Super 8 by Wyndham Melbourne — Hotel in Melbourne

We made a reservation but we're misinformed on the deposit amount. $150 for credit cards and $250 for debit cards. We we're denied lodging which isn't the end of the world. The best is yet to to come. The management at the Super 8 in Melbourne, Florida told hotels.com we were a no show and kept our money. Since the location is on skid row ( drunks, addicts and homeless are in abundance. Hypodermic syringes on the sidewalks and on the streets.) My girlfriend and I had to resort to sleeping on the roof of a boarded up Wendy's restraint across the street with all our luggage. The individual at the desk was rude and disrespectful telling us that there was no possible way we could have reserved a room at his establishment for $85 dollars. I found a room on hotels.com today for $56 dollars. If this is what is to be expected from a business owner in the hospitality trade the I will have to not only forgo any future thoughts of staying at Super 8 in Melbourne ever. Rude, disrespectful ,dishonest and outright thieves in my experience , maybebthese individuals should have stayed wherever they emigrated from. We have enough of this type of behaviour in our country already. I truly have quite a bit of more choice things to impart but it is not socially acceptable so I will refrain. Hallways smelt moldy. Towels smelled moldy. When we asked for fresh towels they kept asking why we needed more then 2 towels. And staff invades privacy. Night shift staff very pleasant. Day shift Cleaning lady tells manager what to do. Will not stay here ever again. I will say bed was comfy. But my clothes smell moldy now. Will say hotel made this trip the worst experience in a new town. If you don’t mind mold smells and busted tubs then this is the place to stay. This hotel did not make us feel safe or safe to leave our stuff unattended in room due to cleaning lady that goes out of her way to make your stay uncomfortable. Almost that she doesn’t want people to stay here so she doesn’t have to clean. Same lady on first floor that was still working on same room the entire morning while the other staff were almost done with there rounds. Manager accused of of smoking in room. When clearly signs everywhere says no smoking Or $250 fine. So if I’m staying in a cheap hotel for price not luxury why on earth would I smoke in the room. Manager was not professional. Very disrespectful. Treated us as peasants. Made the rest of my last day out here very unpleasant. Super 8 is now on a do not stay there list for us. And it’s a shame because we travel quite a bit. STAY AWAY! $150 deposit scam and moldy musty old concrete building. I tried to open the window for fresh air but they were caulked shut. The old AC unit and dehumidifier rattled like a freight train, our room smelled, the wall paint was peeling in spots and the remote didn't work on the vintage TV. When I was leaving my room for checkout I saw owner Minesh Patel in the hallway and mentioned my concerns, he became furious got in my face and told me he has 56 dehumidifiers and the buckets with blue liquid in the hallways are technology used in outer space. He then told me he wasn't going to refund my $150 deposit while pointing at bread crumbs I had left over on the desk from the potato balls I ordered from Meg O’Malley's Irish Pub the night before. I disputed the charge with my card company and got my $150 refunded back. I was told this business gets lots of disputes for card charges. Skip this place it's just not worth it and there are better options in the area. UPDATE: The owner response is a LIE, Nobody smoked in the room.
