My left leg was immobilized for approximately 1 month for a fractured right knee cap (patella). When the full leg brace was removed, I was referred to Breakthru Physical Therapy in Mt.Laurel, NJ for aquatic therapy. The facility manager is Dr. Jonathan Eaton, who has a doctorate in physical therapy. His presence is one of the many positive aspects of this program. He performed a complete assessment of my muscle strength and range of motion of my right knee and leg at my first visit. He then formulated an individualized plan of care which he supervises. This is NOT group therapy. My treatments are for an hour 3 days a week in a heated therapy pool that contains a treadmill, water jets and steps of different heights and accommodates only one person. Dr. Eaton makes sure he assesses my progress at every session and accelerates my program accordingly. Because of his doctorate degree he can reassess and formulate each person's plan of care. You are never left alone or given a piece of paper to follow at the center. There is always someone watching you and following Dr. Eaton's plan. The staff is professional, yet friendly and supportive and has my full confidence. I have made remarkable progress.
The facility also features an additional larger aquatic therapy pool that has 2 treadmills that can accommodate 2 people, but each person has an individualized plan. The patients who are receiving land therapy all look really engaged and happy with the staff but I have no personal experience with the land therapy program. I am familiar with some other aquatic therapy programs. For the most part they have a heated pool and offer group therapy...kind of one plan fits all! I consider myself so fortunate that I was referred to Breakthru and would recommend it highly to anyone! It is off the "beaten track" but easy to find once you google the route that best fits your geographic location. They also have a small, but adequate female locker room...
Read moreI recently completed my physical therapy program with Johnathan at Breakthru Physical Therapy and Fitness at their location in Marlton. It is a "hidden gem" located in an industrial park just off of Route 73 and Greentree Road. I had visited other Breakthru locations in the past, but ended up in Marlton due to this location is where their aquatic program is located. My Rheumatologist wanted me to start a "water" exercise program with instruction due to arthritis in my knees. They have 2 pools dedicated to the water physical therapy program. In these pools, there are treadmills with resistance and a bike. As I progressed, weights and other resistance equipment were added. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed and looked forward to my appointments. At no time, did my program cause me pain. From my very first consultation with Johnathan, I felt very comfortable with him and that he was really listening to me. Unfortunately, I have suffered with arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic pain for many years and have been to several different Physical Therapists with different companies. Sadly, this make me somewhat of any expert on the subject. I never felt that Johnathan ever disregarded what I said or how I was feeling. He was not afraid to push when needed and reign me in when I was having a bad day. It is hard to treat and be treated for "overall" pain, however, if I was having pain other than my lower body, Johnathan was more that willing to work on that area to give me relief. This was a welcome surprise. When Johnathan was not available, I worked with Rebecca and was equally as happy and comfortable with her. I thoroughly enjoyed working with all the employees from the front desk to the assistants. I felt as though I made new friendships...
Read moreWendy Smith I cannot begin to express how great it is here. I had previously gone to several places over the years for therapy and I have benefited more in one week here than I did in years of other therapy places. From the moment I contacted the office I was greeted with the most pleasant people. When my doctor suggested I go to Breakthru Physical Therapy I was skeptical; as I had not had any previous positive experiences in my attempt to benefit from therapy. I’m in my 60s and I refuse to stop moving, but I thought “here I go again” and why? I have MS and bad arthritis so I thought I’ll go but I’m probably not staying. Well, I must tell everyone who reads this I am extremely excited to get my therapy here!!! I’m not only glad that my doctor suggested here but I have, as I said, benefited more in one week here than I have ever at any place in the wasted years I spent trying to find help. Besides the knowledge everyone has here, they are kind, friendly, caring and DEDICATED to see that ALL of their clients benefit from the care they receive here! No matter what you need they can help you here! I am very confident in their therapy and they also are concerned about YOU! It is much more than a job to everyone here!! I can’t wait to show my doctors the progress I’m making and look forward to getting stronger every day to keep my independence! I need to add that:
I hate to single out anyone as everyone is fantastic in the Mt Laurel center where I go for therapy; but I MUST say that my therapist Emily has restored my faith in the fact that there truly are therapists who truly love their ability to help others...thank you Emily I look forward to each day building my strength and confidence...
