Escapology Escape Rooms Myrtle Beach — Local services in Myrtle Beach

This review is about six months late 🤭, but better late then never, right?

I had the opportunity to visit Escapology Myrtle Beach in October '22. I am an Escape Room Enthusiast, so I took a trip from NY to SC to go down memory lane, but also to experience some local ERs.

Given that the last time I was in SC, ERs did not exist, I Googled the ones in the area. Despite the mixed reviews, my sister and I decided to give this location a try. We. Had. A. Blast.

The interior as soon as you walk in amazing. The decor sets the mood and gets you ready for your experience. This location offers 5 different rooms of varying levels, AND WE PLAYED AND ESCAPED ALL 5, just the two of us. Our Game Masters, especially Kenny, were the best. Take it from us, it helps when your game master is excited about their job, and that was this team. Now, despite our escaping all the rooms, some of the rooms had some challenges. My sister and I are overthinkers, so here's a hint, don't overthink the puzzles. We needed hints for things we thought were too obvious to actually be the answer, but lo and behold, they were.

Other than the friendliness of the team and the great time we had playing the first room, we decided to play the other four rooms because EMB offered a discount on each additional room we played as long as we played it within 24hrs. As such, how could we pass up on a great offer?

Location/Parking: EMB is located a few blocks from the beach. As such, it's a beachy area. This location is located in a mini shopping area which offers ample parking. As such, unless it's extremely busy, you won't have to worry about parking far and/or having to pay for parking.

Overall, would I recommend? YES!!! If you love Escape Rooms and/or looking to try one, AND you happen to be in the area, then go give this location a try.

We would definitely return with other people or if they open...

We returned to Escapology as it was under new management. We were scheduled for a later game, but John so kindly got us in earlier and out of the scorching heat.

Zoey was our game host. We were in the 7 Deadly Sins room, and let me tell you, it was tough! My brain hurt at the end, and we only got 6 of the sins checked off :( But the room was top-notch, with really cool clues and puzzles. Zoey so kindly showed us how the puzzle would have ended, if we had completed it. This is our 6th escape room, and the only one we did not finish in time.

----4/2019 review---- I sent an email to the owner and haven't heard from them in over a week, so I'll post my experience here.

There are many escape rooms in Myrtle Beach. I'd recommend choosing another over this one.

The plus? It's a nice, clean building. I'd like to say that the props were quality, but there were a few that were broken.

The worst part of our escape room (the Wild West themed one) was that the final, grand finale puzzle -- the one you need to solve to escape the room -- WAS UNLOCKED. The host blamed it on the person who worked the night before not setting up the room before he left for the night, so the current host had to rush to get the room ready for us. Kind of a bummer, right?

Unlike the other escape rooms I've been in, the hosts didn't actually watch us. So when I called for a hint, the response was something like, "Well, have you found the xxx yet?" or "Have you found all the xxx yet?" The host could see us, but wasn't watching us.

I could tell that the hosts simply didn't care and weren't invested in our experience.

At the end, we received via email a 970x720 pixel, unlit, upside down picture of our group with our host's finger in the upper-right corner. It was the sad cherry on top of our sad escape room...

Updated: Sept 20th,2020 My first review was 3 stars. The owner emailed me to make sure I had a better experience. Which I truly appreciate him doing that. We definitely had an amazing experience this time. EXACTLY what I expected the first time, I totally received. The game master,Kenny, was on it with clues. He knew exactly where we were and how to help us. It was SO EXCITING this time around and the employees were super friendly like the first time around. I had such a fun Birthday experience. Thank you and we will definitely be back. 100% would recommend coming here. So thrilling.

Old review: They were really nice, place was clean but my one thing is that the game master was not knowledgable. We had Zoe and she was really nice but we were getting the same clues that we were already doing at some points and none of it was really leading us to know what to do. If anything we were more confused by some clues. We have done Escapology in Fayetteville, NC and the game masters were more involved with our every move so they knew exactly what clue to give to help us. We lost the game, but that was on us too obviously lol not blaming them at all. Just making sure for the next groups that the game masters are more focused in on the room so they know what...
