Update 2/2022" the shops are a bit more outdated, and though prices can be high for some,, there is good deals to be found if you look, and I recommend getting in there websites for online accounts that can save you quite a bit.. West Marine is a cool though small store and if not on sale is pretty expensive... Ulta has got the best deals, but better if you get an account on line,, the savings are awesome then,, I've walked out with many free items.. the Taiko was still tasty last visit, the grocery stores Food Lion has become a blessing since Covid and now online pickup or delivered groceries, as well the Dollar Store which it's not a dollar anymore..but still great for a inexpensive pickup and this one has a good variety of items..though a bit messy and disorganized at times it's worth it for the price, Fresh Market is still a bit costly but great for those things you can't purchase anywhere else, a nice treat, and meats and produce are some of the best on the Outer Banks.. still waiting for the coupons and perks that havent begun yet, though I did get an online account..wouldn't you know. I hope as a supporting local that with the new year we'll see better prices.. and incentives for the residents who live here year round supporting and keeping many of the shops and stores in business.. still easy to get to and though not large a good variety of places to check out. .*** June 19"..( The new Ulta Shop is awesome,) the staff great, accomadating and so friendly, knowledge about there products, this is a new shop by the Dollar Store, definitely worth checking out, and sign up for the free emails and opportunities to get points towards products. /)... The outer banks mall, thou small. .. has plenty of great shops to keep you busy, yes it does cater to the visitor vacationg but there Is now new shops , including local " Duck Donuts' which I must admit has the best donuts on the beach, there is the local grocery store, Food Lion" I recommend shopping late. Like after 10pm. Or the store is unbearable and usually not fully stocked . Mainly for reasons of more vacationers then items to keep up. There is foreign students working now which helps, to a degree..I have gotten to where I watch all they do, for there English is not good and there is mistakes made , who wants to pay twice for 1 item if not needed. . I personally go to the year round check outs, you'll know who if you see the cashier talking nonstop to there friends in a different language and to me as a customer it can be quite rude... also they will I know for I'v been one who has had it done to myself. . A complete lack of customer service and rudeness if you question anything, and then not in English will comment to there friend next to them , with a roll of eyes " a laugh at your expense, the Food Lion corp. Claims there needed but there Is so many locals who are in dire need of jobs, but they don't want to share a home with 10 or more other's, so keep that in mind... there is some good restaurants as well.. and your normal everyday stores that are and can be convenient. The new shop ' is for those who want to , spend over $100.00 for a home item or even more, little ridiculous when drive down the road to a locally owned shop and help those who live and lived most there lives here and see the awesome locally made items.. but that is just a 48 year olds opinion .. have fun. And check out the 'cottage shop ,very cool items and many by local artisans.

Great selection of everything you could need to feed yourself or the family. You could come here with your shopping list for those dinners, desserts, etc.. that you've been planning. You could also just come here and purchase breakfast, lunches, dinners, and snacks prepared for you. We had them roll some sushi for us fresh on one of the visits. We also tried their flatbreads which were delicious. I found beet hummus here, and their selection of chocolates and taffy were superior to most of the supermarkets I've ever visited. Their banana nut bread was as good as my grandma's well guarded family recipe. This place fed us for the majority of our vacation, yet if I lived in the area it's exactly where I'd shop for my weekly groceries.

We went to JJ Brewbakers. The food was great. We have come down several times and saw that they were opening. When we got here this week we happy to get a chance to go. The restaurant has a real comfortable bar area and the dining is large and has alot of seating. Our waitress was super friendly. We got a few appetizers and our lunch was delicious. The manager Bill came over and introduced himself. I know we will be back and want to go during the Bacon Eggs and Divas show.

The Christmas Mouse is located here now, so... 'nuff said! ;-) lol Duck Donuts has an awesome staff & world-class donuts, but needs to provide more than one adult table - at least some chairs or something. My elderly mother had to stand up while attempting to eat a donut AND balance a cup of coffee :-/ They are always packed around 9am, so go early!

Wide range of stores here including Home Goods, Ulta Beauty, Dollar Tree, Tuesday Morning, furniture stores, two grocers, and much more including many eateries. (Grits Grill is a favorite!) You could literally spend a whole day at this...
