I wrote this review during my stay to ensure it’s accuracy since every minute it seemed as though I needed to warn others. This hotel/hostel is only suitable for men between the ages of 18-40. That’s it. Do not go as a couple. Do not take your girlfriend/fiancĆ©/wife here unless you want her to break up with you. I waited at the front door of the building in the heat for 10 minutes ringing the doorbell and calling. No answer. This was at 1pm. Finally someone staying there let me in. I called again and a man answered the phone once I was inside and he told me he’d be right there. He came down about 5 minutes later, took out a laptop and charged me a hidden $75 fee (booked through Agota, this fee was not listed, only got this hotel due to competitive pricing, $75 more puts it in a range where I would’ve gone somewhere else). I paid $390.28 on Agota. The hotel claimed I only paid $270 and then charged that extra $75. So ultimately I paid $465.28 for this stay. Not worth the money. At all. I knew I was taking a risk looking at the photos, but didn’t realize what I had gotten. I’m fine with it being a 27 yr old man by myself. I was on the 5th floor. There’s no elevator so if you have trouble with stairs, this is not a good spot. I walked 10 miles beforehand so the stair’s definitely were not fun. There’s 5 rooms and you all share a small bathroom that’s not marked. The rooms are only a bed and a small set of drawers. Much smaller than I anticipated which is fine for what I need. Definitely bring shower shoes and extra warm clothes for the bed. You are provided one towel. So bring soap. There are cameras EVERYWHERE. So bring clothes to the bathroom unless you want them seeing you in a towel. Really bizarre. Bring earplugs as the window is closed but noises come in as if it’s open and all the honking will keep you awake. Bed sheets are gross so you have to be willing to sleep in that sorta bed. Smells like weed and feces throughout the apartment. Mosquitoes in the room so bring bug repellent. Bring your own towel to the bathroom every time as there’s nothing to dry your hands with. Not sure how to end this review, other than, please reconsider if you are planning to stay here. And for the hostel, maybe take the cameras down near the bathroom. Little weird. Also. Restock the water bottles in the vending machine. Never got water the entire time I was there. Not fun. Also. Hotel # is 305. Not listed anywhere. Had to find the hotel number via another review. Hope this helps you!

I stayed here the weekend of the NYC marathon and you could tell a few of the other guests were staying here for the marathon. I thought it was a good spot personally. Private rooms with keypad entry and shared bathrooms. Despite a fully booked house, I never had to wait for a bathroom. There are 2x on each floor and if your floor is busy, just try another floor. - I stayed Nov. 1st. so it was cold outside and the heat was on, my room got very warm in the morning, like 80 degrees without controls to change. Luckily each room has a their own window AC unit, I kept the fan running during my stay. Thankful for the window unit. I guess this is just a New York typical with radiator heat. - Great kitchen spaces, always felt like I was at a real home with appliances, a nice change from hotels. I kept leftovers and microwaved them for lunch or snacks later and saved a little money there. - Excellent location to feel like a real New Yorker, not in a tourist area like Times Sq but also not in the hood - you can tell you were with locals by all the dogs being walked šŸ•ā€šŸ¦ŗ - I suggest emailing the reservations email while arriving at the airport, just as a precaution. I emailed and a nice American called me about an hour later (5PM) and shared details of the facility and my room numbers. - There isn't staff on site, but after you get your room number, you shouldn't need anything else. I saw a cleaning crew taking care of the bathrooms as well. - Would recommend 100% if you just need a place to sleep and shower while in Manhattan. Will stay again I saw a few people struggle with check-in, mentioning and they showed up and no one called them, all these guests showed up before check-in time at 3pm, so again, try emailing the reservations email beforehand and share your arrival time. If you can get in the front door from another guest, you can drop your luggage off in the kitchen and roam the city until you get your key codes.

I stayed with a friend for NYCC in a "City Double Room" for four days. Overall it was good enough to stay for the price overall on a budget. A more detailed breakdown of the pros and cons. Pros - Location is great for just Javitz Center, Times Square, especially Madison Square Garden and more. - Rates are very reasonable - Offers bag check before and after stay, which isn't as common outside of major hotels. - Building and rooms are very secure with custom keypad entry numbers that activate at 3 PM of check in day and deactivate at 11 am of checkout day. Cons - I called in advance and was told the City Double Room had a queen bed but it was more like a full bed. Probably fine for a couple but not so much otherwise. - Furniture in room was very shoddy and even broken in some parts - Bedding is less than desirable. The mattress in retrospect is very hard, two pillows are very flat to point you'd not even notice anything between mattress. Lastly the covers aren't made to be used by two adults height or width wise but that could vary how close two people are. - Biggest issue is that building isn't very ADA friendly at all. Arriving we asked for ground level room due to an issue going to second floor with bags. The employee said they could but didn't want to because it'd require more work, literally said that. Apparently you can request that in advance if it's necessary but not hotel details or layout aren't very clear on any site. - The bathrooms are shared, I believe two bathrooms on each floor but there is no constant layout to any of them. No soap is supplied other than next to the sink, maybe not biggest thing but it would help a lot as something not always traveled with. Additionally there are no bath mats. I'd say this is an adequate place to stay for a day, two tops just to have somewhere to sleep but any longer and need any amenities or have disabilities then I'd say pay the extra for bigger hotel.

My boyfriend and I came to NYC for a weekend vacation for our anniversary. We travel on a budget often and love to stay in hostels when we can. This seemed like the perfect location for us as it is a block away from Penn Station, in a great area(Chelsea), and is a cute place. There are just a couple things that I think people should be aware of before booking. When we first arrived for check in, we walked up the street and back before finding the building we believed was the one (there is now no tree out front so it confused us), then went up to the door and pressed the bell button (that they wound up changing to say Incentra Home while we were still staying here which is exactly what I would’ve recommended as it was a bit confusing to locate). Once someone came to open the door, we were escorted to the first floor kitchen where the guy told us a few things like where the laundry room is located, check out protocol, and gave us the code for our room as well as the front door. We then payed the rest of the room fees and taxes and went up to our room on the third floor(Room 3E). The different floors follow different color themes and it is a very cute and modern look. They definitely have updated the style and bathrooms to make it more modern and hip, which is very nice. I will say that our room did not meet the expectations set by the photos though. The halls and rooms seem to be pretty dark, and although we knew it would be a small room, we were surprised with how old and worn the room actually seemed. The main problem was the bed, it was pretty small(I believe a full size not queen which I don’t believe I saw on the site) and the last door or two of the bed was at a complete slope downward. It was like we were sleeping on an old futon. Anyways, we did sleep pretty comfortably and the bathrooms were nice and spacious. The backyard has some furniture that is breaking down a bit but a nice place to go outside to eat or smoke. Also the kitchens are updated and useful if you have something you want to store in the refrigerators but they are smelly and there is A Lot of food stored in them that seems old. Overall it was a great location for NYC, which is what you are paying for I guess. But for over $400 for 2 nights we figured that the room would be a bit more like the ones shown in the photos. It was a great place to stay for a NYC hostel but I guess we will try a different...
