There are several pros and cons for this place. Let's start with the pros: -The price was reasonable -The room was clean and the beds were comfortable -Most of the staff was friendly and helpful -There is direct beach access and there are lifeguards on duty during the day -Free covered parking is included -The food was decent -Location is close to most of the local attractions. Everything was within a 15 minute drive. The airport is 6 mins away but you can't hear it. -The pools and hot tubs were all functional and maintained, if not the most up to date. -Housekeeping readily replaces towels or takes out the trash but they only do a full cleaning every 4 days.
Now the cons: -There are no interior hallways, all rooms open directly to the outdoors like a motel. This is not made apparent anywhere on the website and if it is not what you are expecting it is quite a disappointment. -Anytime it rained (often but not continuous) we had to walk outside and get wet just to reach our room. This also means there are few public areas with A/C other than the lobby and the floors with the shop or the game area. -Elevators have NO A/C. This doesn't sound like a deal breaker, but if you are riding to the top floor with multiple stops in a crowded hot box for even 2 minutes it gets stifling and sweaty. -The room boasted a full kitchen. It had utensils, pots and pans etc, but not all of the electric burners worked on the stove and the fridge froze everything we put on it. -There is no dinner restaurant, only for breakfast. There is a pool grill open til 9pm, but everything is served to-go and you have to eat outside or take it to your room. -Everything requires their "splash pass" which is just your room key. You can't eat in the restaurants without it, or open any doors. You also need to scan your card to operate the elevators which sounds secure, but it is cumbersome, especially with kids or if you're carrying anything. -The neighborhood is very depressed with lots of aging motels and construction sites nearby. I never felt unsafe, but it also did not seem like a good idea to walk anywhere. -The balcony has cheap indoor/outdoor carpeting which is perpetually sopping wet bc the aging A/C unit constantly drips without any proper drainage. If you put wet clothes out to dry and they touch the ground they will end up wetter than you left them.
All in all, our kids had a great time, but they would be happy anywhere with a pool. This place labels itself a resort but it is a hotel with extra stuff on site.
They have a full sized bowling alley with multiple lanes and bumpers etc, but for 2 adults and 2 children for 1 hr cost ~$70. I understand having a time limit, but 1 hour is too long for 1 game and not long enough for 2. We were cut off on the 5th frame of our 2nd game. The woman in charge of the bowling alley the day we went was borderline rude and not helpful at all. I can chalk that up to having a bad day, but she didn't even explain that there was a time limit, she just rang us up and asked our shoe size and that was it.
I feel like my biggest disappointment with this place was the lack of transparency. Based on the pictures online and the description, we thought we were going a step above for accommodations and we ended up with something below our normal standards. This is a perfectly acceptable hotel if you understand what you are getting and you have the proper expectations, but upon arrival it felt like a bait and switch. If you are looking for a place that is clean, affordable and on the beach, this is a good choice. If you want a high end resort with upscale accouterments, you had best...
Read moreDiamond, the front desk supervisor saved this from being a 2 star review. Things they don't tell you at the front desk upon check-in:
Service charges apply to all purchases in the resort. Gratuity is included on all charges in the resort. Making cocktails like $15-$16 each.
The breakfast buffet is all you can order at breakfast time if you dine in, the menu of all other items are only available for take out.
I started a review when we were there and it disappeared but there are dozens of other rules and things you don't know till you pay for them or are told no by staff. Staff are put in many awkward positions because of it.
Rooms are okay, bathrooms are dated and rough. Our toilet ran nonstop the entire stay. Kept finding balls of hair, in the tub, in the towels, etc.
The saving grace here is that you are right on the beach and the numerous pools. While the main pool stayed a little busy, the splash children area was never too busy and was great for our 2.5 year old, she loved it.
We got there at 3pm and did all the check in process. We were not given much information at check in. Told to pay attention to our phone or come back of check in time 4pm. We came back at about 410pm and told the room was still not ready. We were a little disappointed to say the least and decided to grab an early dinner. We got a phone call at 4:34pm that our room was ready but were being seated for diner. We got back at 6pm and I voiced my concern that the room wasn't ready at check-in time. We have a toddler and wanted to all get changed and head to the pool right away but couldn't/didn't. The woman working the front counter was outright the rudest customer service agent I've ever encountered. She said well you refused the option that was available to you at check in time so.... I said we didn't refuse anything. She adjusted her glasses, typed a little bit and said yes you did its in the notes let me bring it up. I said well we weren't offered anything just after 4 when we tried to check in. Oh it says a voicemail was left and you didn't call back so. I replied with but check in as at 4pm and the room wasn't available for us to use we wanted to change quick. Well you could have changed in the changing rooms downstairs. I said, we had no idea there was such things or anything, no one told us that and being able to use the room at 4pm was our expectation. (Then the craziest theory ever was said by this individual.) Well check in time starts at 4pm we don't have to provide you a room by 4pm, you just buy the night, so we only have to provide with a room for the overnight time. (I couldn't fathom this statement) I said, so does check out start at 11am? She replied no, its by 11 then pretended to type for about 45 seconds. I said so that's it we are leaving this unsatisfied then and walked away.
Thank God Diamond called and made it right. She apologized for the...
Read moreFamily went to Coral Beach Resort 1105 south ocean beach blvd. Hotel is visible from the street. Parking is free and handicapped accessible. Check in was easy. They put a 250.00 hold on your credit card for any incidentals charges to the room. This is a cashless hotel which means everything is charged to your room or paid by debit card. We had a king premium suite. We had room 604 ocean view. The room had a musty, moldy smell from the air system, system probably needs flushing. I tried to clean the vents and they were dirty but it still smelled. I would suggest taking up the carpet and putting some nice tile down to cut the smell. Also the cleaning people need to be cleaning the filters of the air system, which wasn’t done. The location is beautiful. Right on the beach. The hotel has many things to keep your little ones busy. Hotel has beach chairs you can reserve when you check in at 140 a week. But we bought chairs for cheaper. Bowling alley, pools and a lazy river. Food has to be improved for a large beach hotel. Grilled Chicken sandwich was terrible, one compressed chicken nugget on a bun. Rooms are outdated and bathrooms need updated badly. Shower pressure was an issue in this room but the tub worked fine. The shower needs to have a new shower head because of lack of pressure. Old outdated toilet and tub area. The virtual tour online shows everything. Kitchen had everything you needed for a dinner at home. I made pasta and meatballs one evening and no issues. The end electric plug in the kitchen is broken and was not working. Full size refrigerator with two ice trays but no ice machine in the refrigerator so we filled up some bags and just tossed them in the freezer for the week. Location was amazing, right on the beach. Hotel staff was attentive but some spoke very little English. They just go in your room to replace towels and take out garbage. They even cleaned up a broken dish. Should put broom and dust pan so we could have cleaned it up ourselves, but the staff was on it. No late check out at this hotel so be aware of that as well. Souvenir shop has lots of stuff if needed from eggs to bread to Advil and snacks. Hotel gives you some coupons for 1/2 off bowling and a free can wrap aka coozie. All in all would go back and it’s a great place for...
