American Inn — Hotel in McKinney

King room was clean and comfortable. The bed was offset to the double-lights on the wall, which were positioned for a two-queen room, not a king, so the lighting was odd. But the room was clean, bedding was fresh. The window AC/heater was unusually quiet for a hotel room unit. On the downside: Only one bath towel and it was pretty flimsy, and the fan in the commode/shower room was very noisy like it was about to go out. Fridge was a good size for a hotel room but microwave was tiny. There was no safety latch on the door - just a deadbolt. I consider that a big safety drawback. The tiny office was closed when we checked in late, so I had to stand outside in chill air while being checked in at a service window facing the driveway. Check-in took a long time, and the clerk was not very proficient in English pronunciation and was hard to understand, so I am downgrading the service to poor. Overall, average rating, especially considering the price. I've stayed in worse budget hotels. The management seems to care...

WARNING I stayed here for one night. An I will never stay here ever again it's dirty an nasty there was stuff like oil thrown all over the walls an they will find an excuse to keep your deposit. I was smoking outside because there all non smoking rooms an when I went back inside the hotel phone rang I picked up the an the awful man at the front desk told me no smoking outside then I went to the office to find out what the problem is he told to go outside an take a couple of puffs an go back in who says these things to people that is very controlling it's very clear that they are very racist as they claim not to be they are. If you're looking for a hotel in Mckinney Tx that is comfortable, clean with a friendly staff look no further. I had been driving most of the night and was tired. I just wanted to be able to take a nap and shower. Granted it was approx. 7am and checkout time only few hours away. I had no problem with paying the full rate or being out of the room by checkout time that morning. The first two hotels I stopped at I was told there weren't any rooms available even though it was obvious by the number of vehicles in the parking lot neither hotel was full, nor was either hotel's staff member very friendly. I then stopped at Americas Best Value Inn, not only was I able to get a room, the desk staff was friendly. Will be the hotel I stay in anytime...
