If you are in Maui, book with Maui Adventure Cruises! You won't regret it. We were there early December and booked their Lanai Dolphin Adventure, which had us snorkeling the most amazing sites. Cary, our captain told us about the history of Lana'i island, which is quite fascinating. He had a lot of knowledge of the history of the entire area and knew just where to take us. We snorkeled our first site off the island of Lana'i and saw so many colorful fish, reef sharks, my first wild octopus!! On our way we encountered a large pod of spinner dolphins--they are incredibly social, coming right up along side the boat. Cary was awesome in taking his time so we could enjoy the dolphins, it never felt like we had to just 'look and go'. One of the best things about MAC is their rafts--you aren't on a double decker boat viewing from way over the water. You are on water level, you can lean over and take underwater video should an opportunity present itself. So when dolphins (and whales!) swim up next to the boat, it's so close and amazing. After snorkeling our first site, Cary asked if we wanted to try to see some whales--resounding YES from the boat participants. Again, knowing just where to take us--we had an amazing experience. It was early for whale season per the calendar but the whales had just started showing up and we were thrilled to watch some males competing for a female. And again with the raft vs. a large double decker boat--one of the whales swam under the boat, what an experience! While you aren't allowed to get close to the whales yourself, if they choose to come close to your boat, you get the experience of a lifetime, and you are forced to stay and not move the boat until they move on (oh darn!). Once the whales moved on, we were able to head to our final snorkeling site, where Cary knew there'd be many turtles, and he was right. We snorkeled with so many turtles. They are so magical :) We were on our trip from 7:30-12:30 and I walked away feeling like I made memories of a lifetime in that short period of time. I would have done this trip every day I was in Maui if I could have. It was a mix of the wildlife showing up, the perfect boat vessel for such an adventure and the captain and crew of the boat. The crew made sure we had what we needed, all the snorkel gear, anyone who needed flotation devices while snorkeling, they had a packed lunch for everyone that was very plentiful and as much water/soft drinks/juices as you wanted, and most of all just an incredibly friendly crew, making sure we had everything we needed to have a great time. I can't wait to go back to Maui, and take my daughter on a...
Read moreWe brought our entire family from Alaska to enjoy whale watching. My husband and I have went on numerous trips over the years with several companies. We never used this company before so we tried them out as we had a large party and they had space available for part of our family, so we split up our group and planned to do two separate trips on different days. On our first trip, we asked Allison, the boat deck hand if we could bring our daughter who was 22 weeks pregnant on our next trip we book. We were told yes, as long as it wasn't past 29 weeks and we sat at the back of the boat where it was less turbulent. With this information, we booked the second cruise. We showed up early so we could check in early enough to ensure a spot at the back. At check out time our daughter was not allowed to go. We even signed their waiver. There should've been no issue. The owner was very nice and explained their concern and as I do fully understand, I'm still very disappointed that we came all this way and didn't get to experience what we came for. His concern was if she would miscarry we would sue. I explained that I thought that was what the waiver was for. If the waiver doesn't protect him then why have us sign it? If one of my other family members were seriously injured or even died due to a trip on his boat, what would stop me from suing over that? He said that I could still sue. I will say the trip we took the first time was great and the captain and Allison were very great. Awesome in fact. I'm just really disappointed on how we were deceived. We will not use them again due to the misinformation that lead to the disappointment. I'm giving 3 stars for the crew and the experience. I wanted to give 5 but the misinformation of their policy and the ridiculous waiver is why I'm giving them a...
Read moreCHOOSE THIS ONE! How do you know which boat tour to get on? They all look the same! But every time I go on Maui Adventure Cruises (because they’re the only ones I go with now because they are the best!), there are other regulars that ALSO say MAC is the only boat they get on now too, because nothing else compares.
The trips are always beyond phenomenal, their captains and crew are safe, fun, knowledgeable, and even though they get to be on the water daily they’re just as thrilled to see whales so up close and personal — so the joy and awe are shared by all.
It’s the experience of a lifetime and this is far and wide the best company you’ll find. They go above and beyond and you’re guaranteed to have a trip to remember. After my first trip I was hooked and am SO GRATEFUL they even offer a whale season 10 pass for those that are hooked.
Have seen brand new baby whales, countless jumping/breaching babies and adults (like you would see in a movie!), whales swimming up to us and under the boat, whales waving at us up close, blowing bubbles at us, twirling upside down and showing us their belly. It’s basically guaranteed at this point that I’m going to squeal with delight at some point on a trip with Maui Adventure Cruises! You’ll enjoy it as much as I do!
In my experience, Maui Adventure Cruises is the only company to go with — heard tons of stories from others that tried another company and then came back that continue to affirm MAC is the best.
They’re slip 11 at Lahaina Harbor and booking online or even calling is best because it guarantees your spot.
Just go!! Thank me later - I’m so grateful someone told me to go specifically to Maui Adventure Cruises, happy I get to pay it forward...
