If I could rate this lower I 100% would. I am a student who was working abroad in America over the summer with my girlfriend and afterwards we went to Miami and stayed here and it was awful. To check in to the hotel, you don’t do it in the building, no, it’s in another hotel across the street. Upon checking in, they ask you for “resort fees” (this place isn’t remotely a resort, it’s a rather run down hotel just along the street of Miami Beach) and charge you $50 a night for that, even though you already pay their booking fee online before booking it. Additionally, the entrance room is a hookah lounge and it smells atrocious and on top of that, they blast music throughout the night until 4 in the morning. Furthermore, when we went to check in, we were told by a woman who’s name I believe was Julia (not 100% sure on that) that our deposit would be returned within 24 hours after checkout, so 2 days after checking out and still not receiving the deposit, I ring them and they tell me it can take up to 3 days, so after 4 days I ring them and then they tell me it can take up to 5, so after 6 days I ring them and they tell me it can take a week, so then with 9 days of not receiving the deposit back (we left the room in perfect condition so we should have been entitled to it), I ring them and they ignore my calls. To this point they had answered them no problem but now they don’t pick up. So I try ringing them another 23 times within the next 3 days after that and they don’t pick up a single time, and in fact I’d say maybe 10 phone calls in, they set up an answering machine that would decline my phone calls instantly, despite this not existing any other time I contacted them. The only time after that that I was able to contact them was by ringing them at 2 in the morning because I figured they would have a different manager for night shifts and they did in fact pick up which I did appreciate although it didn’t resolve the issue. I had to get my bank involved for me to get my $100 deposit back. By far the worst experience I have ever had with a business, they are shady and cowardly and will go to every extent to scam you out of money, whilst providing mediocre rooms (that smell bad). If you are considering visiting Miami Beach please consider somewhere that isn’t the Shelley or the Chesterfield (that’s the building you check in at across the street, they are the number I had to call and was ignored by 23 times because the Shelley’s phone number didn’t...

Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
I recently had an incredibly disappointing and frustrating encounter during my check-in process at Hotel Shelley. My experience was marred by unprofessional staff members who not only refused to allow me to check in but also cited rules that were not mentioned during the booking process.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I expected a smooth and efficient check-in, as any guest would. However, the staff at Hotel Shelley seemed completely unprepared to handle their guests with basic courtesy and professionalism. Their attitude was dismissive, unwelcoming, and lacked the standard hospitality one would expect from a reputable establishment.
To my utter surprise, the staff abruptly denied me the right to check in, citing obscure and unmentioned rules. These rules were conveniently omitted from the booking information provided, leaving me completely blindsided and confused. It is simply unacceptable for a hotel to impose undisclosed regulations on their guests, leaving them feeling deceived and cheated.
Instead of handling the situation in a customer-oriented manner, the staff members at Hotel Shelley exhibited a complete lack of empathy and understanding. Their communication skills were severely lacking, as they failed to provide a clear explanation for the sudden refusal to check me in. This lack of transparency and professionalism only exacerbated my frustration and disappointment.
As a result of this negative experience, I strongly advise against choosing Hotel Shelley as your accommodation option. The unprofessional conduct of the staff, coupled with the undisclosed and arbitrary rules, created an atmosphere of hostility and dissatisfaction. I expected a seamless check-in process and courteous treatment, but instead, I was met with incompetence and disrespect.
Hotel Shelley's failure to uphold basic standards of professionalism and customer service is deeply disappointing. It is my hope that this review serves as a warning to others seeking accommodation in the area, urging them to consider alternative options that prioritize guest satisfaction and a positive experience.
I sincerely hope that Hotel Shelley takes the necessary steps to rectify their shortcomings, improve their staff training, and provide a more transparent and customer-centric approach...
Read moreI recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at Hotel Shelley and felt compelled to share my disastrous experience in hopes of saving others from the same fate. This hotel advertises a luxurious and relaxing stay, but in reality, it was an unbearable nightmare I couldn't wait to escape.
First and foremost, I was blindsided by a staggering $500 security deposit upon arrival. This hidden fee was not mentioned when booking, nor is it standard in the industry. As if that wasn't enough, the hotel also charges a $28 per night "resort fee" – for what, you ask? The only "amenity" provided was an hour of free drinks at a location across the street – hardly worth the price.
The hotel's infrastructure left much to be desired. Cell coverage was non-existent, rendering my phone useless during my stay. To make matters worse, the Wi-Fi was infuriatingly unreliable, only working about 10% of the time. When it did work, I discovered that dating apps were inexplicably blocked, making it difficult to meet people in the area.
Hygiene and functionality were also lacking. The room was unbearably humid, creating a stuffy and uncomfortable environment. This, combined with an infestation of mosquitos, made for a miserable and restless night. I woke up to a dozen mosquito bites all over my body the first night there. The shower proved to be another challenge, with the knob breaking off in my hand and water temperature fluctuating between freezing cold and scalding hot without warning.
When a massive roach made an unsightly guest appearance in the bathroom, the hotel staff's response was appalling. Instead of using designated bug-killing equipment, the hotel attendant killed the roach with my friend's shoe – a clear violation of personal boundaries and a shockingly unprofessional solution.
In summary, I cannot stress enough how deeply disappointed I am with my stay at Hotel Shelley. The hidden fees, poor connectivity, unbearable room conditions, and unprofessional staff make it impossible for me to recommend this establishment to anyone. Save yourself the headache and...
