Three stars feels more harsh, really seems to border on 4. Here's what I liked, and what could use some attention at Huong Nam.
Pho was good and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. Feels odd to eat a hot soup while on a hot island but the pho kind of hit a sweet spot for me. Hot tasty soup meets skin that is hot to the touch thanks to an afternoon on the waves.
Staff was friendly but service was just ok. We are in the middle, maybe end, of a pandemic, so I don't really want chatty servers hanging out asking how our flight was. That being said, it's nice to get checked on now and then.
Kids left happy, fed and watered. They are currently asleep with warm pho in their tummies and sunburns on their backs. Life is good.
Restaurant decor felt more Hanoi than Hawaii and that is a positive thing. You want to eat Bun Bo Hue from the authentic Hanoi place, trust me. Try the Poke from the Hawaiian place tomorrow night.
I'd go back again but mostly because I love Vietnamese. Price was right for what we got, we were pleased with the food and grateful to be away from all the other tourists slamming some Fish Slidders and Miller Lites over at...
Read moreIf you are craving Vietnamese food while you're in Maui please make a stop here! Located in Lahaina front st this family owned restaurant was so delicious. We wanted a little meal before going to a luau so we ordered their shrimp papaya salad and the bbq pork summer rolls!
Not only was the food fresh and flavorful but they totally rocked the presentation which was surprising! We just expected food on a plate but you could tell they arranged it thoughtfully.
Indoor and outdoor seating available. They also give you a key to access the clean bathrooms located upstairs! The owner's were super kind and friendly.
Best parking can be found for free along the street and just walk into the plaza to find this gem on the bottom floor.
I highly recommend this restaurant to...
Read moreI'm visiting from Portland, OR and was craving Vietnamese food and found this gem nestled off of Front St. Head in The Wharf (shops and restaurants) head back in the center, away from the road past the touristy shops and you'll find an unexpected quiet spot with a few other restaurants and seating for all of them. I ordered the lemongrass chicken vermicelli and even though I took a little too long to walk home, my food was absolutely delish and fresh. The pickled veggies were crisp and fresh, the chicken was well seasoned, the noodles not too firm and not too soft, and the nuoc cham was well balanced. The service was friendly and prompt and the price was very reasonable. Don't miss this lovely little spot when...
