I wanted to share an experience my family and I had at your Mount Dora ice cream shop today. After having dinner, my husband, our toddlers, and I stopped by to enjoy some ice cream. Unfortunately, after taking just one spoonful, I noticed a long hair between the spoon and the scoop.
I approached Rachel, who was serving us, to politely inform her of the issue. I understand that there were other customers around, so I wanted to address the matter discreetly. However, when I explained the situation, Rachel mentioned that a refund wasnât possible, citing store policy. I asked if we could at least receive a gift card, as finding hair in food is quite off-putting, but she declined and referred to the storeâs "no refund" policy again.
I then requested to speak with the manager, and Rachel informed me that I would need to call the store for that. After asking for the managerâs name, she eventually provided the name "Aquatar" but was reluctant to do so. We left feeling quite disappointed with the customer service we received.
To make matters worse, a few minutes later, my husband found another hair in his ice cream. This experience has left us very concerned about the hygiene and customer service at the shop.
After leaving initially, my husband returned to the shop to notify Rachel that we had unfortunately found more hair in the ice cream. Rachel asked him to wait while she contacted the manager, which he did.
When she returned, she provided a receipt showing that a refund had been issued, which we appreciated. However, what followed was quite unexpected and disappointing. Rachel began to lecture my husband on how he should address her, and during this exchange, four other individuals (who appeared to be her friends) began shouting foul language at my husband, telling him to leave the store.
We were shocked by this unprofessional behavior, as we had approached the situation with respect and patience. This experience has left us not only concerned about hygiene but also deeply upset by the way the...
Read moreNice shop, conveniently located while visiting the downtown area with our adult son & his family. The grandkids definitely enjoyed the experience. The store does have a decent selection for its size, as well as a couple tables with chairs & shade out front for the kids to explore their treasures for a few minutes before we continued on.
We would visit again. I only rated the store as 4 instead of 5 because of a couple disappointments we encountered. We asked a store clerk about some items we were specifically looking for after viewing the photos of the "specials" on their website and learned that those items were not actually offered in the store, and had not been for quite some time. We also could not dispense reasonable amounts of jelly beans to make the specific flavor combinations or the mixes we wanted because, the instant we opened the dispenser, a huge amount of beans dumped/poured out so fast the quart-sized bag was 1/2 full of that 1 flavor before we could even get the dispenser closed, and you're not allowed to put any beans back once they are dispensed. We ended up having to pretty much skip the jelly bean idea that had been a particular draw for us. I would offer that a smaller dispenser opening or changing the jelly beans to a bin & scoop system as they use for all of their other candies priced by the pound would be more...
Read moreUnfortunate experience today with my son today at this establishment. He chose some items, I was well aware that the prices here were high as I have purchased here several times in the past. When we went to the register I asked to please let me know the cost. I asked this because I knew it was by weight. I also handed the clerk my card at the same time. Next thing I know she hands me my card and mumbles some price I can't understand. I said how much and she said 51.85, I politely said no thank you. She then says well I already charged the card so she said she would need to do a refund and put some back. I said that would be fine. She was at the machine for a long time then came back and said the manager said she could not do that. One she never told me the price as I asked before charging me, she then said she could refund it back and we could adjust the amount being purchased. That also did not happen. As a result ai had to call my bank while on the premise and dispute this unlawful charge before telling me a price and my accepting the price. I had planned to make a more reasonable purchase. Instead, I had to dispute a charge, left with no product or merchandise and son upset. I have frequented and spent hundreds of dollars here. No more, the manager lost a customer. My story will be heard as a business should do what is right, and...
