Let me be the most honest review here. Take a seat, grab a scotch.
TLDR: This was the most disappointing steak experience of my life. My wife and I are also nauseous, hours later.
Some pallete context:
I've had dry aged steaks at Gordon Ramsey's in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and San Diego.
β Wagyu A5 ive tried in New Orleans and it was melt in your mouth but not as good as a dry aged prime filet.
This sets the tone for what a dry aged prime steak should taste like....
π€·ββοΈ So, Prime 112...
The portions are bigger than you might normally expect (great & surprising!)
We had lobster bisque in a large deep bowl with plenty of lobster and the chargrilled osyters were perfect. My wife at half and she doesnt like oysters.
Steaks, what you come here for... no, just no, so disappointing.
We ordered a 12oz dry aged prime new york strip and a 12oz prime filet.
The filet was med-rare as requested.
The dry aged prime new york strip steak was rare, and no one checked so I just ate it unfortunately as it was pre-cut and feared it would be overcooked and take too long as it was busy.
The filet was tender and had more flavor than the dry aged prime new york.
What?!
How does a filet have more flavor? Than a dry aged prime new york??
The NY steak tasted like a softer choice cut and it was rare instead of med-rare. (rare is a cool red center, it was cool and not even warm)
After spending $450 or so with the tip, I realized this is probably the worst steak experience out of the half dozen places ive been of similar or better quality.
By far the most expensive and not worth it - at all.
The steaks just didnt pack that flavor.
The server had the gall to say the dry aged new york has that most "umami flavor" in the menu.
Is this dudes taste buds working?
Man, the dry aged new york tasted like my cousin cooking a choice steak by like boiling it in water! (and not the good way, like sous vide)
I had to write this review not to notify management, but to notify the potential customers.
THIS is supposed to be a steak house.
It has Wagyu on the menu...
Why would the dry aged prime new york have less flavor than a filet? And the prime filet wasn't even that powerful in flavor, as it normally would be.
Honestly.
Truly.
The most disappointing steak ive ever had, that I paid for, in my life.
But, did we finish?
No, man! We only ate half of each steak.
12oz is a big portion, but if it was real prime dry aged and cooked perfectly I'm sure id finish it.
NOTE: It did taste like it maybe had minimal salt or pepper, so maybe this is why the flavor lacked... But im telling you... it was like a year old frozen steak or something. Its soul left its body, the flavor was not there.
I hope your experience is better.
But please trust me, that steak did NOT taste dry aged or even prime. Tender but no flavor.
$450 meal??
You couldnt put a gun to my head and make me buy a steak from there again.
Here are the steakhouses ive eaten, so we all know im not some random male Karen:
π S Tier β Larsen's Steak House (La Jolla, CA)
π A Tier β Doris Metropolitan (New Orleans, LA) β Gordon Ramsey's Hells Kitchen
π B Tier β Bavette's Steakhouse & Bar (Las Vegas, NV) β Prime 112, South Beach (Miami, FL)
π C Tier β Outback Steakhouse(s)
π’ D Tier β Sage Room at Harveys (Lake Tahoe, NV)
P.S. It's Midnight now (3hr+ later) and both my wife and I are nauseous. Fantastic π
I think we were just served bad or old steaks, but who knows. I sure...
Β Β Β Read moreLocated at the heart of Miami Beach, Prime One Twelve is not just another steakhouse; it's a culinary experience. Nestled within the historic Browns Hotel, this establishment has been setting the bar high since its inception in 2004, thanks to the visionary restaurateur Myles Chefetz.
From the moment you step in, you're greeted with an ambiance that is both upscale and energetic. Unlike the typical dimly lit steakhouse, Prime One Twelve offers a lively setting where the lighting accentuates your meal, and the bustling room creates a collective dining atmosphere that is unparalleled.
During a recent business dinner, the table was adorned with a selection of dishes that showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality and innovation. The chicken was perfectly cooked, retaining its juiciness and flavor. An accompanying salad was not just any salad; it was a delightful mix of fresh ingredients that tantalized the taste buds. And the sliders? They were a testament to Prime One Twelve's ability to take a classic and elevate it to gourmet standards.
But it's not just about the food. The experience is an invasion of the senses. From the aroma of fresh ingredients wafting through the air to the sounds of up-tempo music, combined with the sight of an eclectic mix of upscale clientele, it's clear why Prime One Twelve is the most sought-after reservation in town.
For those looking for a modern twist on the traditional steakhouse experience, Prime One Twelve delivers in spades. The menu boasts classics with a twist, from the finest quality dry-aged beef to unique accessories like the Truffled Lobster Mac and Cheese and Kobe Beef Sliders.
Prime One Twelve is more than just a dining destination; food, ambiance, and service converge to offer an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for both casual dinners and business...
Β Β Β Read moreDisappointment is an understatement. After making reservations weeks in advance, we arrive at Prime 112 only to be greeted by a crowd full of people blocking the door waiting to be seated, and a hostess with an attitude. We waited in the crowded entrance as our table was being set up, only to be told that weβre going to be sitting in the βnewβ dining room half a block down the street.
We followed the very unimpressed hostess down the street to βPrime Privateβ, which is a glorified Buffalo Wild Wings. There were TVs posted up all over the room, and top hits playing over the speakers. Iβm all for some Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, but thatβs not what Iβd like playing while I enjoy a $500+ meal. Atmosphere aside, the service was horrific. Our waitress was not qualified to be serving people in a fine dining atmosphere. After having to ask other servers, and even busboys, to check on the status of our food and drinks, our waitress never once asked us how our appetizers or steaks had turned out. She never asked us if there was anything she could get for us until she eventually saw us speaking with the manager. She was completely absent and constantly zipping past our table without ever looking over.
The food was the only halfway decent thing about this restaurant. Even then, it was obvious that my filet and the lobster macaroni and cheese we had ordered for the table had been sitting out for awhile before it was brought to us. It didnβt have the quality of freshness you get at most steakhouses and was lacking anything stand out or βspecialβ.
Unfortunately, the entire experience was horrible enough that I will not be returning to Prime 112. The meal and experience we had wouldnβt have been worth $100, let alone $500+. There are plenty of other great steakhouses that I would recommend to anyone coming to...
