Do yourself a favor, drive 7 minutes down the road and stay at the LaQuinta in Mount Laurel Township. It's a much nicer hotel, much nicer staff and less than a year old. And the rooms are beautiful.
My husband and I stayed at this LaQuinta in July 2024. The room itself was clean, but not the nicest LaQuinta we've stayed in. When you walk into the hotel, you notice at the front desk that every entry way, hall way, lobby, etc has a camera, and they're watching every move.
My husband and I are Wyndham Rewards members and we travel a lot with our dog and cat. We've stayed at many Laquintas. The breakfast at this LaQuinta is the most limited out of all the LaQuintas we've stayed. There was moldy oranges and over ripe bananas offered as a breakfast option. I never wrote a review on this page at that time because I chose to email Wyndham directly about the moldy fruit and over ripe bananas. I sent pictures of the fruit, and did receive a response that they would notify their staff to do better.
The reason I am writing this review now is because of the experience I received today for a reservation I made. While it wasn't a favorite LaQuinta of ours, the room itself was clean, and I made the reservation while we were on the road. Prior to booking, I couldn't remember if this location allowed cats, and I verified the hotel policy info on the Wyndham Rewards app. Yup, on the listing it noted that both dogs and cats were allowed.
After driving 6 hours from NH, my husband and I were tired, and looking forward to checking in. I informed the clerk that we did have pets, a dog and a cat. The manager overheard the conversation and stepped in, informed me that cats aren't allowed. Even after showing him the hotel policy for this hotel, he still wouldn't honor the reservation. He told us he would cancel with no penalty.
I then asked if he could because we've been on the road for 6 hours, and it's not my fault their website wasn't updated. He wouldn't budge.
I then said that we've been Wyndham Rewards members for several years, and we only stay at LaQuinta. We've never had any issues with our stays, and I always clean up after our pets. I also told him that we stayed there in July. Obviously no issues happened then, and we weren't charged any extra cleaning fees.
His response "I can see cat hair on your shirt". My response was "What difference does it make if it's cat hair or dog hair". Dog hair gets on furniture too.
He did give us the name of the LaQuinta in Mount Laurel Township, and I'm glad he did. It's so much nicer, and even has a walk in shower. And there's more to do in the area.
I'm happy to post the pictures of the moldy fruit from our stay in July, I still have them, as well as the email communication with Wyndham about this issue.
Anyways, thanks for the suggestion for the other LaQuinta. We're having a much...
Read moreWe stayed here a few times pre-covid but this year we came back and it was like the rooms were gutted and someone forgot to put the rest of the furniture back. We were given a king, which is the same thing we stayed in the night before about 500 miles away, which had 2 side tables. The room we were given had one side table and again, like a huge void where furniture of some sort used to be. We each have devices to put on a side table that need to charge and function as alarm clocks, etc. so this wasn't going to work for us. We might have made it work if the air freshener wasn't so prominent, we could taste it. I went downstairs and this manager immediately went on the defensive. Not at all trying to see what he could do to remedy the situation. Just nasty and defensive, telling me all hotels have one side table now. What? Really? We were given a queen to look at, which we did and made it work by pulling this other table to the bed. It had some water damage in the ceiling and walls which someone just painted over, the bathroom looked like a horrible diy job, the laminate which is now in all the rooms (I get it, pandemic, you can mop and bleach it) it just added to the weirdness of lack of furniture. This particular room had a proper desk chair but some sort of folding table that looked like it came from the Home Depot. I went down and told him I'd take it, he said it was $15 extra. I told him I'd pay it but probably won't stay here again; sort of giving him the opportunity to try to remedy the situation. He got even nastier and mentioned we had checked in 40 minutes ago and why had it taken so long to come down to ask to switch rooms. I told him my wife and I were discussing if we wanted to go down and ask. He regarded that as "abnormal". I asked what he was trying to imply, to which I received no answer. We went to the king, removed out stuff. Before we could get our stuff out, about 5 minutes, he had sent someone up to "check the room". No idea what that was all about but it was thanksgiving eve and there were no rooms to be found so I didn’t wand to escalate the situation but I should mention, though there were no other rooms available nearby, the parking lot for this place was empty. Maybe we will stay here again when it becomes a Marriott or something. I can’t see it existing in its current state...
Read moreI stayed at this specific La Quinta for three nights recently. I debated between giving this inn two stars or three stars, but chose to give this place two stars due to the negatives far outweighing the positives. I will start with the good.
Good: 1.) spacious rooms; 2.) rooms are not carpeted but are hardwood/vinyl floors instead; 3.) guest laundry is cheap at $2 per wash/dry cycle, but the machine only takes coins
Bad: 1.) When I checked in, the receptionist asked for my ID and CC. I gave her both, but she made a photocopy of my ID without informing me. If you are going to make a copy of a guest’s ID, at least let them know beforehand. Perhaps, a written notice on the counter would help or verbally tell the guest upon checkin. Could this practice mean that in the past, people who were being hunted by law enforcement were staying at this specific inn? I stayed at some other inns in the area, but they only looked at my ID without making photocopies. 2.) The room had funky odors that smelled like greasy takeout from a previous guest or something. Maybe this inn should use air fresheners. Even though I brought food, they were cold leftovers from dinner we ate out at to store in the fridge. We never ate hot food in the room. 3.) The shower curtain was too short and barely touched the top of the bathtub. It did not serve its purpose of preventing water from splashing out of the tub. Maybe investing in longer shower curtains that reach the floor of the tub would prevent puddles on the bathroom floor. 4.) Dirty and dusty appliances. I had to wipe down literally everything because of the dust. Some appliances and counter tops looked like they even had paint splatters. Not that I would use the coffee brewer in the room, but even that had paint splatters. 5.) The room phone did not work. 6.) I was aware that checkout time was at 11 AM, but the other inns I stayed at allowed a grace period of 1 hour without extra charge. If the checkout time is going to be strictly enforced, at least post a written notice detailing any charges so that the guest can plan ahead to leave by standard checkout time or pay and stay a little longer. I was charged $10, which was not too bad, but it would have been helpful to know why I was being charged. I had to call the inn...
