The good, the bad and the ugly. I paid extra to have an Oceanfront room. And it was Oceanfront full View and beautiful. The pools are a decent sized and there are multiple to help reduce over crowding. That sums up the good. The bad, the rooms are hotel rooms from the 60s or 70s, they are VERY small! The bathroom is very dated just like everything else but the bathroom is especially crummy. Tiles loose and broken around toilet, tub and shower head appear to be the original. When we arrived 1 elevator was working but even it stopped intermittently during our visit. On to the ugly, after night one we were up and getting ready to go to the beach. It was around 9 am and I stepped on the floor between the two beds and stepped on a Cockroach that was crawling around. I then got a shoe and finished him off. I notified the front office of the bug and sent them a picture. They responded by telling me it was just a palmetto bug or water bug. They offered to have exterminator come by and I told them I was concerned because there is an asthmatic and a baby in the room that don't need to be around the chemicals. So they did nothing. I looked up what a "palmetto bug" is and guess what, I am not an idiot it is a Cockroach! That evening we come back to the room after dinner, flip on the light and a Cockroach is crawling on the wall!! We got a shoe and smash it and call the front desk, telling them to do something about the problem NOW. And that a palmetto bug is a Cockroach and to stop trying to sugar coat it. They said they would send maintenance up to the room and I sat in the bed waiting for something to crawl on me for an hour, no one came to my room. I called the front desk again and was told maintenance was busy but they would be up soon. Waited and waited almost ready to give up and try to get some sleep and another COCKROACH was spotted crawling around on the curtain! I freak out and made my husband kill it and call the front desk again. I tell them that we have now killed 3 of them, they r crawling out of the curtains and the baby's play pin /bed is right under them. It's after 11 at this point and they again say maintenance will be up soon. I wait and wait and after an extremely restless night fearing I will wake up with a Cockroach on one of the children, I get ready for the beach trying to enjoy my vacation. I stop by the front desk and speak to an assistant manager. I tell her the story and instead of trying to fix the problem, just like everyone else she just insisted I stop calling the COCKROACH a COCKROACH and call it a palmetto bug. She said they had put a call into the exterminator that morning and were just waiting for them to get there. She tried telling me it was my fault they have Cockroaches because I probably left the door to the balcony open to listen to the water. I told her that I didn't and she then said well maybe our room was missed last tine they sprayed. Either way they did what they could and called the exterminator, a manager that isn't concerned with the way I was treated or with the bug problem in my room was unfortunately just par for the course at this point. She did inform me that they r very common and she has her house sprayed twice a month, I am so glad she can sleep without worrying about them crawling on her or her children! We go to the beach and pool, we are gone for hours, come back for lunch and stop by the front desk to inquire about the exterminator and what a surprise the assistant manager is no longer available to talk to me but told the person at the desk that the exterminator hasn't been there yet. There is nothing they can do but could maybe move us to a city view room (not refund the premium I paid for the ocean front) and if there are roaches crawling out of my curtain they are probably in the building. I leave, go to lunch and guess what, no exterminator but they will notify me if another room is available. Day 3 the exterminator shows up about 30 min after they finally offered to move us to another room. ... Oh no, out of space.. Palmetto bugs are Roaches -...
Read moreStayed here with family for 3 nights 4 days.
I read aaaaaaalllllll these reviews in the weeks leading up to our stay and thought "Well, everyone has their own opinions. It can't be THAT bad"...... WRONG!! IT IS THAT BAD!!!
TRUST THESE REVIEWS: THEY AINT LYING!!!
Positives: Rooms are semi-clean, OK amenities, close to lots of activities on Mrytle's main strip, entertainment at the pool was super fun. BUT THAT'S IT!!!! Everything else SUCKED!
Negatives: Timeshare: I get that the timeshare crap is how this hotel makes it money but shoving it down regular paying guest's throats is very annoying. Specifically a male tour guide giving a tour to a couple and was pretty much YELLING at them. I was on the phone with a family member and couldn't even hear them because the tour guide was so LOUD and AGGRESSIVE. I was uncomfortable and I wasn't even a part of the tour. I can't imagine how the poor couple stuck with him felt.
UNPROFESSIONAL WORKERS!
Firstly, I am NOT speaking about the sweet cleaning ladies, each and every FEMALE housekeeper we encountered was very sweet and kind. There was a younger, male housekeeper working on the 3rd floor on Saturday, July 19th. My two MINOR daughters went to get something from our room and on the way down to the pool encountered this man. He asked them questions like "How old are yall? Who's older? Are y'all here alone?" That is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. My family is here to relax and have a good time, not be made to feel unsafe. It'd be one thing coming from another guest but a HOTEL WORKER SEXUALLY HARASSING MINORS? Disgusting! Unfortunately we didn't get his name or else I'd provide that here too. Y'all be careful going here with young girls!!!
Second, while in the 8ft pool with my family, an older man with a creepy mustache in a black polo shirt came by the pool and took a photo of a young child at the steps of the pool with a black phone. I saw the interaction and said to my sister "I sure hope they know each other." Because why is a random man taking photos of kids in swimsuits?? He then walked to the other side of the pool and pulled out a white phone (different than the black phone he took of pic of the first child with) and took photo of the stairs going into the pool, there were two teenage girls chilling to the right of the stairs and, when they saw him take the photo, they gave each other a 'that was weird' type look. I asked if they knew this man and they said no. Another mom in the pool started talking to us/the teenage girls because she saw the entire interaction as well. By this time, the polo shirt man had walked away but then walked back by and laughed and said to the teenage girls "Don't worry, you two weren't in the photo." then just walked away??? Why did he take a photo with one phone of a child on the stairs and then take a ANOTHER photo with a DIFFERENT phone of the other set of stairs?? No one around us knew him?? Weirdo!!!!! If he's from the hotel taking promotional photos, that should be stated PRIOR to taking the photo. And the pics taken included minors, did the hotel get consent from the child's parent to take these photos? Where are they being posted? I haven't seen them posted of WG's socials anywhere. PEDO VIBES!
3.FOOD/RESTURANTS SUCK Do not waste your money on 'Drafts Bar & Grill' they served me Boneless wings that were more like McDonalds chicken nuggets. Its SOOOOO expensive for crappy food. The drinks at the Pool Bar are expensive for the smallest splash of alcohol. Vending machines are expensive and didn't even work half the time. The convenience store they have that serves starbucks is expensive and the drinks taste bad.
POOLS ARE DIRTY, CLOUDY AND HAVE TONS OF WITH HAIR, BUGS & DEBRIS!!
I could go on and on.... stay at...
Read moreThis was honestly the worst stay I’ve ever had.
When we first arrived on our very first night, they offered us a pack-and-play for our child and said they would bring it to the room. Four hours went by, and when we followed up, they said none were available. The lady at the desk admitted she had simply forgotten about it.
There was mold in our room, and when we told the front desk, they admitted they get that complaint often because the building is old. They tried moving us to other rooms—one of them still had wet paint on the backside of the door. We have a one-year-old, and my wife is allergic to mold. She still had allergic reactions in the other rooms.
Instead of truly accommodating us, they sent someone to clean. Then, while we were at their presentation, they tried to sell us a timeshare—using our awful stay and the mold situation as part of their pitch. They even said that if we didn’t want to stay on “that side” anymore, we could become owners and switch to the condo side. When I asked why they wouldn’t just do that to help us regardless, they said they only have the power to help owners.
If you’re considering a vacation package here, don’t do it. It might sound like a great deal, but think about it: if you’re paying around $1,000 a month for a whole year for just one week in a timeshare, that’s $12,000 a year. They’re making around $52,000 per unit every month. You will never spend $12,000 on a unit for one week anywhere else—it’s absurd.
The pool and all activities close at 10 PM, so if you’re an adult with kids, once your kids are asleep, there’s basically nothing to do unless you go out clubbing—which I don’t do. I just wanted to relax. They have a lazy river, but you can’t relax there either—kids are constantly swimming and splashing in it, even though the rules clearly say not to.
One day, my wife was in the shower and we needed towels. I went downstairs to the desk and asked for them, explaining that she was in the shower and we needed them within the next 10 minutes. They came 30 minutes later. The worst part? While waiting, I saw a lady in the hallway hanging towels. I asked if I could have one, and she said no—I had to call the front desk or go down there. I told her I already had, but she still refused.
The staff was rude the entire time. The room was filthy—any time our baby walked around barefoot, her feet would turn black within minutes.
If you’re expecting breakfast here, think again. They only serve breakfast at 9 AM, and it’s only for guests attending a presentation or meeting with a timeshare sales agent. Even the cheapest motels include at least a small breakfast—but not here.
All in all, this place is a dump. Don’t waste your money. Go to Holiday Inn Vacations or somewhere else with good reviews. And if you’re visiting Myrtle Beach in general, be aware that the water isn’t clean—it’s brown, so don’t expect...
