I stayed at Garden Hotel Miami Airport for one night because I missed a flight and had to book at the last minute.
The room, though as expected for the price, was relatively small, and the bathroom even smaller, accommodating only one person at a time. This size limitation was inconvenient and different from what I expected.
After my stay, I realized I had left my AirPods behind. I called the hotel within an hour of leaving. The first person I spoke with was not as helpful as I would have liked. I explained that I thought I left them on the counter during checkout; he told me he couldn't help me and did not provide any solution, which was quite disappointing. Since I was on standby, I couldn't return to the hotel. The second person I spoke with was more helpful and promised that housekeeping would check. However, I did not receive a callback and had to contact the hotel the next day. I was informed that my AirPods were found, and I needed to send a prepaid label to get them back.
I sent the label but waited to follow up. After three weeks, I called again and was told I would receive a callback. When contacted, the front desk associate informed me that my AirPods were sent. Later, another staff member said my shipping label didn't match the one used. Eventually, they admitted my AirPods were at the bottom of the lost and found box. They sent them out, but what I received were not my AirPods; they were imitation AirPods. This delay in resolving the issue was quite frustrating and different from what I would have expected. When I called to report this, I was told these were the only headphones found, despite an earlier statement that AirPods were sent to someone else. I provided a screenshot of the last location of my AirPods and emailed it to the email address given. After a week of waiting for a response, I called again and was told the assistant manager would call me back, which never happened. Later, an email from the assistant general manager claimed that the AirPods were outside their building, as the last location was slightly different. This lack of consistent and transparent communication only increased my frustration and disappointment. Someone switched out the AirPods before placing them in the lost and found. Over two months, the management should have prioritized resolving my issue, which they did not, resulting in subpar customer care.
My stay could have been significantly improved if my lost item had been handled more effectively. The need for better customer service and more transparent communication is evident from my experience. I believe that these improvements are crucial for enhancing the overall guest experience...
Read moreI give honest reviews of my experience and my opinion of the facility. I will tell you now AVOID this place. Steer clear of all the headaches. Upon our arrival into Miami for our cruise my girlfriend asked me to call the hotel to arrange the shuttle they provide. Mind you that’s the only reason we chose this place was a free shuttle from the airport. Well I call at the baggage claim when we land and I’m greeted by a gentlemen who doesn’t speak English very well at all. I have no idea what he’s saying to me and hand the phone off to my gf. She then is told that the shuttle stops running at 10pm and we would have to try to find their driver who was somewhere at the airport and is in a white ford van. That’s the only help this person was willing to or able to provide. Long story short for this part anyways we call an uber. Our driver gets us to the hotel and helps us unload our luggage which is pretty heavy. That will come into play later. We get in the hotel lobby and best I can say is this isn’t really a hotel, more or less it’s a storage facility with slightly bigger rooms and faulty air conditioning equipment. We check in and they tell us they have no elevator. We get a room on the second floor and have to carry our stuff up the steps. The guy at the desk of course would have helped us for a small fee. All in all this place is a let down of epic proportions. I’m extremely unsatisfied and I haven’t even gone down stairs for the breakfast yet. I can’t wait to see what they threw together to pass as a breakfast bar. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place. Rooms are 100 degrees when you walk in with ac equipment that doesn’t work properly and after about an hour it will cut off in the middle of the night. So either prepare for an hour of sleep at a time or just lay there in muggy hot rooms with no relief from the temperature. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed out. Not to mention the entire place is supposed to have a beautiful garden nestled in the middle of it like an LA apartment complex. Well it’s all kinds of pretty until you see the little trash pile the have right in the middle of what looks like a pool that used to be there.
Wyndham should be disappointed with their involvement in this trash pile excuse of a rundown crack motel. I’ll never be here again and for that I’m thankful. Spend extra and stay some where nicer. The breakfast is awful and honestly the only good thing about this...
Read moreSummary at the start: You get what you pay for at this hotel. It’s a 2-Star, not a 5-Star. I’m leaving a 3 rating because the CONS outweigh the PROS, in my opinion. I’m not leaving a negative (2 or below) because some of the cons aren’t avoidable (see below). It wasn’t a “terrible” experience, but not the greatest either.
With that in mind…
PROS • Rooms clean. As a matter of fact, the air in the entire hotel smells like cleaner/disinfectant. But the rooms are very clean and room service was great. • Friendly staff. Every staff worker was friendly and willing to help (even if they knew very little English). • Nice walk in shower. Very hot water. • Beautiful courtyard!
CONS • Rooms very small. If you’re a large bodied person, you might find it restrictive. Especially the bathroom (see picture). • No refrigerator. Every hotel we’ve ever stayed in had one. We brought perishables and had to throw them away in the morning. • Noisy halls in the middle of the night. The hallway is very narrow (two adults can’t really walk side by side; see picture). I was awakened both night by loud talking or phone volume media outside the door. • Frequent smell of marijuana and cigarettes. Note: there is a no-smoking sign in each room, but it’s apparently ignored. • Narrow, restrictive parking lot. Saw cars backing all the way to the road because of no room to turn around. • Air conditioning doesn’t really cool the room enough. We were warm all night even though the AC was on all night. • Very squeaky door to the point of annoyance. Need serious WD-40! • Limited breakfast options. • Airplane noise. The hotel is next to the airport. It didn’t really bother us, but some might...
