Disclaimer: The bar for this review is set a little low as it appears that most of the hotels that you go to today have an industry standard of a carpet that is about every shade of vomit with the most popular shade being" upchuck elegance, " pictures featuring artwork that looks like something someone fished out of the shower drain, rattling vents , shower controls you cant figure out, USB power ports that don't work, and a hockey team that roams the halls at 3 a.m. So where does this place rank? THE GOOD: The staff is friendly, helpful, and courteous . Big points for that in a day and age when lots of people in the service industry appear rude and dehumanizing these days. Also, good is the free breakfast ( it would be nice if they mixed it up a bit for those folks staying for than a day). The hotel and rooms are clean. I won't address the comfort of couches or beds as that is subjective. The location is good as it is walking distance from Winco, Costco, and a slew of restaurants . THE BAD - The curtains don't quite close all the way. There is a gap in the middle. Is this so I can watch for people trying to steal the catalytic converter out of my car? ( I mean, it is Moreno Valley). The walls are very thin. While i didn't have a hockey team in the hall, my neighbor had the TV on loud enough to be picked up by shuttle traffic. The other room equally loud. I was able to ascertain that his name was Marvin since it was yelled a lot!. Free Wi-Fi only if you are a member. I was, but there were so many steps and passwords , it was too much of a hassle, especially for an unsecured network. The view? Every room has a pristine view of the parking lot. The back of the hotel has a great view of Winco and some random person wandering around the parking lot every night to help you feel safe. Lastly, you can't use most of your lights or USB power ports without putting your key card in a designated slot. That fact is not communicated very well. Apparrently, there is a state law that mandates this practice. THE UGLY: The prices are bad enough considering this is Moreno Valley and Not Rome. But it's absolutely appalling when they add all kinds of fees, and then tax said fees. If that's not enough, there are all kinds of tourism taxes. Again, tourism? It's Moreno Valley. What activities or historical sites do they offer to be a tourist town? When I talk to the residents here, they have issues with everything from plants being dug up and stolen from their yard to Christmas lights being stolen right off of the houses. Not very touristy. But I will say that at least I felt safe inside the hotel and protected from the elements...
Read moreI drove in from out of state, I did a web search and found that this FarfieldInn was brand new construction so I made my reservation. I even became a Marriot rewards member because of it. When I arrived, I tried to use the mobile check-in but there was an issue with the app, not a big deal, well so I thought! Apparently there the woman ahead of me who was a Costo employee ( i know this because it was stiched into her work blouse) was beyond annoyed the app wasn’t working because we exchanged a few words about it and she grabbed the call phone to get in, AGAIN she was MAD! I personally found this comforting and saw it as a security for guest and staff. However, this woman was fit to be tied and then began to let out her all of her bottled up frustrations on the young lady at the front desk. This irate person’s energy was just infuriating because no matter how hard the young lady who I believe is named Ashley tried to be accommodating, to every request only to be meet with anger and hostility. When this woman finally got what she wanted she stormed off, now it was my turn to check-in. Immediately I said to Ashley HI, just so you know I’m in a good mood! Instantly Ashley realized I was not a grouch! We both smiled and Ashley sweetly welcomed me to the hotel and quickly had me checked in and I was off to my room. The room was great clean, fresh, modern, and best of all the bed was soft! That is a huge plus for me, I took a nap and was woken up by some the guest next door. Turns out the walls are not so sound proof but it was fine I was heading out to dinner. Now for the down side when I left my room the hallway was ingulfed with the thick pungent aroma of marijuana. When I got to the lobby I went to the front desk and spoke to Ashley about how the floor reeked of marijuana, she thanked me and said she would address the issue. When I got back from dinner and got to my floor the air had improved. The next morning, I went down stairs and collected my sack breakfast which I was really impressed with and it was very filling. I had my cup of coffee and I was off! All in all, the customer service was Steller, the continental breakfast satisfying, and I slept well despite the thin walls. My stay was short and, in this case, it...
