My grown daughter and I decided to do this as a fun way to celebrate my birthday. She had done a class before at another location and I had never done one so I was super excited for our mother daughter session for a fun, relaxing evening with our wine. It was anything but that. We found it to be more stressful than anything. The instructor was to our back so we found ourselves trying to look up at a screened picture on the wall plus back at the instructor. We got behind within about 20 minutes, especially mixing colors. We found that the picture/design was too complicated for the time allotted for the class, especially for beginners. And forget about even touching our wine. Even if we grabbed a few sips, you never would have had time to stop and go to the bathroom so better not sip! The lady across from me was drinking heavily and constantly pushed her easel up against mine which kept moving my canvas almost every time I took a stroke. I kept moving mine away from hers only for her to push hers against mine again. We ended up with two unfinished paintings just sitting in the closet at home. And the instructor was rude to me at the end and talked to me as if a child telling me that she was going to start cleaning the opposite side of the room and by the time she gets to my table, that was it! In other words, I had a small window of time and I better be finished and/or needed to leave. My daughter noticed her tone with me and was shocked at how she addressed me. Overall, it was stressful and not enjoyable. For more complicated pictures, more time should be allotted for the class and the classes should be smaller. This was a huge class. I only saw maybe 3 or 4 pictures in the group that were...
Read moreDoing the at home couples paint night. I like it but the video provided is VERY rushed. Being that it's a video I'd think it could be slowed down.
EDIT**. I reviewed it in the middle of the video or waiting for one of the stages of our painting to dry. I was frustrated because I felt like she was rushing and it wasn't until the end that I realized how obvious this was and how poorly her tutorial helped. if she had put a warning saying this is a sped up or partial tutorial pay more attention to the detail on this portion I'm speeding through it or anything along those lines it would have made a significant difference. I have added photos blue so you can see the difference between the advertised painting and what she actually let us to paint in the tutorial. I feel like we were robbed of an opportunity to produce a better painting because she rushed and didn't care about the quality of her tutorial. It's a special frustrating because we could have purchased the materials for less than $20 and done a tutorial off of YouTube and ended up with a much better painting. this is really disappointing because I really enjoyed the live class in person before the pandemic. all it would take to correct this is to slow down and take the time to actually walk people through the steps to make a painting that looks similar to what's advertised. My husband and I are both very disappointed and do not plan on using this...
Read moreI just hosted a Birthday Party with my closest family and friends at the Downtown Melbourne studio location, and had an amazing experience from start to finish. I highly recommend Painting with a Twist for private parties (or date nights) and I myself and my guests had such a fun time painting! Caitlyn in particular was so helpful with coordinating my event in advance, taking all of the stress out of hosting a large event for 25 people, and happily taking care of my special requests I asked about to make the night perfect. During the event Caitlyn then continued to amaze me with teaching the class skillfully but also simply so that everyone could follow along and succeed with their “sea turtle” painting regardless of their experience level or inherent artistic ability. Our two aids were Caylin and Yoyo and they were extremely helpful to everyone and assets to the event as a whole so that my guests could ask specific questions about their art piece and get any help that they needed (especially helping me get caught up when I fell behind the class!). I have received so much positive feedback so far about everyone having a blast!!! I did too. It was a 37th Birthday to remember, and I want to Thank You all for making it so fun...
