry, the owner, built a beautiful, comfortable, accommodating, and loving environment within the Old Lahaina House which ultimately made our departure from Hawaii bittersweet. Every morning and evening, Sherry would come out from her office and talk to us about our experiences around the remarkable island of Maui, offering any piece of advice she could to make sure that we make the best of our trip. In addition to the owner's impeccable hospitality, the rooms themselves are very cozy and let in an abundant amount of light, allowing your mornings to start with a beautiful sunrise, a tropical background, and a lovely tune from the local birds. The rooms also included a coffee machine, coffee and creamer, dishes, a spacious mini fridge, a microwave, towels, and additional linens. We had our own bathroom and closet as well. If anything else is needed, Sherry is always available for you. I recommend starting your mornings early by the poolside with a cup of coffee in hand beside the lovely sunbathing animals that reside at Old Lahaina House. The local community has an authentic Hawaiian vibe with kind, welcoming neighbors as well as a beach right across from the guesthouse. I am so happy to have experienced my first travel trip in Maui with Sherry and her family at the Old Lahaina "Home." Thank you for leaving a remarkable, everlasting impression of Hawaii...
