Ugh. This is kind of hard to write. I’m not going to say the stylists name because I’m not sure thats productive here. She was sweet and I’m not here to bash someone. I do think potential training or just standards for a salon could be learned by this.
I’ve never gotten home from a haircut and started crying. It happened with this one. I had asked for the 90s, long layer look with curtain bangs. We decided about 3 inches off the length that I came in with. Getting back home and really looking at my cut- at least 6+ inches are gone. My layers are also extremely chunky and awkward. During the cut, after my hair was pulled forward to see the true new length, I was noticeably concerned. I was trying to be kind and positive to even myself, saying that at least my natural curls will thrive. The stylist recognized that I was talking myself through it and told me “you don’t have to do that”. I know she understood how I was feeling.
I think highlighting hair types and lengths that a stylist is comfortable with could be good for the online stylist profiles. I know as someone with thick, longer hair- I’m constantly looking for that. I also think that if even the stylist recognizes something is wrong- adjusting the price should be considered. On top of not adjusting, I was charged MORE than what the online booking amount stated. Digging in, I realized my cut could fall into the “advance cut”, but at least explain that to someone. There was no mention of it. I was also offered water (no other beverages?) and I never received it. Not the end of the world, but small touches like that really add to salons I’ve been to in the past. $150 (cut+tip) for an experience like this is just pretty...
Read moreI didn’t want to write this review, but I wanted to give my honest opinion and experience. I went in for a haircut with stylist Sylvia and had asked for 2 inches off and to thin it out and add layers to my hair because I have really heavy hair. At first when you walk out with a fully blow dried hairstyle it looks great and you can’t see the imperfections. But I wanted to write this review after really experiencing my new haircut after a month. I can confidently say I do not like my haircut. I feel it looks very boxy and choppy at the bottom and throughout my whole head. Even though my hair’s shorter, it feels heavy because it’s not thinned out. In the videos and pictures this is actually my hair straightened and you can see how in a lot of places it looks like she just took the scissors and cut horizontally. My bangs are also cut straight and sit horizontally across my face. When I put my hair up in a bun my hair sticks out, it looks like there’s a broom sticking out on the side of my bun. Looking back, I realized she didn’t pull the hairs forward to check if they were even or frame my face. She cut my hair while it was wet but didn’t thin it out or cut off extra hair while it was dry (which in my experience you always cut/style a little extra after you blow dry the wet hair because that’s how your hair will naturally fall and be all day.) She just went straight in with a blow dryer and started curling it. I’m really sad that this experience didn’t work out for me especially because hair is important to people. I don’t mean to hurt anyone’s feelings here but just want...
