On The Border Mexican Grill & Cantina — Restaurant in Mount Laurel Township

The purpose of our visit to the restaurant was to arrange for catering of a baby shower for our son, daughter-in-law and soon to be grand child. We were met by the manager, Nestor, who was very pleasant, knowledgeable of the process and helpful. When we asked for a clarification of some of the ingredients he quickly provided us with a sample for us to taste. A waiter then appeared with water for us without us having to ask. Nestor stepped us through the process of ordering the catering and made suggestions that we found very helpful. He answered many of our questions before we had the chance to ask them. On the day of our event the delivery team of two people arrived exactly on time and had everything they needed to set up a very attractive and functional display of the food we ordered and the other included items. They provided everything that was needed right down to the water for the Sterno heating trays. The price for the quality and quantity of or order was extremely reasonable. As far as the food itself was concerned, it was excellent flavor, quality and quantity. We were concerned that some of our guests would not appreciate Mexican food so we backed it up with other choices for them to have an alternative but we found that our fears were unfounded. The Mexican food was a bigger hit than the alternative. It was a bigger hit because it was GOOD! It was not too spicy for the timid eater but the flavor was terrific. We are still getting compliments on the food and the party as a whole and it has been a couple weeks. I would not hesitate to eat at the restaurant nor would I have any fears of ordering catering from On the Border. In fact, I'm trying to work a visit into our dining out schedule right now. Can't wait!

On a Thursday night at 5:40 hostess wasn't at the door, finally comes over and says really busy tonight, a Hightower ok? Meanwhile dozens of tables were open. Waited almost 15 minutes once sat, hostess walks by and asked if anyone came over, when we responded no she said "Jesus Christ".2 minutes later someone came just to put our drink order in. Our server didn't appear to be very attentative. My son 1/2 way through his strawberry lemonade notices something on the bottom of his cup, It was a piece of metal, looked like a screw. sat there waiting for our server, no where to be found, finally the hostess walks by, I ask for the manager, who goes to the wrong table, annoyed I say he didn't ask to speak with you I did, I wanted to bring to your attention the screw in my 11 y/o's drink. He grabs the drink out of my hand, says how did that get in there, walked away and that was it. A few minutes later my family and me stood up, and walked out, I said to the hostess as I walked by if the manager ever comes back let him know that we don't feel comfortable eating or drinking here and are leaving. My mistake was not taking a photo of the screw in the drink, or the manager walking away with it, likes it is a normal occurence. Horrible feeling thinking those that prepare your food and serve it to you don't take the time, care or pride in making sure their patrons are save and healthy. Thank God my son was using a straw. The question still begs to be answered, where did the screw come from, and how did it get there? What type of care is being had where the cups and dishes are stored? When was the ice machine last cleaned or maintained? Has the strawberry lemonade dispenser been cleaned, recent maintenence, or is it falling apart? Needless to say we will no longer patronize On The Border...

I never write reviews but would be ZERO stars if I had the option! I drove 50 minutes for nothing! Arrived at the restaurant and was told it would be a 30-40 minute wait which was fine, when finally seated our server Victoria was absolutely AWFUL (only know her name bc of hostess) she did not greet us just slammed the chips and salsa on the table and asked what we wanted to drink, we ordered 2 waters and 2 drinks from the bar..she came back with waters proceeded to slam them on the table and asked if we were ready to order..we ordered an appetizer and 2 meals...still waiting on bar drinks. The appetizer came out, we had no plates to eat them on, the appetizer was still too hot to eat and next thing I knew my food was being placed on the table....STILL NO BAR DRINKS!! I watched as Victoria went in and out of the of the kitchen while staring at my table or she checked on other tables..very poorly as well I noticed. She never checked to see if our food was good I couldn’t even ask her about our drinks so I asked another server. He promptly brought our drinks as Victoria watched! The only time she came back to the table was to ask if we needed boxes & she dropped the check at the same time..never offered dessert or asked if we needed anything else just simply rushed us out! I have never in my life tipped so poorly she’s honestly lucky we even tipped her at all!! I work in the industry and someone like that should not be in this industry that is NOT how you serve tables!! The establishment should be embarrassed by her poor customer service skills, I don’t care how bad her day was or whatever her reason was that type of service is completely uncalled for! If you get Victoria as your server I suggest leaving or asking for a new one! Will never be back to this...
