Lucky star is great because it's super close to the train stations around and you can usually buy a ticket right on the spot, as compared to other bus services that you might have to book online. The rates are usually always $25 which seems fair, and lets you purchase last minute. The crowd typically on the Lucky Star is a bit rough around the edges if that makes sense but if you're just looking to get to Boston or NYC, it'll do the job. The staff is actually very nice and speak English well. Just don't ask them ridiculous questions or give them attitude. Their buses don't have wifi (who ever uses any wifi anyway) but they have chargers and are generally clean. They take a variety of routes out of NYC and generally make it on time. There's also a snacks store right next to it if you're looking to get water or something before your trip. The bus usually stops at a burger king or some kind of sushi buffet restaurant. They haven't in the past year that I've taken it stopped at the sushi buffer restaurant anymore, but if you happen to be on the bus when they do, don't buy any food from there since it's super oily. Instead there's a big supermarket further down that you can get a bunch of prepared foods that's cheaper and tastes better. Anyway, would recommend and it's definitely not as janky or delapitated as people make it out to be. I split the travel between this and...
Read moreOn my latest ride, Boston to NYC 10/01/2016 at 8:30 pm, my mom and I sat two seats back from the driver and I really felt like the driver was driving too fast, and the ride felt very jerky and unsafe. After the driver crossed the Whitestone Bridge, I believe that because of his excessive speed, he overshot the exit ramp to I-278/BQE. The traffic on the on-ramp was backed up and was not going to let a huge bus squeeze back into the lane to exit. The driver panicked and cried out to the riders for help with their gps. The next crossing was the Midtown Tunnel which had a max height of 12'5" and I had to point out to him that he couldn't continue in that direction. Putting the address of Lucky Star into Maps was not going to help because it doesn't distinguish between buses and cars and would have sent him to the tunnel. I put I-278 into Google Maps and sat behind the driver as it navigated him through Greenpoint and LIC to I-278. Nobody on the bus was pleased with these developments. After the bus pulled up in front of the Lucky Star on Canal, because my mom is of advanced age, we waited for everyone else to get off so she wouldn't hold anyone up. The bus driver's next words to us were "Last stop! You got to get off!". Nice. ...
Read moreThis morning (11-23-16) I arrived to the Manhatten station 8:30 am, and purchased a ticket to Boston leaving at 9:00 am, myself and many passengers were on line in the cold from 9:00 am until the bus finally arrived at 9:30 am along with the 9:30 am scheduled bus, this is not the reason for my poor review for i understand it's thanksgiving eve and everyone is traveling and traffic is heavier than usual but my problem was the driver makes a stop at a McDonald's and Duncan Doughnuts rest stop gives us all 10 min to purchase food and utilize the restroom as i wait for my sandwiches from dunken doughnuts i observe my bus which is carrying my personal belongings driving off causing me to leave behind my meals in which i paid for and run after the bus until he finally stops before getting on the freeway. This is absolutely outright wrong, disgusting, and unprofessional on so many levels to leave a passenger stranded in the middle of no where, i was mortified with my experience with Lucky star. To add insult to injury after chasing the bus down i asked the driver does he not check the bus before leaving and his response was I'm lucky he waited 3 minutes absolutely outrageous. This is...
