This place really needs to step up its game. The bathrooms could definitely use more frequent cleaning. Considering the prices, I expected much better food. The beef was too fatty and the chicken burger was more bone than meat—it should also be bigger. The only redeeming feature was the tea, which was quite good. … More

Read moreIf I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. I got off a cruise boat at like 10am, and was in their lobby by 11am. I asked about early check ins just out of curiosity, they said they had none left. I respected that, then confirmed they start at 3pm. The lobby was VERY SMALL, and packed with people. Names being called, shuttles etc. I then went up to the desk to ask about a washroom, since I'll be waiting for 4 hours reading, something I have no problem doing. They explain they don't have one, but next door does. I go next door. I come back and since it's not busy I asked them about storing my luggage so I can go grab a bite to eat as I had seen people store luggage. They said it's only for after you check in for the day you leave. I said, okay cool, thank you. I sat back down, reading, in their lobby chair. Again, when it was quite, as I decided to pre-book an Uber if needed i went up to the desk to ask about their shuttle hours, and if it needs to be booked in advance and if they sell out etc. They explained it starts at 6am. Cool. So far, so good. Until 3pm at check in time. I go up to check-in, and give my seat to someone waiting on a bus because I'm expecting to be able to check-in. Nope! They told me I needed to have my name on a LIST and the list started in the morning. I said "nobody mentioned i needed to get my name on a list just to check in, that doesn't make sence I've been here for hours," she told me she didn't think I had been. I went to stand over by the seats after adding my name to a ridiculously long list. Multiple people then went "wait, what?" And had to do the same, also being told they hadn't been seen before meanwhile one couple had been there since noon, as I looked up the bus route for them and recall speaking with them and watched the guy go up to ask questions earlier too.
Once checked in, she asked me where I wanted to be placed, good thing I noticed they had no elevator, and asked for a "ground" floor which is only 5 steps up. Some people said higher floors away from sound, and then had to struggle with their bags up to the higher floors.
When I entered my room every light was on, which is not very eco-friendly. The AC was CRANKED and it was FREEZING. I went to turn down the AC and it continued to kick in several times. I guess if you want to be cool, ask for the room with the broken AC that is stuck on?
Additionally when entering the bathroom their was a damp cloth on the floor.
As a blonde, my hair is obviously not dark. When I pulled back my bedding there was a dark hair in between my sheets.
All this combined with staff at the desk who talk and complain about other staff infront of guest while checking guest in (litterally called my name then complained about a staff member infront of me and how they make a mess, how they don't like it this busy, where did these people come from, why is "she like that?" In English then going into Spanish complaints, which i think they FORGET people also speak Spanish. I just pretended not to know what they were saying but recognizing key words was appalled about how they speak about guest. I've had cleaner hostels in Miami for a fourth of the price if this place.
If you book here, you'll regret it.
additionally while I was waiting they had 2 shuttles one to the airport and one to the cruise port both iver and hour behind and people complaining in the lobby about it, they blamed it on traffic but people were arriving on a shuttle not provided by this hotel and cabs and users and said traffic was fine. One guy was told to be in the lobby by 1145 for his 12 shuttle and he didn't leave until almost 1240 because "traffic was bad" I'd also reccomend not relying on...
Read moreTLDR: Great location; perfect for traveling construction workers or airport layover things; would not bring family or plan a trip around staying here.
Almost all the negative reviews I read make me feel like they don't stay near airports. I would absolutely kill for something like this in Chicago! Let me note that I spent $100 for the room around 4 days before my stay and there is a free airport shuttle.
What people say about amenities is correct, but my room was fairly updated otherwise. My biggest 2 complaints are about my room: the door has to be pushed closed and the TV is maybe 32 inch from like 2006 with blown speakers. Very minor to me! However, the location easily makes up for it.
The airport shuttle is shared between 3 Wyndham properties but was empty in early afternoon. I did wait about 45 minutes for it and it had several signs asking for gratuities.
The room is typical, although a little small. The hot water was mediocre and seemed to start running out when I took one in late morning. But it was a walk-in. The entire room was very clean. It did lack all good amenities: no fridge, no microwave, I was at the end of the hall so WiFi didn't work. There was also the issue with the door from earlier and my window did not have screens. The air conditioner worked fine (in 70s weather). There was a switch that did not go to anything? But very satisfied overall.
The pool was closed but they offered going next door to their sister property for free. There is no elevator. I repeat, there is NO elevator for your bags. But the first floor was about 4 steps and the staff was willing to help. I really enjoyed the staff. No complaints there.
The location is the best part! It is actually right across from the back side of the airport and the road is extremely busy at all times. There is a Circle K right next to it. There is a Subway connected to it. Within a mile in either direction is ample food choices and other things that you could need. And I mean IHOP, McDonalds, etc. on top of the local, semi authentic food and several bars including Irish Pubs and upscale places about 1.5 miles away. Downtown is not very far. I say semi authentic only because most of what I saw had more Americanized choices than authentic sounding things. But the food was delicious and what I had I could not find around me. I went to the Airport Liquor down the street. Very odd place, but also very reasonable for liquor if that is your thing. And very reasonable for someone who thinks that Miami is super expensive. When looking at nearby online menus, think $15-$20, with sandwiches and fries closer to $8-$12. And tons of meat and fish choices.
I felt safe walking around during the day. I wouldn't walk alone at night, but that is any big city or near any airport.
But it is not for a proper vacation or with children. Go to one of the sister Wyndham properties that are clustered around here (downtown is a short Uber from this area) or just go downtown (but probably without an airport shuttle). I would absolutely stay again for an airport layover or if I was traveling for work for construction or trades.
Note: Remember do NOT book hotels through third party sites. The times people show up and don't have a reservation is appalling. And not the...
