Jk Thai & Sushi — Restaurant in Mount Dora

The service at this place was very good. I have no complaints about the service. I had the chicken soup which was very good. My husband had the tum yum soup and he said it was good. Not the best he ever had but good. The panang curry dish was watered down and had no flavor except for spicy heat. The curry was so thin and flavorless that it is obvious that they are trying to stretch their food. I asked for clear noodles instead of rice and they charged me an extra $3.00 and my husband and extra $2.50 because he wanted brown rice instead of Jasmine rice. They charged us just like we got an extra side instead of charging us the difference between a side of white rice and the noodles and brown rice. They over charge on their food. I would not visit this place again because the entrées are below average in taste and they over charge. Also they didn't have the Thai Iced Coffee or the snapper fish entrée as that was my first choice. This place was disappointing with regards to the food. I went to JK Thai and Sushi in Mount Dora today for the very first time and last time! I’m giving it 2 stars and let me explain why. My friend and I were very hungry so we started with an order of summer rolls and an order of volcano sushi. That was delicious. We did no wrong there, flavorful and it was simply delish! But as a main dish I ordered a combo of Panang Curry and my friend order Pad Thai. Oh lord!! The Panang Curry was not creamy, not tasty not anything. It was disgusting!! It was like they took the curry and added an immense amount of water in it and added some leaves with red chili. I ate the only 2 shrimps it had and a bit of the rice. It was not eatable!! My friend’s Pad Thai was mushy and with no flavor!! I was really astonished when our server did nothing once she saw my plate practically untouched, she just was in a hurry to give us the bill and see us go. JK Thai & Sushi has a beautiful outdoor area, decorated with lights and umbrellas for an enjoyable atmosphere. Inside is a sushi bar on one side and a general restaurant area on the other.

Our food came out pretty quick after ordering. The serving size was large and the meal was enjoyable. Our waitress asked if we liked our food spicy or not to ensure the flavor wouldn't be overwhelming.

Cons: The restaurant is a bit pricey, but it is in downtown Mt. Dora so I guess that's to be expected. Again, at least the serving size did not disappoint us.

Our waitress sat us and took our order and never checked on us again until the bill was ready, no drink refills or anything.

Observations: The female restroom is tiny. I can't imagine anyone with limited or restricted physical abilities being able to navigate/use that space easily.
