*Update: After I reached out to the corporate office and explained my experience, with the accompanying evidence, I was issued a partial refund. I appreciate that Red Roof Inn has made an effort to right this wrong. I hope that this location will also bring exterminators onsite and revamp the cleaning procedures to help prevent any other guests from having a similar experience.
Unfortunately, my stay at this location was pretty awful (to say the least). The staff was very friendly throughout my ordeal, but it seems their management may need to update cleaning procedures. I was in town to help a loved one with an NFL draft event. We arrived around 3 am following a long multi-state road trip. I went to my first room (room 230). The room had a mildew-like odor upon entering. In the bathroom, there was feces in the toilet; the toilet was extremely low-flow and difficult to flush. Shortly after setting my phone and bottle of water on the night stand next to the bed, I noticed a baby roach crawling around; I killed it with some tissue from my purse. I was thoroughly disgusted and scared at this point but hoped that at the very least I would not see any more roaches. I called down to the front desk to ask for another room. The attendant apologized but said there were no other rooms available; she offered to come up and clean the toilet. I felt bad having her do that as I'm sure that is not her normal responsibility, being a front desk attendant. She insisted it was OK and I agreed for her to come up. After she cleaned the toilet she offered to wipe down the night stand but I declined because I didn't want to have the strong bleach smell next to the bed and I didn't like the idea of the same rag used on the toilet being used on something so close to the bed. After the attendant left, more baby roaches appeared on the night stand. I killed two more but as even more kept coming out I finally just gave up. I also noticed a drool or semen stain on one of the bed shams. At this point I am dead tired and devastated that I couldn't sleep, without fear of getting roaches on me and my belongings. I pulled both of the double beds about 5 inches from the wall, placed all of my belonging in the center of one of the beds and sat on the other to wait the rest of the night/early morning out. At least the bed comforter was white, so I could clearly see if any roaches or bugs were near me or my things. Once regular morning hours arrived, I gathered my things and went back to the front desk to request another room again. Thankfully, there was one available. I moved to room 115. It had the same mildew smell , extremely low flow toilet and another drool or semen stain on one of the bed shams, but thankfully I did not see any roaches in this room for the rest of my stay. I didn't have much faith in the cleanliness practices at this hotel/motel, at this point, so I went to a nearby Walgreens to get some Lysol spray, Clorox wipes, paper towels and trash bags; I used the trash bags to bag my belongings when not in use, just in case the roaches made another appearance. When I was finally able to check out, the front desk attendant on duty asked how my stay was; I was respectfully honest with her. She apologized. There was a man with glasses and an accent behind the counter with her, whom I believe to be one of the owners or at least a manager. I was disappointed to see this man, the possible owner or manager, look down and walk off to the side as I began to briefly and respectfully describe my experience. He made no attempts to make this right. This is especially a smack in the face considering they charged more than $200 per night-- a price markup of more that 100% their regular prices so that they could capitalize on people in town for the NFL Draft. I don't especially fault the price markup, as all of the hotels and businesses in the area have the same practice. However Red Roof Inn Plus should just be sure to give the customer what they have paid for-- a clean, safe environment-- or make it right when you don't...

ACCORDING TO THEM, I WAS ASKED TO LEAVE AT 3 AM AND AM OUT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT I WAS SMOKING TOO CLOSE TO THE BUILDING. WHICH THEY DID NOT VERIFY ON THEIR OWN CAMERA SYSTEM. OBVIOUSLY. STILL WORKING WITH CORPORATE TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. IF A HOTEL CAN MAKE YOU LEAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, CHARGE YOU HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS, ALLLLL WITHOUT ANY VERIFIABLE EVIDENCE, MAYBE YOU NEED TO FIND A DIFFERENT HOTEL.I WAS MISINFORMED ABOUT THE SMOKE DETECTOR. IT WAS A PHOTOELECTRIC SENSOR THAT WE PRESSUME WAS TRIGGERED BY A FACIAL STEAMER. TO SEE ALL CORRESPONDENCE, HEAD OVER TO TWITTER (X) WHERE I HAVE PUBLICY POSTED OUR CONVERSATIONS AND A VIDEO OF THE HARRASSMENT WE ENDURED. DO NOT STAY HERE! I was asleep in my room and at 2:30 AM the security guard came to the door knocking and woke me up. I was told I was smoking in the room ans that I had tomleave the premises. I WAS NOT SMOKING AND THERE WAS 0 EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT THIS....BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAPPEN. YOU CANT PROVE I DID SOMETHING THAT I DIDNT DO. I was told the "smoke alarm" alerted them at midnight. I was not even in the room at that time and why would they wake me up 2 hours later for this!?!?! With the security guard in the doorway, I walked over to the smoke alarm, twisted it to remove it from the base and held it up for him to see. The alarm was not hard wired and was a battery operated First Response alarm from Walmart. I closed the door and called the front desk to ask what in the world was going on. She said what I listed above and said if we did not leave immediately then the police would escort me off the premises. The security guard stood and my door and knocked continuously for several minutes. I called the police because he was being so aggressive. So we packed our things at 3 am and waited for the officer to come assist us. I WAS CHARGED A SMOKING FEE FOR A ROOM I DID NOT SMOKE OR SLEEP IN. WAS MADE TO LEAVE OVER A SUSPICION OF CIGERETTE SMOKE, NOT ILLEGAL DRUGS, LOUD MUSIC ETC. IT WAS THE CRAZIEST, WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD FROM A HOTEL. I would rather sleep in my car then get a hotel room at this establishment. I had 3 rooms total so I have been seperated from my family as well. It put my safety at risk having to change locations in the middle of the night while out of town. I know it sounds crazy, and that's because IT WAS. RUN. FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I'm not sure if this was discrimination because of the dynamic of my blended family or if they are just this awful all of their guests. I have video footage and pictures and have contacted their corporate office. If their policy is to kick someone out over "suspected cigerette smoke", in the middle of the night, after the guest has been asleep for an hour, then I will NEVER stay at another Red Roof as long as I live. And you...
Read moreI am giving this hotel only three stars for a few reasons.
First, let me start with the good about this hotel. They are pet friendly, which is huge for me! I have three dogs and although they state in their rules that only one dog is allowed to each room, they allowed me to have two dogs in my husband and I's room, and one dog in my kids' room, which I thought was really great, especially since it's one of the few hotels in the area that doesn't charge a pet fee on top of nicely priced rooms. Also, the rooms are pretty awesome for a motel. The bed is decently comfortable, and they have hardwood flooring, which once again is great for pets! The staff was pretty friendly as well.
Now onto the negatives, which for me outweighed the positives. It is a motel type place, as in the doors are facing outside, which isn't very comfortable to me when I'm not familiar with the area, but I got over that. I don't like that the bed linens are the old school, 70s style quilt-like bedspreads. I feel like all hotels should at least have some sort of bedspread, if not a down comforter these days. Also, in this summer heat I would have liked to see a window unit that was more updated and actually functioned properly. In my children's room, their air conditioner went down to 60 degrees, our only to 64. But, in their room there was no difference between the medium fan setting and the high. It barely blew at all, whereas ours worked sufficiently. Now for my absolute deal breaker, and the reason I will not be coming back to this hotel again, is the bathroom. The bathroom is absolutely tiny, but the worst part was the product options they give you. A bar of absolutely terrible, sticky, dry soap, and one bottle of "Shampoo/conditioner about the size of my pinky. My husband had to go ask for five more and I used every last drop, so six total. But the worst part is that the "shampoo/conditioner" absolutely destroyed my hair. It made it to the point where while I was lathering my hair, it was so sticky and dry that my hair was being pulled out by my fingers. I'm not even kidding. It felt as if I was washing my hair with part dollar store bar soap, and part glue. Brushing out my hair after was a nightmare. For a motel that offers room service, you'd think they'd at least invest in separate shampoo and conditioner, that didn't feel like you're washing your hair with children's art supplies. I know this may seem dumb to most people, but for someone who had just got done with a ten hour road trip from Texas, dealing with 90+ degree weather, I at least expected a decent shower at the end of the night.
Sorry for the long post but I want people to understand what this place has to, or doesn't...
