The only reason I’m giving this location one star is because I can’t give it zero. Location is perfect. The view is great. The workers were extremely rude and unprofessional after we were given a room full of mold, soaked carpet, & cockroaches. We were told we could be moved to another room & “see if that fit our liking better” or find somewhere else to stay. We just drove nine hours with four kids & there was next to nothing available. The second room we were given was “the only thing left for the week” & didn’t have enough beds, & they had no cots. We bought an air mattress & were told we could get sheets, pillows, etc. that we needed for the air mattress. When I asked at the front desk, it was obvious they didn’t want to acknowledge us even being there. I asked for the bedding and worker asked, “do you not have enough, or what?” I explained the room change & air mattress situation. She then went to a bin of sheets outside the lobby and rolled up a few sheets & handed them to me with an attitude. No pillows. So I then asked for a couple pillows and was told she had none. This same type of attitude continued throughout the week. The place is dog friendly, but then there were dogs using the bathroom & leaving actual fecal matter down the carpeted stairs, in the halls between rooms, including a pile right outside our door that was there for at least three days before someone attempted to wipe it up. We were having to make sure our kids weren’t stepping in it before entering our room. Our balcony door did not close completely. It was partially opened when we got there, & no amount of slamming would close it completely, there was also no lock. As I mentioned before, we have four kids so that was obviously a safety concern. Smoke detectors were off the walls in the dresser drawers. They didn’t have any batteries in them, so we just left them in the drawers. The elevators didn’t work properly the first half of our stay, so we had to rush our kids in and hope to make it in before they closed. Putting a hand out to hold them open just did not work. I asked to speak with a manager about some sort of refund before leaving because of the state of the first room, being roomed in another room too small, & the overall stay. I spoke with Randy (manager) on the second day of our stay. He tried to explain away the mold & asked if we would be okay in the room we were in because “all the others like we initially booked all needed work”. We agreed to stay in that room for a partial refund. He did have the workers give us a few pillows that day. After waiting until Thursday for a refund, I went back to speak with him and he stated he’d have to wait for us to check out to issue any refund. We would be leaving before he was in the day we were leaving, but he would issue the refund. We left Friday, no refund. I called the next day, Saturday to let them know I hadn’t received anything & if this was going to continue, I would have to go above them for the refund. The worker who answered laughed at me, said I would be nice to them or they wouldn’t issue ANY refund whether it was my money or not. After some back & forth, I was told to call later that afternoon once she spoke with Randy & she would do what HE told her to do. Luckily she had a better attitude when I called back, & my refund was given. We had two rooms booked because we traveled with family. Our total was over $1,300 & our refund was $60, equivalent to “two resort fees”. As far as the cockroaches go, we see them anywhere we stay in Myrtle just because of the environment. I wasn’t so much worried about those as I was the rest. Being that the place was dog friendly, the room door was chewed pretty heavily so it was more open on bottom which made it easier for them to get into our room specifically. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. I definitely will not be staying here again. I caution anyone reading reviews to take this one seriously. It won’t let me post the video I took of the room, but I’ll share that with the health department.

Please consider NOT staying here. Terrible experience starting from the very beginning with the booking process. On August 4th at around 7 PM I called to confirm our reservation and inquire about extending our stay. The person who answered the phone was absolutely a nightmare to deal with She sounded either half asleep or high kept asking concerningly obvious questions and was so reluctant to help. When I asked if the reservation was under my name or my partner’s she responded in a very impatient and condescending way saying “it was the name you gave me” even after I gave both possible names. Before I could ask more questions she abruptly hung up. When I called back to request the extension I believe it was the same person. She snapped at me aggressively over something as simple as providing the first and last name separately. I stayed calm and respectful but her tone was rude and uncalled for. When I asked if I could pay for the extra night over the phone or upon arrival she sighed and acted like it was an annoying question then hung up again before I could ask about a confirmation. I do not know her name but both times the voice and tone were the same. These calls left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome which is especially upsetting since this trip was something we had been looking forward to. I emailed the management to address this but received no response. When we arrived the reluctance to be helpful continued as if it was a burden for the staff. Our room was absolutely terrible a confusing maze layout with a boarded-up wall in the “toilet room” that had no light at all. The bathroom was huge but extremely slippery and there were no towels initially. When I requested six towels which is a normal amount for me when staying more than two nights because I have a skin condition that requires me to use a new towel every time I shower hotels have never had an issue with this before the staff member immediately said no in a dismissive tone making me feel irrational. I didn’t mention my condition after that because it felt embarrassing to do so. Unfortunately sharing towels caused me flare-ups that I have to deal with right now. I hate confrontation and this made me so angry. Only after realizing we were having a bad experience did the staff member’s demeanor improve which was nice but disappointing that it took negativity to get kindness. We only received four towels so we had to share to manage the slippery floor. The toilet door was a broken slab of wood without hinges and my partner got several splinters from it. There was an ugly badly painted slab of wood in a random closet that was also a hazard. The bathroom door was difficult to close and when it finally did we noticed a huge chunk was missing from the bottom likely from previous guests trying to gain privacy. The bathroom ceiling had mold as did the kitchen ceiling. The fridge and microwave were very dirty. There were roaches in the room I understand it’s South Carolina but we were on the roof floor so it was shocking to see so many there. The gap between the bed and headboard was huge and our pillows kept falling back there onto an unclean carpet that also had bugs. There was a hole in the wall also with bugs. The whole floor was uneven. Half the light switches didn’t work. The kitchen door was permanently open. The shower leaked water no matter how we positioned the curtain and there was a heavy cigarette smell whenever we used it this was supposed to be a nonsmoking room which I requested due to allergies. The AC worked well thankfully but the fan was missing a blade and didn’t work. The TV only worked sporadically if we kept it on the same channel. The sheets had faint black stains. The elevators were gross inside and out leaking water from the ceiling dirty and with outside doors that looked like they had never been cleaned. I’m sure they have nice rooms but this was nothing like the photos online. I would never stay here again.

We stayed here 2 years ago and had no issues at all. Fast forward 7/25/25 and a 4 hour drive: couldn't pay me a million dollars to stay here again. We stayed in rooms 145 and 244. Let me explain the issues we encountered: Room 145: walking into the room, it smelled like mold and as if someone just took a massive 💩 and the smell never went away. Roaches crawling on the walls and stove. Walls had holes and looked like someone was literally punched it. Oh, and the water wouldn't get hot either, barely lukewarm. Room 244: checked in around 10:30-11 pm and the entire room wasn't turned over. There was pee and used towels still in the bathroom. Went to the office and the front desk lady said word for word: "You have to find somewhere else to stay since housekeeping wouldn't be there until after 9 am the next day when they get there and we can refund the night". Maybe if it was said differently, I wouldn't be so upset but oh well. The next day I call around 11 am and I believe I spoke to the owner/manager and explained the previous night...she sounded just as shocked as I was the night before and said she will figure out who worked that night and she'd handle it. I believed her because she sounded old school like she does not play! Bless her because she was the only person working in the office that did NOT give me an attitude. Around 12:30-1 pm we finally went up to put our bags in the room and it was alright. Seems like they sweep the carpet instead of vacuuming but whatever 🤷🏻‍♀️ the TV did not work and couldn't connect to the WiFi. The microwave did not have a plate to warm food on so there was that AND it was set on top of the small refrigerator and was not stable at all. The pool area was full of trash and everything else you could think of, so proceed with caution if you aren't wearing any shoes. My toddler woke up moments before a poisonous caterpillar began crawling on the pillow next to where she was sleeping. As we were leaving, the staff turning the rooms over were more focused on flirting with each other, trying to get into each other's pants (body language told me everything I needed to know) and leaning on the guard rails as if no one else had to walk by. The cart was in the middle of the walkway, old sheets from other rooms scattered in piles all over the place.. I'm walking out with my toddler, they pay no attention or even attempt to move the carts to the wall so we could have space to get to the elevator so I moved it myself and all they did was stare. Like hell I'm going to let my child squeeze next to the railing just to get by with our bags! I do not recommend this place, wouldn't even let stray cats sleep here. Pay the extra money for another place that won't make you feel unwelcomed and that actually cares about their customers. UPDATE: 7/28/25 - just got the notification on booking.com that Bar Harbor said we never arrived and canceled our reservation? 🤔 We'll see where this goes.

It won’t let me post the video I took of the room, but I’ll share that with the...

I would never...

RUNNNNNN!!!!! Planned to stay for my birthday weekend. Drove 8 hours to be told my reservation was cancelled an hour before I arrive even though confirmation said everything was fine. The 2 passive aggressive cabbage patch looking linebackers at the front desk swore up and down they called me however I hadn’t received any calls or voicemails. Apparently it says it’s going to charge you a deposit on the website and you’re good to go but they never actually charge your card. Does the notes on the site say this anywhere? No! I’m a graphic/web designer and they sure could use my services!!!! Upon telling me this the maintenance man (I assume) laughed in my face??? I thought that was the most cruel and unprofessional behavior ever. Mind you I walked in with a smile on my face being kind and was greeted by nasty attitudes in return!!!

So I went out to my car and booked again as I did before. After waiting 30 minutes for it to “show up” in their system - I think she was just being nasty and making me wait… Mind you I visit often and have stayed here plenty of times. The place is a little on the rough side but I never seen anything bad enough to make me never wanna come back. However there have been several times where the tv in my room didn’t work so I asked the ladies if they could make sure I was placed in a room where everything is clean and everything works. and I always stay in the 2nd tower because the elevator in the 1st tower is a lawsuit waiting to happen!!! They got me in the 2nd tower but in regards to the appliances and cleanliness She responds “ma'am I just work at the front desk, I don’t know what the conditions are like up there”… 😳😳😳😳 I was speechless but okay whatever. I’m tired and I just wanna get in my room and get settled in so I can start my birthday vacation….

I get to the room…. Instantly slapped in the face by the smell of dry rot and mold. Something tells me to the feel the sheets… they’re completely moist as if they had just came out of the washer and had just been thrown on the bed.. So I go on the check the mattress's….. BED BUG STAINS!!!!!!!!!!!

I called back down to the office immediately. Mind you both ladies had told me before they had other rooms available. I’m not sure why I was even interested in another room but at the time I just wanted to get settled and recoup from being on the road so I asked if they could switch me to something else even if I had to be in the 1st tower. They called their self teaming up on me and tell me they didn’t have anything else and I could just come down so they could issue my refund. I go down to the office and try and talk it out because it seems they were being nasty from the get go whenever I never did or said anything to be treated that way. I had already paid $500 for 4 nights and I knew it could possibly take 3-5 business days for my refund to process. I get to the office and they didn’t even acknowledging me until after about 5 minutes. As I’m talking they just kept going about what they were doing on the computer.. up until I say “ if you don’t like your job get a new one”.. they were both triggered then 🤣🤣🤣 The refund was already issued before I made it in there as if I was the problem for calling them for complaining about mold and possible BED BUGS!!! And I accused them of doing that intentionally because I had asked for a clean and functional room.

Thank God the refund came back Instantly and I was able to go somewhere else with better service. But just imagine being excited for your birthday vacation just to arrive and be treated so evil. What if that was all I had and couldn’t get another room somewhere else?

I hope the employees find the line of work that makes them happy and not bitter/miserable to the point of where they take it out on people who have nothing to do with it as they’re doing now. That misery sure looks ugly on the both of you all and the low life...
