I was forced to stay here by my work (unless I wanted to pay out-of-pocket for my business trip). Just from the pictures on the official website I knew it wasn't my kind of place, but more than that I just don't think it's a great place in a general sense.
The Wi-Fi was basically non-existent. It was so slow that I had to download a little over 50MB of data for an app update and an hour later it wasn't done yet. I switched off my wireless and boom, downloaded in a minute. Ridiculous.
The "view" for my room looked at a wall and into an empty space. It didn't even receive any decent amount of sunlight from above, just a view of concrete. And wow, did this room ever need some sun.
The lights were exceptionally dim. It was difficult to see anything with clarity even with all the lights on. Sometimes I would go into the bathroom to look closely at something since the lighting was better there.
The shower was awful. It was laid out such that you would definitely get part of your arm wet when you turned it on unless you always remembered to aim the showerhead up and over to the far corner. Then when you're taking a shower, it has a curtain, and that curtain is damp and cold and nasty, and it will definitely stick to your leg at least once per shower.
Finally, walls were paper thin. I could hear my neighbor hanging up clothes in the closet. And they weren't bring exceptionally loud, it's just that I could hear the light scratching of the metal hook touching the clothing rod and being slid from side to side. Now imagine what it was like when people would be talking or walking through the halls or pacing in the...
Read moreI booked 5 nights at this hotel through Expedia. Initially, I was very excited for my stay because of the hotel’s location and artsy decor. However, merely two days after booking I had a family emergency which prevented me from going on my trip. Although I attempted to contact this hotel multiple times, every call resulted in the phone being off the hook or no answer. I contacted Expedia and multiple employees on their end also tried to contact this hotel with the same result. When an answer was finally received, I was told they had to wait for a call back from the manager regarding my cancellation. Keep in mind this was only 2 days after booking!! I finally received an answer that my money was not refundable, I received that information this morning... my check in date was supposed to be Thursday April 12th! Overall, I am disgusted with the customer service at this hotel and their lack of compassion towards the individual situation. The Night Hotel Theatre District is a poor representation of the hospitality industry. I would never book again and would give them a rating of zero if this was possible!! BUYER BEWARE I am now out $1300!! I am sticking with Marriott or Hilton for...
Read moreI would've liked it more off the bat if the staff was nicer. The Asian guy from the front desk is pretty rude. But let's get into the situation about the rooms.
The room is super super tiny. I am 5'1 115 lbs and I bruised myself 3 times on the corner of the bed because I didn't have space to walk in the room but then again, I don't expect hotels in New York to be much bigger anyways. However, recently, I've been paranoid after reading an article about how hotels don't clean their comfortors so I've decided to put a flashlight under the comforters in this hotel and what I read on the article was right. It was absolutely disgusting (picture below). The sheets were covered with black specks here and there as well so it makes me think that they don't clean them so well. The walls and floor on the bathtub hadn't been cleaned as well because you can see the brown spots (dirt) in between the walls. Also, the "shower curtain" was nothing but a lightweight sheet so as you're showering, it will keep blowing on you and sticking on you.
The only pro to the hotel in my opinion is the location, which was literally about 20 steps from Time Square. They also store your luggage before and...
