Cafeteria style food place near the Miami airport. Order from the picture menu, or order individual items. You get a large plate of food for about 9 dollars or so. There are dishes like grilled chicken with rice, or more traditional Nicaraguan dishes like cerdo {pork} with yuca. Is it the best Nicaraguan food in Miami? Maybe not, but a good place to explore if you want to try something new that is not Cuban food and you're close to the airport. The other restaurants near the airport are always crowded with a wait, while here, you can walk in and order immediatley. I like the "tajadas con queso" or the "maduro con queso" as side dishes. Sometimes the grilled meat (carne asada) is dry, while other times is perfect. I would give the food a 4.5 but giving a 5 because the ladies up front were very patient explaining the dishes, specially on a...
Read moreFirst time and likely last time. I've had dozens of fritanga spots throughout dade. I've drove by several times times and decided to try it out. Unfortunately, it's the weakest fritanga I ever had. Food: 2 small skimpy pieces of Carne asada. Super overcooked and no flavor. Gallo pinto was cold, less than room temperature, and also very bland and dry. The salad was the only thing edible. I ate half the plate because I was straving. The inside seems clean, but the exterior looks really abandoned and ruined down. I gave it a shot because sometimes they worst spots are great. Not here. Hope they improve for their...
Read moreI used to love this place when it was called Monimbo. I guess there’s new management in place and the carne asada I had today was not good. The are lots of other choices in the menu but carne asada is my favorite. I was very disappointed as it tasted like old meat that was reheated. The gallo pinto was good but the plantain chips were cold and grease showed through the brown paper bag it was served in so it is not fresh either. service was fast and friendly. Not a great experience for sure and I probably won’t try this place again in a...
