This is the cheapest hotel in New York without having to resort to sharing a room with anyone in a hostel. Location-wise it's great; just a couple of minutes from the nearest subway station so you can access all of New York relatively easily.||||Now, I must admit I had read all the negative reviews before deciding on this place, but I also know how people exaggerate online. I only wanted a hotel to sleep and shower in, basically. I've stopped in many cheap hotels and hostels before and can never justify paying silly money for a place I'm hardly going to spend much time in.||||The hotel was easy enough to find. I walked up the steps and into reception. It looked ok. They checked me in and I was off up to the 5th floor. It is run down but it's cheap! My room was tiny, of course. A single bed, with long hairs on the pillowcase from the previous guest greeted me. There was also a TV (which I used for light as the actual lightbulb in the room kept turning itself off after about 30 minutes and wouldn't turn back on for a couple of hours). A chest of drawers were in a corner, which came in handy for putting my dirty clothes in as I didn't feel comfortable putting clean clothes in. Anyway, I felt that the room was fine, for the price. It locked securely and had a chain on the inside. There was a screaming baby in the next room and a man who was talking loud on his phone at 2am every morning but for £42 a night I was willing to accept that.||||I checked out the bathroom next and honest to God I've never seen anything like it in my life. The shower floor was an absolute state. So filthy. As was the toilet. Why don't they just use a bit of bleach once in a while? The sink was full of clumps of hair. The bathroom floor itself was wet through with God knows what. You definitely don't want to spend too much time in here. I was heaving but again, at £42 a night I accepted it. There were only 2 bathrooms on my floor, and probably around 20-30 rooms on my floor. I didn't count.||||On my 6th day here I needed to get up early as I had a reservation in Times Square, so I tried leaving the hotel at 5.30am. A black man (ethnicity is important as he racially abused me) was walking up the steps in the corridor to reception. Now I'm a nice guy so I kindly held the reception door open (it locks by itself and you have to get the receptionist's attention for them to open it). As I was holding it open the man looked at me and his facial expression changed. He looked really angry, I don't know why. He came up to me and grabbed me by the throat, pinned me against the wall and said "You white bas*ard, I'm gonna slit your throat"! Obviously by this point I had let go of the hotel door and it shut and locked. He was mumbling stuff too, and I couldn't make everything out but he seemed very angry. He was clearly mentally deranged and probably on drugs. I didn't know what to do. His grip was strong and it was too early in the morning for me to be dealing with this! I tried walking away as his grip loosened but he grabbed me back and pinned me again, mumbling still. After about 2 minutes I managed to knock on the hotel door and get inside, with the door locking behind me. The guy stumbled back down the steps and out of the hotel. I didn't bother reporting it. Maybe I should have done but what would be done about it? I managed to make it in time for Times Square anyway and had a fantastic day that day so that guy didn't kill the mood thankfully.||||If you're a solo traveller like myself I'd suggest finding someone else, even though it'd be pricier. This area just isn't safe enough, clearly, and you want to survive your holiday I'm sure! My experience was bad luck I guess but I won't be stopping there again based on the bathroom and the bloke who threatened to...

First off my friend book a hotel because it was cheap compared to others and here in Florida a red roof cost the same amour and is pretty good, roomy and nice looking . and I'm use to staying at Marriotts
Now this place here. we went to the front window the attendant was at got our room key . I could tell it was small from the first hallway but it's my first time in Newyork, what I expected . but so after the 3 flight of steep ass stairs climbing with our luggage, because there's no elevator . we finally find our room . which the door was the size of a small closet door . our neighbors had ther door open which is uncommon at hotels that I'm use too . only place I've witness such a thing is in military dormitory. but anyhow we open the door , and the door opened about 3/4 of the way before hitting the bed . there was a full size dingy bed with spots on the blanket and the walls were dirty !! I was appalled at when the front clerk asked for my credit card I case any damages were done to the hotel because it looked like someone had already ducked it up before we got there. there were dirt and streak marks on the wall that I realized came from people resting there get on the wall from sitting on the bed . as that is how close the wall is . the were multiple autographs and complaints written on the map on the back of the door.
quote "this room gave me fleas"
there is about L shaped walk way of space surrounding the bed . but the button half of the L is blocked by a little dresser with a 13 in tv in it (ours was broken) that probably only received Korean Chanel's .
after being in shock of the room I took a walk to see where this famous public restroom was . there were two bathrooms . in both bathrooms the floors were wet and covered in dirt and residents hair . the showers , had black mole all in the corners of them abd as I looked up the wall following the mole as I took a piss , the only thing this bathroom was worthy of the ceiling was infested with mold and mildew . I was so disgusted thought what if there's bed bugs!!! I went back to the room to tell my friend were not staying here . and told them to get off the bed soon as they asked why, we had a knock on the door . the chezk neighbor nextdoor was trying to talk to me in another lay gauge which I didn't understand but I could understand the universal sign for bug spray , point and under bed . we spent three hours fussing with Travelocity . after them doing there " worst/ best to help " we stuck it out for one night . we slept in our clothes. put iur head on our jackets and use the towels as blankets assuming they got washed more frequent then the sheets. we decide too stay at a house that was being rented out . tho it wasn't deep in the city and 70 a night out at the people's house we stay it was worth it!! I also believe I got but in the shoulder there by a bug . maybe a spider .
ps. I forgot to mention 10 seconds after turning off the light a rich ran up the wall .
u have...
