Oversea Chinese Mission — Attraction in New York

I always thought religion taught people to simply be good and kind to others, this place and the people who call it their church are anything but...this review is 20+ years late, they use to have basketball church leagues at MS 131 in the 90s, I would attend & watch as one of my good friends was part of that church. One time during a league all star game type event, they held a bunch of games with prizes for the winner. One of these games involved how many nothing but net shots you can hit within a minute from about 5 feet away. They specified that everyone would be allowed one try, i remember hitting around 20 something within that time frame and was the clear winner of that game, I was so excited & looking forward to the trophy, but then for some reason a few of the organizers huddled up & was talking, I noticed one guy pointing in my direction. Something did not feel right...they decided that everyone can get multiple tries, I ended up losing the game to a kid who attends that church, it was the most heartbreaking thing to happen to a young teen. This place full of fake condescending...

This church seems like a very nice place to worship in Chinatown. They have a large number in their community and they have many fellowships and both of the the main Chinese languages (Mandarin and Cantonese). However, I found it odd in the English service. The Bible passages are misquoted many times (I should have taken photos). But the powerpoint slide that shows Bible passages are different from the actual Bible. And I’m not talking about different translations. I looked up the same verses on the powerpoint and used the same translation that the powerpoint shows but they do not match. Sometimes its very off… They even had a Ephesians chapter 7 today… Overall the message still seemed Christ centered. But I’m worried about the other teachings. I’m only visiting from out of town so I cannot comment on the fellowship. But I pray Christ be with...

What strengthen a great church are miracles, presence of God, healing. Two days after Sunday service in a Chinese session, 3 jobs offers came at the same day. Not from last August , not two months before. Why all 3 at the same day? One or two more offers came few days after.

I was the guy who yelled at God and ask Him to take my life away. Life is / was difficult and miserable.
