I am giving this store a one-star review because of a recent experience I had with a store employee. This past weekend I went with a small group of friends to downtown Melbourne. We stopped by some of the stores as we waited to be seated at a restaurant nearby. I told my friends we should stop by Glitter Alley, as I had been to this store many times with my family and enjoyed buying small trinkets here and there. However, from the moment my friends and I stepped in to the store, we were immediately being watched and stared at by an older male employee. My friends and I were immediately uncomfortable but were unsure what exactly we were meant to do besides continue browsing. The man continued to move and tilt his head in our direction, making it clear that he was watching us — to the point where my friends decided to suddenly leave because of how uncomfortable the staring was. As we walked past the man to exit the store, he very clearly said “you all are just wasting your time here and better leave” which confused us even more. At that point I was fed up and turned around to ask him if we weren’t allowed in the store and why. According to him, we were quote “too rowdy and we’re going to break things” and so therefore we shouldn’t be in the store anymore. This is very untrue, as we merely lightly touching objects we found interesting and never once were about to “break something.” Aka this employee lied and threatened to kick us out for no reason. My best guess is that since my friends and I are teenagers he believed we were either going to steal or make a mess, which— and would you believe it— we did neither in the less then 10 minutes we were in the store. I also have a suspicion that the man was racially profiling a few of my friends, since he likely wouldn’t have said something if it were just me and my family there. Another thing— my mother called to store to ask why we were kicked out for no reason and this employee to her to “go to hell” several times. I hope whoever’s in charge of Glitter Alley fires him and sets their employees straight because there should be no reason to treat customers this way. I will never step foot in this store again and hope everyone is warned on the potential negative experiences that...
Read moreI have gone to glitter alley many times. Even brought friends and family from out of town to buy. Yesterday it was my daughter’s birthday and she wanted to take her friends to see the store she likes to shop at. While we waited for her birthday dinner reservation next door. Her friends are all well educated kids. A man I’m assuming the owner decided to be nasty and kick the kids ( 17 year olds) not really kids and have their own money to spend) out for no reason. I called this morning to complain to them about kicking out my daughter and friends for no reason.
The man the answered said he was the one that kicked them out bc they were touching things ? Really so nobody is suppose to touch anything they want to buy ? My daughter and friends were not even there for a minute and he kicked them out. Needless to say this man was NOT apologetic or cared to make things right and told me to go to hell. DO NOT GO to this store, they have no customer service. You have lost a loyal customer and will not be recommending this store to anyone. There are plenty of stores in downtown that you can spend...
Read moreI can't put into words how much I love coming here. I live locally and never pass up an opportunity to shop at glitter alley. It is truly the most amazing store. From jewelry, to statues, purses, Christmas stuff...it's endless ocean themed happiness. This store is magic. You can walk around for hours and still have plenty to see and even more you want to buy. Everything is beautiful and quality made. The people that work there are also lovely, friendly, and helpful. The owner is awesome. I just love it. Just go there and know you'll be walking out with armfuls full of stuff and more that you'll likely come back for. Don't forget to look up when you're there too! Bring your visitors from out of state and let them experience it as well. My favorite place in Melbourne. There's no way you aren't leaving there with some cool items and a smile. Obsessed...
