We found this hotel to be dripping with charm! The service was super-friendly & welcoming. Their parking fees are more reasonable than any other hotel in The FQ we have stayed at previously. The bedding, mattress, linens were luxe. The furniture is all gorgeous antique pieces... our bed in Rm 34 was fabulous! We had a 3rd floor, courtyard view, but even better than that, a 3rd floor view of The FQ & CBD & gorgeous sunsets. Our stay was relatively quiet, no rowdy neighbors & surprisingly, no ghost encounters, which we were sort of excited about. I guess we will need to plan to return for ghost encounters. The piano bar is a delightful experience... we had the opportunity to spend a few minutes & a nice cocktail with a pianist & artist belting out some Billy Joel, Elton John, CCR, Crosby Still Nash & Young & Alannis Morrisette & Tori Amos. A wide variety of music & so, so friendly & talented. Kristen was her name, I believe. This historic building is laden with gorgeous architecture, beautiful folk art, nice coffee in the lobby, luxe rugs & furniture. A passcode is required to get in... we felt totally secure & safe. The location is situated on the far east end of Bourbon, just outside the hustle & bustle but directly across the block from the infamous & historical Jean Lafittes Blacksmith Shop (pub). There is plenty of fabulous New Orleans cuisine & necessities within a block's walk of this hotel. & while enjoying the piano bar, we witnessed a couple of guided ghost tours visit this establishment & hear their paranormal stories & ghost history, while taking advantage of the cocktail bar, clean restrooms, music at the piano & gorgeous candle-lit courtyard. Highly recommend! Will plan to visit again.

BEWARE: Under new, unresponsive management. *Biggest issue impacting rating: Management in transition with an unresolved issue with a missing package. *Summary of our stay: Simple, no frills, basic hotel in a convenient location, stay Dec 28-Jan2. *Pros: Good location; Historic charm (which could also lead to Cons); Nice front desk staff; Wifi; Free breakfast snacks/coffee; Has an elevator (small and old, but it works) *Cons: Hotel management in transition; Mysterious staff opened a package we mailed to the hotel and an item was missing (unresolved still as of 1/14/16); we were in room 34, see warnings below -- Room 34, 3rd fl, Courtyard. Warnings: Door knob always broke; Rain leaked through doors so don't leave belongings near doors when it rains heavily; Room visible through curtains; Bed frame too big for room causing injuries; Pillows caused stiff neck; No heat (so bundle up); Tiny bathroom (not good for tall/larger or handicapped folks); No safe for valuables; No phone to call front desk -- Update as of 2/1, rating reduced from 3 to 2 stars: Still no response or returned call from the management company or manager, Sharee (sp?), despite over 10 calls and messages left by me and my friend who was also a guest. Still waiting for that response regarding our opened package and missing item.

The second you walk in you’re greeted by the friendliest and most mindful front desk between Ken and Shana! They make you feel welcome like you’re apart of their family and they’ll watch out for you and your wellbeing. Our room felt like an old world southern mansion room with the 4 post bed and big fireplace toward the foot. It was incredibly clean, the sheets were so soft, and the bed was almost too comfortable as it was hard to wake up in the morning. The room also had a very nice sized beverage fridge and full closet to put your things away. The balcony was our favorite though, serving as your own box suite to watch the festivities below on Bourbon street, from morning till 3am… ish. Location-wise, everything was within walking distance from the next door oldest operating bar in the US with its candlelight ambiance, to the Sazerac distillery and its official cocktail of New Orleans. The absolute BEST part of this hotel though was the two unforgettable owners that made an ever-lasting impression on us! They left us feeling as if we’ve been apart of their family our entire lives such that we can’t wait to go back and hug them again. Cheers to all the great nights (and Purple Dranks lol)!

Loved the hotel and the area. For the most part staff was very friendly and helpful. It was our first time visiting New Orleans, and we wanted to take in the full experience.

We were told when we checked in that the hotel bar would be open that night. Later that evening after enjoying a good meal we returned to the hotel to have a night cap from the hotel bar and sit out on the balcony.

When we walked in to the hotel entrance a short statured woman with blond hair approached us and told us that we were not allowed to be there, only addressing my girlfriend, my girlfriend kept walking in the entrance and this woman put her hand on her arm and told us again that we had to leave. My girlfriend told the woman that we were staying there and we were apologized to and allowed to enter. We made our way to the bar and a similar looking woman with dark hair approached us and addressing my girlfriend again and says that we are not allowed to be here there was a private party and we needed to leave. We were not told anything about a private party when we checked in. My girlfriend addressed the second woman and said we are just trying to buy a drink. The woman stated again that she had to leave.. I was never talked to or told that I had to leave. My girlfriend told the woman that we were staying at the hotel and all we were tying to do was purchase a drink and go up to our room. At this point people surrounding us were watching the interaction and you could tell my girlfriend was visibly upset and embarrassed. One of the guest at the party even said we were allowed to stay and it wasn’t an issue. The woman ignored him and said that if we want a drink she would take us next door to one of the bars they own and purchase us whatever we wanted trying to provide some damage control. We were then escorted across the street and provided drinks. The brown haired woman left and went back to the hotel.

A few minutes pass and both the blonde and brown haired woman approach us. Come to find it they are sisters and part owners.. they came and apologized to my girlfriend again and said that she looked like someone who works in the area and ‘they can’t have people like her in there’. Pouring salt on an open wound. A few more statements were made, ‘Sorry hunny we didn’t know you were staying here. We know you were upset we don’t want you to feel that way’. It was obvious that they were worry about the whole interaction. My girlfriend is of mixed race. They left soon after and my girlfriend was very upset and said she felt like she was treated unfairly.

Overall the hotel is very nice as well as most of the staff, but I don’t think we will ever be staying...

We were excited to visit New Orleans for the first time with some friends. We stayed in the Guest House two bedroom across the street from the hotel. It is advertised as a two bedroom with a full kitchen, laundry facilities and a bathroom with each bedroom, living room and wrap around balcony. On arrival the place looked pretty good. Bedrooms were a nice size and it looked clean. That's where the good ended unfortunately... the heat in the home could not be regulated.. it was hot in the master and freezing everywhere else.. we went to cook breakfast but the stove didn't work .. wasn't even plugged in and then the one frying pan (the only "pot" we had been given) didn't work on that stove.. it was an induction stove that needed specific cookware. So, we thought that's ok we will use the BBQ provided and cook outside... nope no propane.. We had 3 cups, 1 large plate and 1 fork -- we are 4 people … so needless to say that was not going to cut it! We went to speak with the manager or front desk and the manager wasn't too helpful.. his attitude was "whateverish" the front desk ladies were a lot better.. with one telling us "oh they forgot to give you a key for the locked closet" really??? why .. when you know you have 4 guests coming would you not have it set for 4 people and be sure at $1000 per night that everything was available and working properly.. after our inquiry we were shown the locked closet with supplies (pots, dishes etc.) and then we were brought facecloths and hand towels to do our dishes with .. wow! ever tried to wash glasses with a facecloth?? then.. after two days of asking for propane we finally got some... went to do our laundry and that didn't work.. they offered to do our laundry at the hotel when convenient for them of course.. appreciated the gesture.. but the payment made for the week we stayed was for a 2 bedroom home with full amenities.. not the barely taken care of place that needed some TLC.. If for some reason you do choose to pay to stay at this place know that the pictures.. are not representative of the issues.. also.. the courtyard area in the guesthouse part of the establishment was not usable as it was filled with old paint cans, garbage, bikes and appliances... just a junk yard. The cockroach my husband found in the home.. yuck! Very disappointing as we were excited to come to New Orleans... I personally IF i ever go back to New Orleans would not stay on Bourbon Street I would stay on Royal or somewhere else as you can walk to Bourbon Street if you wanted...

We chose this hotel due to location and it’s quirkiness. Sadly that was where the good points ended. We were given very little information on check-in just given the room key and room level. On arriving late in the evening, the room appeared as a large room, with some antique-style furnishings. No room safe, no kettle just an empty fridge and a freezing cold room. A/c control is centrally located and not in anyway overridden. In daylight, the room was dilapidated. The curtains were hanging off and didn’t close, there were chandeliers in the ceiling but only 4 working lightbulbs, the carpet was disgusting, heavily soiled like a 1980’s pub/bar. I would not sit on it to even tie my shoes. In the edges of the room was utter filth were it hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. In the bathroom the bath appeared to have been painted and was peeling off during showering. The hot water took 10 minutes to come through and the shower wasn’t exactly powerful. Under the sink unit was filthy and so was the counters either side of the bath. While using the toilet a cockroach ran past and into the bedroom. Last seen heading under the bed… then we looked under the bed… that hadn’t been cleaned under for years. Absolutely disgusting, I asked for a can of spray to deal with the roach but apparently there wasn’t any. There were more cockroaches on the stairs but we did see pest control leave the following day. Apparently we learned on the last day, in order to get the bedding changed, clean towels or bins emptied, we had to pre-order house keeping at reception. The canopy above the bed had holes in it and the trim was hanging off. I would hate to think when that was last cleaned. The balcony decking had seen better days and appeared rotten in places. The bar staff pair, were absolutely miserable. Ironic that the words “Happy Hour” appear above the door as we must have missed that point of their day as they never even smiled once. The bar area fabric seats had holes in pretty much all of them. Outside on the patio, 10 out of 14 of the seats had massive tears in them and the tables broken. This hotel isn’t cheap by any means, so for it to be in such a state of disrepair is disgraceful. We definitely...
