They don't even deserve a single star rating considering the punishments they have given to me that too a loyal IHG platinum customer.
My experience with this specific Crowne plaza was so pathetic. here are the reasons why I say this.
We were two visitors who booked the room, instead of allocating us the rooms on the same floor, they allocated us on two different floors ( 8 and 11). They said, all the rooms are occupied but I saw hardly 15 to 20 cars in the parking lot.
One of us went to 11th floor, and surprised to see that the allocated room was not ready, bed was not made. The TV was running. it made me feel like, janitor ran away from the room while cleaning when he/she saw a new job opportunity in TV. that is how it was.
I ran into the reception mentioning about what we saw in 11th floor, it was disappointing that the receptionist seemed to be not paying attention about my complaints and she didn't even mind to show a basic courtesy to apologize for the mismanagement and allocated another room in the 8th floor which she said before all the rooms are occupied.
After allocating, in one of the room on 89th floor, there were dirty footprints in the bath area and the tub was found Untidy.
While booking the hotel, we opted for Breakfast which was charged from us. The receptionist forgot to give the coupon for one of us and when I asked for it, she asked a series of questions which sounded like an interrogation session between a police officer and a bugler.
In the morning also, we had a few surprises from the hotel staffs. we totally understand that the breakfast buffet was not arranged when there is short of staff and that too when the bearer and the helper for the cook are the same. However, it took forever to even provide the ordered food. Since I saw a delay in ordering food, I just thought of ending up with ordering a glass of Orange Juice and Apple Juice, where she told both are available. However, since she didn't provide the juice for past 15 minutes, I thought of grabbing a glass of water from the front desk since I was feeling very thirsty. After 20 minutes she brought Orange juice after serving everybody in the restaurant and when I asked for Apple Juice, she said no Apple juice which she said there is.
As a platinum member with IHG group of hotels, I was always been treated very well in all the hotels and my experiences were exceptionally wonderful, but this one. I felt like, they are intentionally punishing the IHG platinum members. or they deliberately wanted to keep the customers away from IHG group. the funny part here is, I introduced a Hilton Honor customer to IHG, betting him to experience the IHG, hence I opted Crowne Plaza and unfortunately, I believe, he decided not to switch from...
Read moreI took my 5yo granddaughter for the weekend because a recent trip didn't have a pool and I had promised to make that up to her. We had a king room on the 7th floor. For the most part, after we closed the door, you'd think we were the only people on the floor. The staff was professional and courteous. Check in was quick and easy. Breakfast was included with my stay but I think that might be extra for most. It was nice with the usuals...eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuits & gravy, fruit, yogurt, breakfast breads, oatmeal, asst of cereals and juices, milk and coffee. The chef isn't out to impress or win any awards but it's enough to say you had "something". There was a problem with the tub stopper; maintenance came up quickly and fixed the issue so my granddaughter could have her bath.
So, the main reason we were there was so my granddaughter could enjoy the pool. This property has both indoor and outdoor. She spent almost 100% in the outdoor pool as she said the indoor pool was too cold. I only got in the outdoor pool and it was quite warm, yet refreshing. The important thing is that she loved it and I had a hard time pulling her away each day. There were2 family reunions at the hotel, lots of kids, no shortage of other kids for her to play with and, impressively, no shortage of towels! Staff seemed to stay on top of making sure the towels stayed cleaned and stocked. I often saw someone walking through, picking up discarded, wet towels.
The only reason I didn't give a 5 star rating is because of the ELEVATOR situation. Three elevators should be plenty for a hotel this size with only 14 floors but we were often left waiting for long periods of time, when out did arrived, it would be so overly crowded. Once, in the L floor, it took the people so long to get off, it closed back up and left without letting any passengers on. Thankfully, I was never in a hurry to get anywhere.
I parked my car on Friday wheni checked in and didn't move it until Sunday when we checked out. Several eating places are within walking distance and she and I walked to Taco Bell on Saturday for lunch. I never worried or felt unsafe.
I would definitely consider staying at this...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I are celebrating his birthday this weekend here in Memphis. I researched hotels, and for the price this one seemed to be the best deal. I read all of the horrible reviews, and I must say....This place is NOTHING like those horrible reviews state. We checked in around 9:15pm and the hotel was super busy. There were a couple of girls sports teams here with their parents, and the lobby was nuts! With that being said, I was greeted with a smile, and the checkin process was quick and painless. Even with all the people in the lobby, the phone ringing constantly, and working to check me in...the staff had excellent customer service. Once checked in we went to our room on the 10th floor. There were no weird smells in the hotel, the elevator was in proper working order, and the halls were spotless. Our room was not as large as some I have been in, but for the two of us it was perfect. Everything was clean, bed made, plenty of towels, nice decor, fridge clean, coffee maker stocked and ready to go. We dropped our bags and headed back down stairs where we sat at the bar for a beer and watched the end of a few basketball games. The bar staff was quick and polite. Beer was well priced, and the bar was very pretty. We have one more night here at the Plaza and we are enjoying ourself. The only reason I rate it a 4 star and not a 5 is because it is in an "odd location", but we do not feel unsafe here. I would not consider this to be a ghetto part of town like some have stated. It is in a quiet area that is easily accessible. Personally, when I stay at a hotel I do not like to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle as I am looking to catch some good sleep. We slept well last night, and had no issues even though the hotel is full of people. I have been in many hotels and do not settle for "subpar" when it comes to my hotel accommodations. This hotel meets my high standards and the value is excellent. We will stay again next time we...
